Women of the Past

"I can't believe you talked me into coming here." Kurt said fidgeting as he stood in line at the ticket box. He looked up at the large sign that he had seen hundreds of times before and sighed. "And to boot..... I have to pay to get in." He said clearly not happy.

"Oh stop being such a baby, it'll be fun." Kitty jabbed him in the rib cage with her elbow and giggled again. They reached the ticket stand and got their tickets then moved onto the grounds. "C'mon smile!" Kitty pulled him along towards their seats.

Kurt groaned as she pulled him right to the front row. "If we leave here now I'll win you a giant teddy bear at one of the games." He said trying to get out of it.

"What am I gonna do with that?" She pushed him down into his seat and took one next to him.

They where right in the center right in the front. Great. "I don't know.... wouldn't you like it for the baby's room?" He asked. To be honest he didn't know why he was so nervous. With his image inducer on the chances of anyone recognizing him was slim. Course then again....

"Your not wiggling out of this one." She nudged him again with her shoulder and took his hand in hers as the rest of the crowd filled into their seats.

Kurt looked around and saw a lot of people he didn't know, among them filtered in the crowd he saw a few of his students and even a couple of the teachers from the institute.

"See not so bad." She whispered into his ear. As the people filed in she stared down at the ring, the ring master was standing there already waiting to greet the guests.

"Ladies and Gentleman." The ring master, Jardine, announced. "We have a suprise appearance today." He called out. "The return of the wonderfully talented AMANDA SZARDOS!" Kurt's eyes nearly bugged out of his head. It was just his luck that on the day he is forced to come see this.... she would be here. The rest of the gang he could handle if they recognized him.... but her......

Kitty saw his eyes bugging again and tilted his head slightly as she watched him. "What's wrong this time?"

"Uh..... nothing." He said sinking down in his chair as he saw Amanda up on the trapeze stand. She had her hands up a moment before bowing.

Kitty leaned against Kurt's arm as the woman stood upon the stage. "She's pretty." She said to herself as she watched the woman.

"I guess so." He said not looking up at her. He was playing with the piece of paper he had in his hands that he had been given at the entrance.

She smiled as the woman began her act, swinging from one trapeze to another in a flurry of flip and twists. "She's good." Kitty whispered to him as Amanda landed on the opposite platform.

"She is." He said. 'But Jardine is holding her back. This is not her full potential.' He thought to himself. The Berlin Circus used to be a theatrical show of outstanding proportions. But now..... all it was, was some people doing some twists and flips. He sighed knowing that Jardine had torn this circus apart and nothing short of a miracle would bring it back.

"Aren't you glad you came?" She kissed his cheek completely oblivious to his discomfort then rested her head against his shoulder.

Kurt shrugged. "Sure." He said. They sat and watched the performance in silence Kitty giving the occasional "Ew" Or "Aw" at the performance.

Kurt had no reaction to it. He knew these people. Knew their acts and had seen them do SO much better.

It seemed a little too long to Kurt before it finally ended.

Kitty moved up and felt her stomach. She was very hungry now. "Let's go get something to eat?" She asked him as she felt a tiny kick from her stomach. "Oh! She kicked!"

Kurt smiled. "You're always hungry." He said putting his hand on her stomach and leading her out of the tent. He was nervous now, he had seen Amanda glance at him a few times.... She never did that to any audience member. Could she have recognized him? No.... there was no way..... not with his image inducer on..... could she?

"Something...pasta like." Kitty mused as she worked to figure out what exactly she was craving. "With...marshmallows?" She sounded confused down then sighed in defeat.

Kurt laughed. "I think the closest thing you'll get is Pizza and Cotton Candy."

"Ooh~ That sounds good." She said and licked her lips while batting her eyes up at him.

"Oh just please don't put the cotton candy ON the pizza." Kurt said. "My stomache is only so strong." He said leading her in the direction of the food stands.

"Oh don't worry...if I do I'll make sure your not looking." She said teasingly and weaved through the people.

Kurt scoffed. "I'm sure." He said. "You'd probably try to get me to..."

