Angel In The Attic
Chapter 41
Fusedtwilight: Hi guys, sorry it has been so long. So good news bad news. Bad news my old beta Lisa has some issues and won't be able to beta for a while. Good news I have a new beta named Richard, lets welcome him to the story! And let me say thanks to Lisa for her many years of dedicated work. Hope everything works out.
On Utopia all the X-Men and the Champions had gathered to go over their mission plans.
"Alaska, Alaska Alaska Alaska," Michael said.
Everyone just stared at him.
"So are you retarded now or something?" Santo asked.
Michael sighed and used his telepathy to speak to them.
-It's an aftereffect of me using our Cerebro. What I meant to say is that Jericho is in Alaska.-
"And from what X-23 has told us Apocalypse is going to use him to activate all mutant genes to their full potential. This of course will have catastrophic effects," Scott said.
"When you said all mutant genes do you mean the active ones or the dormant ones?" David asked.
"Both," Scott answered grimly. "Many of you know what it is like to have your powers manifest under unfortunate circumstances. Now imagine that times a hundred. That is what we are looking at if this happens."
Many of the students looked disturbed at the thought. Like Scott had said many of them had suffered greatly when their powers manifested.
Many had little or no control of their own power, so the thought of their abilities growing even stronger scared them.
Even some of the X-Men were afraid of what would happen if such a thing happened.
Rogue sent her childhood crush Cody into a permanent coma when they had their first kiss. It should have been her special moment as a young girl, but her mutation decided to activate then of all times.
The longer she held onto someone the more of their life-force and memories she gained and in the case of superhumans the longer she retained their powers.
But if her potential was made to be stronger what if a single touch would kill someone and she would have to deal with their minds screaming in her head? Or what's worse, what if just being close to her could be deadly?
Even Gambit was worried, once he had to make a deal with Mr. Sinister to help him control his own powers by removing some of gambits brain tissue.
But Gambit was also afraid that if this mission failed he would return to those days when he would accidentally blow up random things just by getting to close to them, maybe even worse.
These thoughts were going through everyone's minds. The loss of control of one's power was terrifying.
"What about Jericho? I mean can he even do something like this?" Megan asked.
"Apocalypse is more then capable of enhancing his abilities to a level that would affect the whole world. Sadly amount of power needed would overload Jericho resulting in his death."
"Alask-"
-I mean that won't happen because we're going to take this fight to Apocalypse!- Michael said.
"And we will be going in full force. Apocalypse won't get away with attacking us or kidnapping our own people!" Scott said.
"So what's the plan?" Bobby asked.
The table everyone stood in front of lit up and a 3D image of Apocalypse's base appeared.
"Thanks to Laura's intel we know the general layout of the base. The majority of Apocalypse's army is made up of Infinites. They are cybernetic creatures made from the remains of Mr. Sinisters experiment."
Scott waited a moment for the sounds of disgust to die down.
"As we all know these creatures are very dangerous. But they do have a weakness. They are all controlled by an AI program. If anything happens to the AI then the infinites will be deactivated," Hank explained. He pointed a finger at a section of the base. "This is the processing plant and where the AI is kept."
"We will be splitting up into three teams. Team Alpha will cause a distraction outside to lure out the majority of the Infinites and if were lucky Apocalypse and his Horsemen. Team Beta will sneak into the Infinite processing plant and disable to AI. Team Gamma will look for Jericho and get him out. Without him Apocalypse can't enact his plan," Scott said.
"What about Warren?" Sofia asked.
"We will save Warren if we can, but for right now our priority is Jericho," Scott said.
"Why did he turn into Archangel?" David asked.
"It would seem that whatever changes Apocalypse did to him all those years ago were more than just cosmetic. There was a virus in his blood that activated and returned him to his archangel form," Hank explained.
"Wait...won't we be in danger then?" David asked.
Warren had developed a secondary mutation years ago, at first it appeared he had a healing factor similar to Logan's though not as powerful. It was later discovered that if he donated his blood to someone who was sick or injured it could heal them. So long as their blood was a match with his.
"The virus is designed specifically for Warren's genetic signature. No one who has shared blood with him will develop a blue skin tone nor a megalomaniac personality," Hank said.
The room was filled with sighs of relief.
"Who are the other Horsemen though?" Hope asked.
