A/N: This is a short story of Loki and one of his dalliances... PWP really, because where the Hell would I put this in the world? I only hope to have a good representation of a man more complicated and intelligent than I am.
Summary: Loki finds an object of power in his father's vaults. So what does he use it for? Voyeurism.
Whispers in the Night
“Loki!” She could see her breath in the air. “Loki! Where is that idiot?”
A dog’s bark broke the chilled, silent morning.
“Come on you mongrel! I want to get back inside! It’s cold out here!” A black dog’s face appeared and disappeared between the bushes separating her house from the neighbors. “Get over here! I know you’re playing with me!” She stomped after the dog, her growls swirling behind her as they crystallized in the air.
A large black dog burst through the mostly skeletal bushes, knocking off dusts of snow and tufts of leaves. His heavy breath clouded her face as he leaped, landing his front paws onto her shoulders, and licked her face as if to say, “Found you!”
Upon Asgard, light years away, the shouts of a woman did not go unnoticed by a man who bore the same name as this witless dog. His head lifted, neck turning as if he could hear between worlds better.
“Come on you big oaf. Let’s get inside. I wanna do some snuggling with my blankets.”
A smile upon thin lips came and went. The dark haired Asgardian began his trek back to his rooms, unnoticed from the breakfast hall, his curiosity piqued.
A large oval mirror stood in his bedchambers, the thick golden frame resting ever so delicately on the marble floor. It stood alone, no anchors or boards to keep it from falling. It appeared to hover just so, touching only the floor ever so slightly on one curved, gilded edge. Loki had taken ownership of the mirror after he had found it, dusty and covered in one of his father’s forgotten vaults. No one had taken notice of its disappearance, or it’s reappearance in Loki’s rooms. The mirror had been forgotten. Now it was one of Loki’s most treasured items, for the mirror was not only a mirror to glance at, but a window to look through.
Siobhan yanked off her coat, kicked off her boots, and practically flew back into her bed. She bounced once, dove under her covers, and shivered. “Brrr!” she groused to the black dog whom curled up on his own bed. From her seat in her bed, she smoothed down her hair in the mirrors on her closet doors, a pile of riotous curls that disobeyed her at every turn by refusing to lie even remotely flat. She gave herself a frown. Loki regarded her with bored eyes, sighing exaggeratedly before rolling onto his side for a nap.
Curling up with one of her favorite books from her nightstand, she snuggled down into bed and began to doze off, her thumb in her favorite chapter. She didn’t take notice of the gentle wave of motion over the surface of her sliding closet.
“One day,” she yawned, stretching as she set her book aside, “One day I’ll find a dashing prince, Loki. Just you wait.” The dog stirred just enough to acknowledge her, his large ear flapping, his nose twitching with another deep sigh. She fell asleep in mere moments.
From Asgard, Loki stood, his mirror now showing him the bedroom of a young woman napping, her dog beside her bed. Finding a sleeping woman was not very interesting. In fact, it was boring. Loki turned away, ready to clear the mirror and return it to its regular sight. He’d rather look at himself that some sleeping mortal. From within the cozy room a low groan sounded, “Mmm… my prince…”
The tall Asgardian paused. He slowly turned back, regarding the mirror with more intrigue.
On Earth, young Siobhan shifted in her bed, unable to fall into a dreamless sleep. She was fitful, her throat working, her lips trembling. She was imagining her prince in her mind, the worlds of her dreams swirling around her. He was passionate, powerful, and fully intent on writing his name in her flesh with his lips, tongue and hips. Aloud, her body groaned with the sensations that wracked through her unconscious body. Her hips lifted, echoing the delicious rhythms her prince wrought upon her in her dreams.
“Ohhhh, Loki… My prince…”
A thrill shot up Loki’s spine. He found himself seated, his eyes and ears giving the mirror his full attention. He watched as the mortal woman gyrated in her sleep, obviously having a full blown erotic dream. He had yet to see a woman he had never touched cry out his name in such a manner. It was a powerful sensation.
Soon, sleep became dreamless for Siobhan and she rested beneath her covers quietly. Her dream lover had finished with her and left her satisfied.
Loki groaned inwardly. Perhaps she was sated.
Climbing from his chair, Loki, the Prince of Asgard, leaned against the doorframe of his chambers. He wrestled briefly with the idea of relieving himself of this nagging heat before returning to the breakfast hall. He wouldn’t be missed. He could spare the time. He approached the mirror, his hand waving before it, clearing the image of the woman’s room to return to a simple reflection.
He divested himself of his cloak, leaving him in his leathers. Flicks snapped away his bracers. Thumbs tugged on the straps of his jerkin apart, leaving him in his doublet. Tugging it overhead, Loki stood with his chest bare before the mirror. His torso was lean and firm. His shoulders were pronounced and curved. His hands ran down the flesh of his chest, fingertips sweeping along the muscles of his abdomen. He breathed in deeply, one hand diving between his legs to cup his length firmly through his tightening trousers. The fastenings strained from the growing force beneath them.
A knock. A curse fell from his lips, hands snatching for his doublet and jerkin. “What?”
“Darling?”
Frigga. Loki clothed himself quickly and carefully. He made sure not even a hair was out of place before leaving the sight of the mirror. He was a fastidious creature. The time afforded him the chance to ignore his previous intentions and desires.
“Mother. For what do I owe the pleasure of your kind face at my door?”
The older woman smiled though she knew Loki’s supposed flattery was, at times, venomous sarcasm.
“I wanted to check in on you. You left breakfast without a word. Are you feeling all right?”
A piece of Loki was instantly warmed. Someone had noticed. Someone had cared. He had thought that as long as Thor and Odin were in a room, he was invisible as long as no one was crying out about something gone wrong. But the sensation was fleeting. She was only there to check and make sure he wasn’t doing something he shouldn’t. He was, after all, incapable of doing any good. He offered his mother a suppressed smile. “If there is something wrong with me, I’m sure you’ll be the first to know.”
“Please do tell me, darling. I’m glad you’re feeling well.” With that, Frigga departed, a glance offered to Loki while he still stood in the doorway before she disappeared down another corridor.
Shutting his bedchambers again, Loki sat at his desk, toying with a small globe, some worthless world somewhere, his mood turned somewhat dour. He leaned back in his chair, the globe now resting in his lap, fingers twirling the sphere absently; a world at his fingertips.