"Kurt?" Kurt paused at the sound of the voice. 'oh no.'

Kitty froze when she heard an unfamiliar voice calling Kurt's name. She swallowed loudly and turned around slowly. Kurt was pale as a ghost...it worried her when ever he looked like that.

Kurt turned around and smiled. "Amanda.... hi." He said nervously. Amanda tilted her head to the side looking at him.

"It.... it is you." She came up to him slowly and touched his cheek gently. Kurt pulled back slightly and she withdrew her hand half way. "What.... happened to you?"

"What do you mean?" He asked. "Why'd I leave or why do I look like this?"

"Both.... More than anything I want to know why you left." She paused and looked to Kitty who was holding Kurt's hand. "And who is this?"

Kitty gripped his hand tighter by the second as she stared at Amanda. She was to beautiful...more beautiful then her. She was scrawny and short, barely hand any chest and certainly no hips. She was in no competition with this woman. Slowly she released Kurt's hand and smiled rather sadly at Amanda. "I'm Kitty Pryde..."

"She's my girlfriend." Kurt said quickly. Amanda suddenly looked hurt a moment but quickly masked it. She crossed her arms over her chest and shrugged.

"So what happened to you anyway?" She asked.

"How's Margali?" Kurt asked changing the subject.

"She's fine." Amanda said. "Can't say we didn't miss you though. She'll be glad to see that you're okay." Kurt sighed.

"Yeah I needed to talk to her anyway." He said.

"About what?"

"I need my bank account transferred here. But seeing as it's in her name I can't do that."

"I'll let you two talk." Kitty said softly to him. She didn't want to end up being a burden to them. "Was nice to meet you." She said to Amanda as she turned away.

Kurt looked to Kitty confused. "Why are you leaving?" He asked.

"You two...should catch up...your old friends right? You don't need me nosing around." She faked a smiled and put her hand on his cheek. "I'll be over by the fun house when your done." Then she was gone in the blink of an eye.

Kurt sighed. He knew Kitty was jealous. She didn't know Amanda was his sister. Oh boy.... Kurt shook his head and looked to Amanda.

Amanda stared ominously at Kurt. "She's cute. Where did you pick her up at?" She asked as she stepped closer to him.

Kurt glared at her a moment. "She's one of my students."

Amanda blinked in shock at him. "Student?" She asked. "You're a teacher?" Kurt nodded. "Where?"

"At a school for mutants." He said.

"And what does her parents think of this little... arrangement?"

"Why the sudden interest in my life?" He asked.

"She said we should catch up." Amanda countered as she stepped closer to him. "I've missed you...you know..."

Kurt stepped back. "Where's Margali?" He asked.

"Shhh." She reached out and wrapped her arms around him, pressing herself against him. "Why don't we go to my trailer for a little while?" She asked seductively.

Kurt gently pushed her away from him and pulled away from her. "Amanda.... I'm serious."

She sighed as she stepped away from him. "First tell me why you aren't blue?"

Kurt paused and looked around. "Lets go to your trailer." He said. "I'll show you."

She tilted her head slowly and smiled. "Alright. This way." She gestured for him to follow with her finger as she moved through the crowd.

Kurt sighed and followed behind her.

She lead him through the crowd and onto the back lands of the circus. There were several trailers there all with lights on inside them. She lead him to one on the far right that stood alone. She moved up the steps and pushed open the door. "Come on in Kurt."

"So what happened to Butt-Fuck Werner anyway?" He asked.

"I got rid of him." She replied with a wave of her hand as she shut the trailer door behind him. "Mom?" She asked looking around the small trailer.

Margali looked up from one of her books and saw Amanda standing with a man she had never seen before. But there was something oddly familiar about him.

"Shows over already?" She asked. "Who's this?" She asked. Amanda turned to Kurt.

"Okay.... tell me." She said. Margali looked confused a moment.

"Tell you what?" She asked.

"He promised to tell me why he looks like that!" Kurt sighed and looked down at his watch as he took it off. The image faded out revealing his normal self.