"Blut, Holocaust, and Abyss. We believe Abyss is has been brainwashed." Scott turned to look at Kurt. "We will do everything we can to rescue him as well."
"Thank you Scott, I was beginning to worry about Nils when I was unable to get in contact with him. Even our brother Kiwi was unable to find him. I should have known something was wrong."
Michael remembered Nils or Abyss as he was better known from the alternate reality Azazel created when he altered time. He had never met this worlds Nils but he was happy he wasn't like his counterpart.
Though with him now being brainwashed he was sure he was going to be very similar in personality and temperament.
But Michael was going to everything he could to save them all, Nils, Warren and Jericho.
"Megan will teleport team Alpha outside the base to draw out the Infinites, once the fight begins Illyana will teleport team Beta in the base to take down the AI then she will send in team Gamma to get Jericho," Scott explained.
Emma spoke next and began to name off who would be on which teams.
"Team alpha will by myself, Cyclops, Havoc, Rockslide, Storm, Iceman, Gambit, Hellion, Primal, Oya, Surge, Wind Dancer, Pixie and Dazzler. Team Beta will be Polaris, Sage, Sunspot, Cannonball, Match, Shadowcat, Zero, Armor, Thunderbird and Wolverine. Team Gamma will be the Champions, Dust, Psylock, Transonic, Velocidad, Nightcrawler, X-23 and Indra. Those who will not be going will stay here on Utopia and watch over the island. The Cuckoos will be staying here and using Cerebro to monitor our progress. If anyone is injured she will bring them back to Utopia where they will be healed by our healers Elixer and Triage."
Triage was a new recruit named Christopher Muse. A mutant with healing powers but unlike Josh who manipulated a person's DNA to heal Chris used the injured victim's life-force.
There was a saying among the X-Men. They had plenty of every kind of mutant save for healers. Although there were plenty of mutants who could heal themselves finding some who could heal others was more difficult. No one could say for sure why healers were the smallest powerset among the mutant community.
Though the X-Men wished there were more, with all the fights and near death experiences they had it would be a lot of help for them to have a being who could heal their injuries with but a touch.
"Laura shouldn't go, she's not ready," Logan said.
"I am fine Logan. All of Apocalypse's tech was removed from me," Laura responded, knowing Logan was being over protective.
"How do we know Apocalypse can't just do to you what he did to Warren?" Logan argued.
"I scanned her. I didn't sense anything out of the ordinary," Josh said.
"You're going to need me. I have been inside his base. I can help guide you once were inside," Laura said.
"We have scanned her mind several times and found nothing wrong," Phoebe Cuckoo said.
"Other than some traumatic memories and sociopathic tenancies she is in good mental health," Celeste said.
"Oh wow traumatic memories or sociopathic tendencies. Like that doesn't describe almost everyone present," Angie said rolling her eyes.
"Yeah cause it's not like none of us have been tortured, abused or lost a loved one at some point in our lives," Jacob said.
"Come to think of it how are any of us not insane?" Rickard asked.
"Says the guy who tried to kill himself," Julian said.
"Don' be a dick Julian," Sofia snapped at him.
"Focus people, we don't have time to waist," Scott spoke, his voice stern.
"How exactly does Apocalypse plan to use Jericho to do this?" Laurie asked, "Even with the technology at his disposal how would he do this?"
"As some of you may know there are thousands of satellites in the Earth's orbit. Apocalypse is going to use them to broadcast Jericho's power all over the planet. And this won't just affect mutants. This will cause anyone with a power to tap into their full potential," Hank explained.
"Even the Hulk?" Devin asked.
"More than likely yes."
"Oh man, he's going to shatter mountains with just a sneeze!" Devin exclaimed.
"No he won't because we won't allow Apocalypse to alter the world for his own agenda. Get ready everyone. We roll out in thirty minutes," Scott said.
As the X-Men got ready Julian was arguing with Sofia.
"I don't think you should go," he said.
"I am fine Julian stop nagging me!" she snapped at him.
"You were stabbed by Warren's feathers! You almost bled out!" he said a slight green glow began to shine from him.
"I know, but Josh healed me! Everyone else who was injured is going so why am I special!" she demanded as her hair began to move as the air around her began to blow angrily.
"Because you're pregnant!" Julian responded.
Sofia quickly placed her hand over his mouth.
"Don't say that so loud!" she hissed.
His metal hand gently grabbed her wrist and moved from his mouth.
"Then don't go. Or else I will tell Scott right now!" he threatened.
"You wouldn't dare!" she growled.
"You forget being an asshole is my other super power!" he growled back.
After Julian lost his arms during Bastions attack on the mansion he became very depressed and isolated from everyone including Sofia. One of the reasons he left the Champions was to reconnect with her and continue with their relationship.
Both of them were stubborn so it took a while for them to talk and once they did they were able to pick up where they had left off.
But a few days ago Sofia told him she was carrying his child and since then Julian had become severely protective of her. They had yet to tell anyone else and Sofia wanted to wait.
The only ones who knew were Hank because he had given her a pregnancy test and Josh. When he had healed her he sensed the growing life in her and promised to keep it a secret.
Now Julian was trying to keep her from going on the mission, fearing she might die or lose the baby.
"I'm still able to do the mission Julian, I am not that far in. The baby won't be harmed!"
"You don't know that!" he snapped.
"I asked Dr. McCoy!"
"It's my baby too Sofia and I don't want you and him in any danger!"
"Him?" she asked. "I think you mean her."
"Whoever it is!" he said waving his arms through the air.
"Holy crap you're pregnant!"
The two of them turned to see Wayne was above them sticking to the ceiling like...well...a bat.
But Wayne had spoken so loud all the other X-Men heard and were now looking at the pair with surprise.
"You idiot!" Sofia yelled.
She waved her arm and a powerful guest of wind blew Wayne across the room.
"I'm sorry!" he apologized as he flew through the air, his wings unable to fight back against the fury of Sofia's wind.
Scott, Emma, Dani and Hank were already making their way over to the pair.
"Julian, Sofia kindly explain what Wayne was talking about," Emma inquired.
"Pretty obvious isn't it?" Julian asked with a snarky tone.
"Sofia, are you sure you are with child?" Dani asked placing a comforting hand on Sofia's shoulder.
Sofia nodded. "Hank did a test for me."
"Hank, why didn't you tell me?" Scott asked.
"Doctor patient confidentiality," Hank said simply. "I have already gone over the options with her."
"And I am going to keep the baby," Sofia said firmly.
"We're keeping the baby," Julian said.
"How far are you?" Scott asked.
"She's not far, the fetus is not developed enough that I have to actually scan Sofia to detect a very small and faint presence," Emma said.
"Hey! Don't go reading my kids mind! You might give him brain damage or something!" Julian said placing one of his metal hands protectively over Sofia's belly.
"Oh for God's sake Julian do you really think Emma would risk harming a child?" Sofia said slapping the hand away.
"Is she good to go on this mission?" Scott asked Hank.
"Oh yes, at first I doubted she was pregnant because her scent did not show any signs of it. But she insisted I check. Thankfully our technology is advanced enough to detect these things very early on."
"What made you so sure you were pregnant?" Dani asked, "Weren't you using protection?"
"Well, I thought we were!" Sofia said glaring at Julian.
The others looked at Julian with expressions that demanded an explanation.
"Well...it's not like we have condoms lying around so I figured if I used my telekinesis to make a shield around my junk. I mean I did some experiments and it always worked. But I guess when we were doing it I lost focus a couple times."
Emma face palmed herself, Dani glared at him having a strong desire to use her illusion powers to torment him for his stupidity, Hank sighed and Scott gave him a stern look.
"I told her I was using protection!" Julian argued.
"I meant a condom you idiot! Not a telekinetically powered dick!" Sofia spat.
"Funny I don't recall you complaining at the time! You said the vibrations felt good!"
Sofia suddenly had a strong desire to pull the air out of Julian's lungs.
She actually began to raise her hand but Dani sensing her intent quickly pushed her hand down.
"Although I give you credit for being...creative Julian this puts us in a difficult position right now," Scott said.
"I am good to fight Scott," Sofia argued.
"But is Julian?" Scott asked. "If he is too busy worrying about you then he might not be able to be much use."
Julian saw the crestfallen look on Sofia's face. He knew how much she hated to be left behind while everyone would be off fighting. She had been the leader of the New Mutants team. It was not part of her nature to stay behind while everyone else fought.
"I won't be bothered by her going...on one condition," Julian said.
Using his power he pulled out a golden wedding ring with an emerald diamond.