Amanda flinched. "It's.... what is that?" Amanda asked in amazement as she fingered the watch.

"It's called an image inducer." He said. "It's a holographic image that gives me the appearance of normalicy. What ever that mean."

He looked over to see Margali staring at him as if seeing a ghost.

"Hi." He said dumbly. Margali slowly walked over to him and put her hand on his cheek as Amanda had done before.

"Kurt?" She asked as if in shock. He nodded.

"Ja."

"Oh my god you're home!" She said hugging him. Kurt closed his eyes as he hugged her back.

"Yeah.... not for long though."

"What?" Margali asked pulling back from him. "What do you mean?"

"I'm leaving again." He said. "I just came to ask if you could transfer my bank account here. It's in your name." He said.

"You're..... staying here?" She asked. "Where will you go? What will you do?" Amanda rolled her eyes and sat on her bed.

"He's a teacher now mom." She said. "At a school for freaks."

"Mutants." Kurt corrected. "I'm not a freak."

"Right...sorry..." She bit her lip, that was a dumb thing to say. "He's got a cute little girlfriend now mom. She's a student of his."

"A girlfriend?" Margali asked.

"Why is everyone suddenly interested in my life?" He asked. "Before all this happened all you two cared about was how much money I'm bringing in!" Margali looked hurt.

"Kurt... no...." She said. "You know I've always seen you as a son." Kurt scoffed.

"Right...."

"Hey Kurt...calm down." Amanda said firmly. "We haven't seen you in a year of course we're going to wonder about what you've been doing."

"Look.... I've just been through a lot lately. I don't need the thousand questions. I have a job here, I have a new life." He said. "And as much as I hate to admit I like it a lot better than the one I had before."

Amanda frowned as she looked at Margali momentarily then back to Kurt.

Kurt sighed. "It's not that I don't love you guys... it's just....... " He paused and looked away from them. "I'm sick of being a sideshow freak."

"I understand Kurt..." Margali said sincerely, stroking her hand over his hair. She smiled warmly then hugged him again. "Come now... tell me about this young lady of yours?" She asked softly and gestured to the nearest chair.

Kurt smiled. "She's around somewhere. I'm supposed to meet her by the fun house later. I think she got a little intimidated by Amanda." He laughed, his regular humor coming back.

"Oh? ...poor child...." She fell silent as she looked out the window. "It's pretty cold out there...why don't you go and fetch her? We can all have dinner together." Margali asked. Amanda rolled her eyes.

Kurt looked at his watch. "I'm not supposed to meet her for another half hour. She won't be there." He said. "What have I missed lately? Jardine still being an ass hole?" He asked.

"Oh of course." Margali sat down slowly and heaved a deep sigh. "He is so terrible."

"Mmm.... he's a racist is what he is." He said clearly not amused. He sighed. "I'm going to go find Kitty." He said getting up from his seat. He paused. "Um.... what are you making for dinner anyway?"

"Good old fashioned stew." She replied as she crossed her legs and lead back in her chair.

Kurt paused. "Um.... that has meat in it right?" Margali nodded. "Do you have anything you could make without meat in it?"

"Kurt... you love meat." Margali said confused.

"I know I do.... but..... Kitty's a vegetarian." He said.

"Oh...well...I suppose I can cut the meat out of it this time..." She replied as she blinked at him. "Or make a salad."

Kurt smiled. "Thanks." He said stepping out of the trailer to find Kitty.

Kitty sighed as she sat upon a small swing set near the fun house. A few other kids occupied the other two swings. Clowns were wandering around trying to make her laugh but none had succeeded so far.

"Someone looks unhappy." Kurt said leaning on the swing's bar behind her.

"Clowns make me depressed." She replied as she looked over her shoulder at him. "Did you both catch up?"

"Not really much to catch up on." He said. "Not much has changed. With them anyway. I didn't really wanna talk about me." He said with a laugh. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing....why?" She replied as she swung herself slightly.

The kid next to her jumped off the swing and Kurt took his place. "You seem upset."