Julian got down on his knee and the whole room became so silent you could hear a pin drop.
"Oh my God!" Sofia gasped.
"Sofia Mantega, I know we have our ups and downs. But I want to do right by you and our unborn child. If you will give me a chance I want to prove to you that I can be not only a worthy father but a worthy husband. Will you do me the honor of marrying me?"
"Julian...how...where did you get that?" she asked.
"I used up the last of the money I had saved up before my parents cut me off. I...I have been wanting to ask you this for a while. This baby thing just sealed the deal."
She gave him a dry look. "You could go and buy an expensive ring but not a pack of condoms?"
His ears turned a little red. "Cut me some slack woman! I was going to do this in private but since Tonda went and ruined my plans I had to improvise."
Sofia sighed.
"Julian there are days when I love you and days when I just want to beat you to death with your own metal hands. But I couldn't imagine a world without you in it. So yes, I'll marry you."
She held out her hand and he used his telekinesis to put it on her finger.
They wrapped their arms around one another and kissed.
The room filled with the sounds of applause as the X-Men cheered.
"See, it was a good thing I spilled the secret!" Wayne said.
Julian sent his left arm flying at Wayne where it hit him in the face and knocked him out.
Abreal opened his eyes.
He knew right away he was not dead.
And he knew he was not imprisoned. No prison he knew offered its prisoner silk sheets and a large four poster bed.
He touched his chest, there was no mark where he had impaled himself with his sword.
Where was he and why was he still alive?
Surely Adonai had not decided to take pity on him?
He sat up and looked around.
There was an open door that led to a balcony.
He got up and walked out and looked upon the vast sienna colored buildings with endless roads and alleyways. There was something familiar about it.
"Welcome to Rome," a feminine voice spoke.
He turned around to see a woman with pale skin, long glossy black hair and eyes like obsidian glass.
"Rome?" he asked quietly neither alarmed nor bothered by her sudden appearance.
"Much has changed since last you saw it," she said.
She walked toward him, he took note of the black leather pants that fit her lower area tight, showing off her generous curved. A black corset which showed much of her bosom with several gold chains hanging from her slender neck and a black cape she wore around her shoulders.
She was beautiful, but Abreal knew a viper when he saw one. This creature was dangerous. He knew death when he saw it.
"Why am I here?" he asked.
"I used my magic to bring you here. And I healed your injuries. It was not easy, that sword of yours is a truly lethal blade, especially to harm its owner so."
"It was designed to gill as all blades are. Obviously it was my intent to part from this world."
"And normally I am more than happy to help those who wish to die. But in this case I had to make an exception. You're a powerful man Abreal and I need help."
"What do you want with me?" he asked.
"Let us talk over breakfast. The servants will be coming here soon."
"Who are you?" he asked.
"I think you might have heard of me," she said with a venomous smile. "I am Selene."
Apocalypse examined Archangel with an approving look.
"Excellent. Once my plan comes to fruition the world will be filled with mutants who like Archangel have unlocked their full potential. Then I will build my army and wipe out all humanity!"
"Can't we get power ups now?" Blut asked with a petulant frown.
"You'll just have to wait until we activate the machine. Had you been wise like Archangel you would have struck the others down first? Words alone do not make one strong. Only swift action!" Apocalypse said giving Blut a harsh glare.
"My lord, perhaps we should enact your plan sooner than we anticipated. With X-23 back in the X-Men's hands it is only a matter of time before they learn of our plan and try and stop us," Sinister said.
"True. Those meddlesome fools may already be on their way here to stop me. How I will relish killing them and ending their pitiful existence after all these years!"
Apocalypse slammed his fist on the arm of his throne, crushing it with a single blow.
"Let us begin now. I will not allow my dream to be ruined again. If the X-Men come here we will end them!"
The alpha team appeared in a vast forest.
"Sooo...where is this base?" Rockslide asked looking around.
"Oh my gosh!" Pixie yelled.
Everyone became alert and took battle positions.
"What is it?" Cyclops asked, his hand already on his visor, ready to fire a blast.
Pixie bent down and picked up a dead bird.
"The poor thing," she said with a tearful expression.
Everyone sighed.
"I think you mean poor things," Surge said noticing dozens of dead birds on the ground.
"It's just a bunch of dead birds, so what?" Iceman asked.
Just then something hit the ground. Everyone jumped when they saw a large eagle lying motionless on the ground.
"Do birds just drop dead?" Rockslide asked.
Cyclops looked up. He noticed a strange cloud pattern in the sky. It was like the eye of a storm, there was a perfect circular formation.
As he watched one drifting nimbus suddenly halted and began to move around as if something had stopped it, yet there was nothing that could be seen that would explain this strange behavior.
You didn't have to be Storm to know clouds didn't just stop without good reason.
Placing his hand on the side of his visor he unleashed the full fury of his optic beam into the sky.
Instead of shooting straight into the sky it hit some invisible force, there was a flash of light and a vast ship that looked like two pyramids joined at the bottom appeared, it was covered in glowing hieroglyphics and despite the power of Cyclops's attack which could shred entire buildings, the ship remained intact.
But now that it was under attack Infinites began to pour out from it like a swarm of angry bees from a hive.
"Oh, there it is," Rockslide said.
"Lord Apocalypse we are under attack!" Sinister yelled.
"Right on time," Apocalypse said, neither worried nor concerned. "The fools think we would not expect an attack. But let us not be fooled. I have fought many wars and I know this is just a diversion. They think we will focus solely on them while other sneak in here like filthy rats and attack from within!"
Jericho looked at Apocalypse and grinned.
"They're coming for me you blue skinned freak!"
"Actually it's gray," Abyss said with a grin.
"Really? Looks more like a bluish gray to me," Blut said.
"Silence you idiots!" Archangel snapped at the two.
Archangel thinks he is so much better now that he is stronger. Just wait, when my power is fully unlocked I will trap him in the darkforce dimension and let him rot there, then we'll see who is the strongest! Abyss thought angrily to himself.
Apocalypse walked up to Jericho.
"Your faith in the X-Men is misplaced. I have fought them many times, each defeat helped me understand them better. Thanks to the capture of X-23 they no doubt know of how the Infinites operate. They will send a team to destroy the AI that controls them and send another team to rescue you."
He turned to his Horsemen. "Holocaust and Abyss will go to the Infinite factory and protect the AI. Blood King and Archangel will stay here and help Sinister protect the boy."
"I don't need protecting from them, just you!" Jericho snapped.
Sinister pressed a button which sent an electric jolt through the suit into Jericho which rendered him unconscious.
"I will go forth and face the fools who dare attack my home, this will be the day the X-Men finally cease to exist!"
Abreal and Selene sat on the terrace.
The sun was just rising off in the distance and Abreal could already here people moving about below.
Unaware of the evil that lurked above either one of them were capable of slaughtering hundreds within a few moments.
The ones serving them food seemed to be uneasy being near Abreal. They kept stealing glances at him but he paid them no mind.
They were nothing compared to the creature who sat across from him.
Selene, the woman who tried to murder his mother all those millennia ago.
Some believed that Apocalypse was the first mutant to exist, but Yahweh was older then he and Selene herself was said to be even older.
It was hard to tell which part of her powers were due to her own mutant nature and which were due to the dark magic she had cultivated over the eons.
Her hallmark ability was the power to drain the life-force of another being, reducing them to dust and making her young and strong.
How many had died to satisfy her hunger? No one knew, but Abreal was more than sure she was one of the few people who had taken more lives than himself.
In the old days all children of the Chayarafim grew up hearing the story of how Selene had tried to sacrifice Asherah to gain the power she sensed lying dormant in her.
Had it not been for Yahweh she would have succeeded.
Suffice it to say Abreal was not keen on sharing another moment of his time with the evil witch but he was still weak and you don't live to be as old as Selene by being dumb and weak.
"Are you not hungry?" she asked waving a hand to the table filled with food.
"I am more concerned with why you saved me. Surly you know of my lineage?" he inquired.
"Of course I do," she said with a grin.
She picked up a piece of toast and with a butter knife began to rub some jelly on it.
"The last son of Yahweh, or Adonai as he goes by nowadays. The one who in a single night wiped out the Chayarfim from the face of the earth. I can only imagine what that was like for him to discover," she said.
He raised his hand and the death mist shot forth, it bypassed Selene completely and attacked the servants who cried out in terror as their life-force was forcibly pulled from them.
They crumpled to the ground and the mist retracted.
"You could have at least waited for them to clean the table when we finished eating," Selene commented finishing her toast.