"I'm not." She replied and stared at the ground, her shoes scraping over the dirt.

Kurt moved and crouched in front of her trying to see her eyes. "Something tells me someones lying." He said poking her."

She looked at him slowly as her stomach growled again. "Hm..." She blushed and looked down again. "Sorry."

"For what?" He asked.

"For my loud mouthed stomach." She replied as she looked around. The wind blew her hair out of her face as she began to tremble.

Kurt laughed and pulled his jacket off, wrapping it around her shoulders over the orange hoodie she had borrowed from him that morning.

"Thank you Kurt." She smiled and stood up slowly, leaning against him.

"My mom invited us for supper tonight." He said taking her hand. "She's making..... something...." Kurt said laughing not sure what she was making.

"Oh? That's nice of her...do you wanna go?" She asked as she hooked her arm around his tightly.

"I haven't seen my family in over a year. Of course I wanna go." He said. "Besides.... I met your family you have to meet mine." He said hugging her. "You'll like them I promise."

She looked up at him as they walked and smiled again. "Alright...."

"Oh.... I haven't told them yet about uh..." He looked down at her stomach that was hidden by the hoodie. "Do you think we could wait until after dinner to tell them. I just don't want to spring it at them so soon after seeing me again after so long."

"Oh...yeah no problem...do you think they'll take it well?" She asked as they approached the trailer.

"I think they will take it well." He said. "Amanda will probably deny that it's mine." He said. "But don't worry about it."

Kitty looked down again. "She's...that critical?" She mumbled. They approached the door to the trailer after a while. Margali opened the door then, having seen them through the window, and smiled warmly. "Come in child, out of the cold." Kitty blinked in amazement as she stepped through the door.

"Oh Kurt she's absolutely beautiful!" Margali said.

"She's young." Amanda said from her place on her bed.

Margali ignored Amanda. "Hi... I'm Kurt's mother." She said. "Margali." She held out her hand to shake Kitty's.

"Kitty Pryde." She greeted and shook the older woman's hand. "Pleased to meet you."

"And she's polite." Margali laughed. "Maybe you should teach Kurt a few things." Kurt scoffed.

"Hey!" He protested.

Kitty giggled and leaned against Kurt again. "I'll pass. I like him just the way he his." Amanda rolled her eyes again.

"So how old are you anyway?" Amanda asked moving to a sitting position at the edge of her bed. "You look like you have to be at least seven years younger than him." Margali looked to Amanda almost angrily.

"I'm going to be seventeen soon..." She replied in a faint tone. Amanda was a scary lady, she didn't like her one bit.

Amanda shrugged. "Five years. I was close." She moved past Kurt. "Didn't realize you where that desperate Kurt." She said.

"That's enough out of you. Now come help me in the kitchen...Kitty ... Kurt feel free to sit." Margali took a firmly hold of Amanda's arm and lead her away from the two. Kitty bit her lip tightly and slowly sat down.

"Don't mind her, she has a bit of an attitude towards people she doesn't know. But.... she'll get over it." He paused. "Besides.... I think she finally figured out she likes me." He said with a nervous laugh.

Kitty got an odd look upon her face at his last comment but stayed dead silent.

"Uh... I was adopted remember. We're not really related. I had this thing for Amanda a while back. I don't think she ever caught on though until I went missing. Or so I figure from how she's been acting since I got back."

"That's not helping." She replied as Margali came out holding a steaming pot and set it in the middle of the small table near the window.

Kurt smiled and leaned towards Kitty's ear. "Relax. You know you're the only one for me." He whispered.

She nodded even though she didn't really believe him now. Margali bustled back into the kitchen for a moment and returned with a salad bowl and also set it on the table. Amanda moved out next and set the dishes into their proper places.

"After supper we'll tell them... and then we'll go get icecream or something okay?" He asked quietly.

"...ok..." She gave him a sad smile and took her seat at the table. "I took the meat out for you honey." Margali smiled and poured the stew into her bowl.

"Oh...thank you...you didn't have to do that..."

Kurt scoffed. "You remember the last time you ate meat?" He asked. "You're body isn't used to it."

"It was just a stomach ache..." She pouted as Amanda sat down next to her.

Kurt smirked. "If you say so." He said taking a bite of his stew. He moaned at the taste. "Man I miss your cooking mom."

Margali smiled and patted his knee briefly. Kitty took a sip and licked her lips slowly. "It's wonderful!"

"I'm glad you like it." She said. Amanda sat quietly as she ate her stew. "So this school you teach at. What do you teach?" Kurt swollowed what was in his mouth and licked his lips.

"I teach a manditory language course and an optional Acrobatics class. It's kinda an option, the students can either take my class or gym." Kurt laughed. "Most of them dropped out within the first week. But I got a decent sized class. It's easier working with fewer students per class anyway."

Kitty took Kurt's hand secretly and placed it on her stomach as the baby kicked again. "Putting your old circus skills to the test?" Amanda asked.

Kitty laughed. "Yeah, they say those that can't do teach. Kurt kinda broke that rule."

Amanda nodded slowly and returned to her stew. Kitty blinked and did the same. "So Kurt...what do you plan to do with your money?" Margali broke the silence.

Kurt, who was running his spoon through his stew, froze. "Um..." He looked to Kitty wondering how he should tell them.

Kitty looked up slowly then shrugged at him.

"Probably put it away for a while.... until we need it."

Margali gave him a suspicious look. She knew he was hiding something from her. "Do you plan to marry?" She prodded.

Kurt looked shocked a moment. "Uh.... well..... no not at the moment.... no...."

"Your hiding something from me." She said in a low tone as she watched him.

Kurt sat nervously picking at his food. "We where actually going to wait until after supper to tell you but..." He paused not knowing how to tell his mom that he got a sixteen year old girl pregnant. "Um.... we're going to have a baby." He said nervously not meeting his moms gaze.

Margali and Amanda both grew pale in the face. "WHAT!?" Amanda snapped and jumped up form her chair. "What is wrong with you!? First you decide to get with this scrawny kid then forget to use a condom!?" Kitty shrunk in her seat knowing full well it was her fault for the pregnancy.

"Amanda." Kurt paused not knowing what to say. "It's not.... we just..... "

"No! Don't you even bother!" She yelled them stormed out from the trailer. "I must admit I am upset by this..." Margali said slowly and rested her elbows on the table.

"I know...." Kurt said. "I knew you would be." He laughed slightly. "At least you didn't try to kill one of us." He said trying to make light of the situation, remembering how Kitty's father had reacted.

"Well...it's none of my business what you do in your life. Your a grown man now." She took a hold of his hand then Kitty's smiling softly. "I wish you both the best."

"Thank you." He said smiling. "So hows things been holding up here? What's the damage Jardine has caused?"

Margali sighed. "Come... I'll show you."

Kitty moved up slowly not having the heart to speak. She held onto Kurt's tightly as Margali lead them outside again.

Margali lead them through the small circus area to a large tent. A few people came out of it looking like they where going to be sick. Kurt entered the tent behind Margali and paused in shock. There where two rows of cages facing each other, a narrow passage way between them. Inside each cage was a malnourished, mistreated physically mutated mutant.

"What.... what happened?" Kurt said. "He can't do this, it's illigal." He said. Margali shook her head.

"You know better than anyone the government doesn't care about Mutants, let alone carni mutants. Most of them are Romanian to boot." Kurt was well aware how it was being in a triple minority. It was tough. "There's nothing we can do." She said. Kurt moved up to one of the cages and put his hand up to touch one of the bars. "Kurt no!" It was too late. Kurt barely even touched the bar but it was enough to blast him back into the cage behind him. The cage behind him sent electrical currents through his body, his image inducer shorting out and exploding. Kurt screamed as the electricity flowed through his body before he fell limp to the ground.

Kitty screamed as Kurt fell limp onto the floor. She ran to his side and pulled him onto her lap. "Kurt!? KURT!!" She screamed, shaking him vigorously. But he wasn't coming to.