"I am in no mood for small talk. Start talking!" Abreal seethed.
"When I was born the elders of my tribe recognized my divinity. They commanded the people to offer their lives to me as an offering. My own mother who was barely a woman when she had me would die before I would even speak my first words. I have walked this world. Mastering the dark arts and seeing things that would shatter the minds of mortals. But for some time now I have grown tired of this plane of existence. To embrace godhood, transcending the binds of the flesh has been my goal for thousands of years. My attempt at your mother's life was one of many failed rituals. There is always someone thwarting me."
She wiped her mouth with her napkin and began to sip from her cup of tea.
She was so deceptive, to the common man she would look like an amazingly beautiful woman dressed rather provocatively enjoying an early morning breakfast.
How many were lured in by her beauty? Expecting a black rose only to find a Venus flower.
"But I have a new plan. One I need your help to fulfill. Once a long time ago I came here and seduced a foolish man to help me sacrifice all the souls of Rome to ascend. But the idiot was soft and tried to save one measly slave child. The child told her parents who told the centurions who captured the two of us and tried to burn us at the stake. But I was more than they could handle and was able to escape."
"I don't see what that has to do with me," Abreal said.
"I wish to repeat what I attempted all those years ago," Selene said.
"You want me to slay everyone in Rome?" he asked.
"Oh I am more than sure you could do that with the lovely mist you control. But no, I do not wish to sacrifice the living. For you see, the dead are far more numerous than the living."
"I was not aware resurrection was one of your talents," Abreal stated.
"It's not. But with your power it could be."
"Then I am sorry to say you have wasted your time. When I reanimate a body it is merely an empty shell. There is no soul."
"Ah, but with your power combined with mine it could be. And a very special page from the Darkhold."
"You mean the book of Chthon?" Abreal asked.
She nodded.
"The book holds dark spells even I cannot even begin to fathom. I have learned of a certain page that deals in true resurrection. With this page and our combined power we can resurrect millions and then sacrifice them and the power of their death will allow me to become a goddess at last."
"A clever plan. But I fail to see why I should give a hellish fuck about helping you."
She smiled. Most people would die a painful death for speaking to her in such a fashion. But Selene needed Abreal alive and would tolerate his insolence, plus she was sure his tune would change with what she would offer him.
"Think of it Abreal. Resurrection. Isn't there someone you wish to see again?"
Abreal tensed.
"Wouldn't you like to see your mother after all these years?" she asked
"My mother is dead," he said. His voice cold as ice.
"But we could bring her back."
"There is nothing to bring back. She was cremated," he said.
"Yes. But when one is a goddess such an issue matters not."
Abreal was quit for a moment. Could she be telling the truth? Could she really be able to bring back his mother?
Could he really trust this witch?
No, he could not.
"Swear an oath. A binding oath and I will assist you," he said.
"I swear on the moon and the darkness before the light that if you help me become a goddess I will resurrect your mother, not as a wraith nor a shade but as she was before she died."
She extended her hand and he shook it. He could feel the magic binding the two of them in the oath.
"So, where is this page?" he asked.
She grinned.
Gamma team walked down the halls of Apocalypse's base after having been teleported in by Magik, an alarm could be heard coming from everywhere as Alpha team raised hell outside.
"Psylock, can you sense where Jericho is?" Nighcrawler asked.
Psylock shook her head.
"Something about this place is effecting my telepathy," she said.
"She's right. I can hear the thoughts of our team because you are right in front of me. But if I try and extend my telepathy all I get is...static," Guardian said.
"Is it another psychic?" Tazmin asked.
"No, only Apocalypse and Sinister can use their mental powers. Keeps telepaths from running amok," X-23 said.
"Damn, that means we won't be able to contact the others mentally. And if we use our communicators we will be detected," Psylock said.
"Don't worry, were almost there," X-23 said.
A few moments later they came across a large door with the image of twin serpents coiled over a sun on it.
"This is it. Jericho will be in there," X-23 said.
"Let's bust it open!" Michael said raising his fist and summoning a ball of angel fire.
"The door is made from vibranium. There's no way we could bring it down before reinforcements arrive."
"Nightcrawler?" Psylock said.
"I need to know where I am going before I teleport, I could go inside myself, it would be less risky than teleporting everyone," Nightcrawler said.