Margali stared in shock for a moment before rushing the remaining people out of the tent and closing the folds. The mutants all traveled to the edges of their cages trying to see what all the noise was.

Kitty gasped as she dug into her pocket for her phone, she held it in trembling hands as she dialed Xavier's number.

"Professor! It's Kurt he needs help!! ....We're at the Circus...He...he ... touched the electrical fence....how can I calm down my boyfriend is dying!?" She hung up and threw her phone, holding Kurt close.

Margali came forward and checked Kurts pulse. "We need to get him to a hospital." She said. Kitty shook her head.

"No... you know how hospitals treat mutants." She said. "If we don't he could die. I've seen it happen before."

"The Professor is bringing Hank. He's a doctor."

"Ok just stay calm Kitty...your carrying precious cargo." Margali said slowly, putting her hand on her shoulder.

"I know that!" Kitty snapped as tears fell from her eyes. Kurt wasn't reacting to anything they where saying.

They stayed there for what seemed forever before Hank came into the tent. There where four others with him.

Hank automatically kneeled down next to Kurt, checking his vitals, his breathing and the pace of his heartbeat.

"We need to get him to the med lab." He said quickly. Hank looked up and saw all the mutants in the cages. "Good God." He said. He shook his head and turned back to Kurt. "Scott, I need you're help getting him to the van.

Scott nodded briefly as he motioned for Storm to help him. They lifted him from Kitty's lap and lumbered out from the tent. Xavier wheeled himself to Kitty's side and helped her to her feet. "He'll be alight Kitty." He said soothingly then looked to the mutants.

"Kitty you go with Hank. I want to speak to the owner of this place."

She nodded and took Hank's hand softly following him out from the tent. Margali stood with her arms wrapped around herself. "Jardine is the owner Sir."

Xavier nodded. "I know." He said simply. "My name is Charles Xavier. Can you take me to see Jardine please?"

"Margali. Pleasure." She shook his hand briefly then lead him out of the tent. She lead him through the circus to a large craven marked management. "He's in there. I'll go get him for you." She said and moved up the small steps, pushing the door open, and stepping inside.

Muffled yelling could be heard a moment before Margali came back out. "He'll be out in a minute." She said before storming out.

She moved back down to Xavier's side with a sneer on her face. A fat sloppily dressed, balding man waddled out from the caravan and lumbered down the stairs. "Can I help you?"

Margali sneered at him before walking away from them. She hated being in his presence even for a short period of time.

"Yes Jardine. I have a proposition for you." He said.

"Oh yeah?" He heaved a deep labored breath as he sat down on the last step. "What's that?"

"I want to buy this circus off you." Jardine laughed right in Xaviers face.

"What makes you think you know how to run a circus?" Xavier shrugged.

"That is hardly any of your business." Xavier said.

"Well it doesn't matter. It's not for sale." He said standing up. Xavier pulled a peice of paper out of his jacket and handed it to to Jardine.

"Ooh..." He stared at it with wide eyes. "This is quite a hefty sum there." He said. "You sure you wanna blow all this on a dump like this?"

Xavier rested his hands in his lap. "This dump, as you call it, has more value to some than others. I'm sure it'll be a good investment."

"Hmm...I don't know..." He said slowly as he stared at the man. "Not sure that much is worth this entire place."

"You said yourself it's a hefty sum." Xavier said sensing the mans attempt to scam him out of more. "I won't offer any more than that."

He seemed to think on it for a moment then pocketed the paper. "I think we have ourselves a deal Mr...?"

"Xavier."

He caste him a gnarly smiled as he clumsily ascended the stairs again. "Shall we get the paper work in motion?" He asked.

Xavier nodded.

Kitty sat at the edge of Kurt's hospital bed. It had been nearly seven hours since the accident.

She stared over him as he lay still in his hospital bed. He had turned a light shade of blue, his breathing slow, and his heart beat rapid. She stared over all the wires stuck to him then to the IV drip in his hand. She hated seeing him like this...it pained her. "Kurt..." She whispered as she rested her hand on his stomach.