"Wait, what if we hack our way in. Look there is a control panel," Transonic said pointing to a series of buttons and screens next to the door.
"It is a retinal, finger and voice scanner," X-23 said.
"What if Dust goes inside and messes with the wires?" Transonic asked.
"Good thinking. Dust, can you do it?" Psylock asked the Arab mutant.
"I am no computer expert. But I will try. Just give me enough time to do what I need to do," she said.
They watched as her whole body turned to sand. Then as if moved by some invisible wind it began to move each and every single particle made its way into the consoles.
They could hear the shifting dust moving inside and soon sparks began to issue forth.
"So...just a thought. Say she does something wrong and triggers an-"
Just then a new alarm began to ring, and the lights in the hall began to flash.
"Alarm," Indra said with a sigh.
Beta team had found the Infinite factory.
It was a vast room, bigger than a football stadium.
There were large vats of a disgusting churning liquid with human body parts inside slowly being dissolved.
Large tubes led from the vats to metallic cubicles which would open up to reveal a half-formed humanoid which would be removed by metallic hands to another section where smaller more nimble metallic arms would begin to infuse cybernetic components to the bodies.
Shadowcat summed up the whole thing with two words.
"Holy shit!"
"Trust me, the smell is worse," Wolverine said covering his nose.
"This place is Nirvana!" Zero said, a look of awe on his face. "Must we destroy it? It is so beautiful! Already my mind has begun to churn new exquisite ideas for art thanks to this wondrous place!"
"Can someone tell me why the hell we allowed this freak on the team!?" Match asked angrily.
"Because as X-Men and teachers we do not turn away a fellow mutant no matter their quarks," Armor said repeating what Scott and Emma had been repeating every time someone inquired as to why Zero was on the team.
"Maybe we should make an exception," Sunspot said as Zero wiped the tears from his face.
"Alright, enough talking gang. Let's hurry up and wreck this place!" Cannonball said.
"Not so fast!"
Abyss appeared like a dark shadow.
"You guys have a lot of balls coming here. But it matters not. You're not leaving here alive!"
"Yeah, who is going to stop us? You and what army?" Sunspot asked.
Abyss expanded and Holocaust and an army of Infinites came pouring out.
"Way to jinx it," Cannonball said.
"Can't you go any faster!?" Wayne asked as everyone fought the Infinites that responded to the alarm.
"I am a pile of dust trying to shred a system that is alien tech, give me a break!" Dust said from inside the console.
"How are you even able to talk if you are in dust mode?" Devin asked.
Kid Wendigo was still in his human form, the hall was too narrow for him to turn into her wendigo form. He would be too big a target.
"Jacob look out!"
Skald pushed him out of the way to avoid a laser blast. He raised his hand and hit the Infinite with a sonic blast which caused it to implode.
"Can't you transform?" Skald ask.
"My wendigo form is to slow and awkward in this hall and my thunderbird form would crush us all!"
"Isn't there something else you could turn into?"
"Like what?"
"I don't know. I mean if you can turn into a cannibalistic Sasquatch and a lightning throwing bird. Maybe there is something else you can do!" Skald said.
He was right. Why shouldn't he be able to assume more forms.
But the question was what?
Normally he would be in the Danger Room now testing such a theory.
But this was not a simulation, this was real life. And one wrong move could get himself, or worse one of the others killed.
When he turned into a thunderbird he was falling from a very high height. A fall he was not sure he would have survived even in his wendigo.
It was his need to adapt to the situation, to be able to fly that caused his transformation. He had needed a form that could fly and fight just as he had needed a strong and deadly form to fight that bear that had threatened him and his friends.
That was the key, his need for a suitable form.
And what did he need?
Something that was small enough to move about without running into anyone but still strong enough to fight off the Infinites.
Growing up he heard many tales and stories from Natives from both America and Canada. Which one of those mythic beasts would be right for something like this.
Then he remembered one of his friend's grandmother, a stern woman who enjoyed telling children scary stories to keep them in line.
Whenever they got to rowdy she would tell them.
You both better be good now, else the Pukwudgie's will come for you.
As if the memory had summoned it his body began to change.
He grew to be about six foot three and his skin turned from copper colored to rocky gray. Barbs and quills grew all over his body like evil little thorns. His fingers fused so instead of four he had two plus opposable thumbs with razor sharp claws.