There was a soft knock on the door and Kitty looked up to see Margali and Amanda standing in the door way.

Kitty looked over and gripped her shirt slightly. Amanda was present. The mere thought of it annoyed her but now in person she wasn't sure if she'd be able to hold her tongue. "....hi...."

"How's he doing?" Amanda asked as the two came up to the bed.

"Not so good." She replied in a choked tone as she turned her eyes back on him. "Hank says he might make it...and he might not... From what Hank says.... there's only a thirty percent chance he'll make it." She said, tears streaking her cheeks.

Margali closed her eyes as tears threatened to fall. Amanda stared blankly in shock.

"I'm scared..." She said as she choked again, tears falling down her cheeks. She covered them with her hands and pulled her knees up to her chest.

Margali came up beside her and put her hand on her shoulder. "We all are." She said. She gently nudged her legs down not wanting her to put to much pressure on her stomach.

She sniffled and hunched over where she sat, staring down at the floor. "What if he doesn't come through?"

Margali sighed not knowing what to say. "Then we mourn. And we deal." She said. "Things happen there's nothing we can do about it."

"Why was the set so high anyway?" She asked about the charge of the cages.

"The mutants inside if they touched the cage would just be blasted back into the wall. They wouldn't have been shocked so severely." She told her. "Jardines a sick bastard. But don't worry. I'm sure Kurt will pull through." She laughed slightly. "He always has a way of bouncing back to us, no matter what happens."

"You promise?" She asked hopefully and stared up at the older woman.

Margali smiled sadly. "I can't promise anything." Margali said. "Life comes and goes. But we can hope."

She nodded slowly and gripped Margali hand. "She is kicking again..."

"It's a girl?" Margali asked.

Kitty shrugged. "I don't know, they won't tell us. But Kurt insists that it's a girl."

"He wants a girl so much..." She added as she rubbed her stomach then sighed deeply.

"Do you have any names picked out?" Margali asked.

Kitty nodded. "Kurt picked them out. If it's a girl the Talia Josephine Wagner. If it's a boy then Jack Napier Wagner." Kitty rolled her eyes. "He's such a dork sometimes." She said with a laugh. She saw the look of confusion on both of their faces. "Jack Napier is the supposed name of the Joker from batman." She said shaking her head.

"Yeah...he started watching it and got hooked on him." She replied with a soft giggle. "He's so quirky."

"Yeah, he always has been. Lots of energy too."

She smiled sadly then peered down to the floor. She held Kurt's cross tightly in her hand as she prayed for his safety.

Margali cleared her throat. "There's a few others outside wishing to know about Kurt's condition. I'm going to go out and speak to them." She said. She moved to Kurt and kissed his forehead before leaving Kitty alone with Amanda.

'Great...' Kitty thought as she peered at the blonde haired woman. Amanda stared back in silence, tension growing between them.

Amanda sighed. "Look I'm sorry for how I acted." She said. "It's not my place to say who Kurt can or can't date. And it was rude of me. It was just.... a shock you know?" She said. She smiled slightly. "I didn't realize how I felt about him until he was gone. The whole time he was gone I.... thought about what we'd do when he came back." She paused and sighed. "But that's not an option anymore."

Kitty didn't answer her as she turned her head towards her. "I don't think this is the best time to be telling me this." She replied as she held the cross tighter.

Amanda sighed. "I know.... I just wanted you to know that I'm sorry. I just wanted you to understand why I reacted the way I did."

"...I do..." She replied as she twisted the silver chain around her fingers. "I'm just afraid of you..."

Amanda was confused. "Why?" She asked.

"Women will do anything to get their man." She stared at her blandly, studying her reactions.

Amanda smiled. "Yeah I know... I've experienced some woman's wrath first hand." She said with a laugh. "But to be honest. I just want Kurt to be happy. And if that's with you then.... so be it." She said. "Besides we should probably be friends if you're going to be my sister in law one day." She said playfully elbowing Kitty's arm lightly.