He now looked like a hybrid of a troll and a porcupine.
"Jacob?" Skald asked looking shocked.
Kid Wendigo...or whatever he was going to call himself now leapt up in the air and struck an infinite flying through the air. His barbs cut through it easily enough.
The quills on his back bristled and stiffened, he spun around and felt the quills shoot out of his back like missiles and pierced a few Infinite's to the to the wall.
Smoke began to issue from where the quills touched them as the poison in the quills began to burn them like an acid.
"Dude that is awesome!" Velocidad said.
"Watch this then!" Jacob said with a laugh.
Another story he heard from the Inuits. The Amorak was a wolf who hunted alone and fed on anyone foolish enough to hunt by themselves.
His body reformed so he grew shaggy grey fur and was like a wolf the size of a bear with yellow eyes and a tail longer and thicker than a regular wolf.
He bit into an Infinite, and ripped it's upper body off. The Infinites came at him from behind him but his tail moved like a whip and slammed them into the wall, crushing them.
The other Infinites tried firing at him but he was so fast he was like a blur.
"Dude, way to go Kid Wendigo!" Wayne said.
"I think we're going to have to come up with a new codename for him," Tazmin said.
"How about Twilight?" Speed Demon said with a snicker. "Cause his name is Jacob and he can turn into a giant wolf!"
Jacob froze and turned his head to glare at his team mate.
"I swear to God, I will eat you and shit you out if you call me that!"
Speed Demon merely laughed.
"I got it!" Dust said.
The door began to slowly open.
"Skald, Kid Wendigo, Velocidad and Transonic, cover us while we go inside!" Psylock called out.
The rest of the team ran for the doorway, but stopped right at the entrance when they saw Sinister, Blut and Archangel waiting for them.
"Welcome," Sinister said with a wicked smile.
Outside team Alpha fought not only an army of Infinites, but they also had to deal with the ancient one himself.
Apocalypse had flown out of his ship, growing sixty feet tall. He fell to the ground sending a shockwave that knocked many of Alpha team back.
"Fools! You dare attack Apocalypse?!" he roared.
He went to stomp on them but Iceman and Hellion combined their powers to form a shield. The force of the kicked caused the earth to shake.
Cyclops, Dazzler, Gambit and Havoc hit Apocalypse with their strongest attacks, but it did little to phase him.
"I will build the foundation of my new world order on your bones!"
He turned his left hand into a massive hammer and slammed it on the barrier. Hellion screamed in pain as he felt the recoil of his telekinetic barrier being shattered and his nose began to bleed.
Iceman grabbed him and forming an ice-slide he moved them before Apocalypse could hit them again.
-Girls, tell Magik to bring Hellion to the island.- Emma spoke to the Stepford sisters who were monitoring the battle with Cerebro.
-Yes Miss. Frost.- They replied.
A few seconds later a stepping disc appeared and Hellion ran through, a moment later he ran back out, the blood from his nose gone and the stepping disc vanished.
"Beta team needs to hurry the hell up and destroy the AI we can't keep fighting the Infinites and Apocalypse!" Havoc yelled.
"Seeing how the Horsemen are not out helping I fear the teams are facing more then they can handle," Storm said as she threw a bolt of lightning at Apocalypse.
"Have faith, they will get the job done!" Cyclops yelled as he fire an optic beam at the ground near Apocalypse's feet causing him to lose his footing.
As he fell to his knees Rockslide let out a battle cry and with help from Hellion he jumped up and gave Apocalypse an uppercut right on his jaw.
But Apocalypse grabbed Rockslide and crushed him, his whole body crumbled to pieces.
"Santo!" Pixie yelled.
"Don't worry, he'll reform!" Surge said as she electrocuted several Infinites.
"Surge, can you absorb the power of the Infinites?" Oya asked as she froze one group of Infinites and burned another group.
"What do you mean?"
"Part of your power is you absorb electricity right? So if these things are part machine maybe you can absorb some of their energy!" Oya responded.
"I'll give it a try!" Surge said.
She readjusted the setting on her gauntlets and began to focus on the Infinites.
She could not feel any electricity powering the mechanical parts of the creatures. It was not a surprise. Such beings would need an energy source more powerful than simple electricity to allow them to live, to fly and fire their lasers.
But that didn't mean electricity couldn't be used to mess with their systems.
Her mutation allowed her to absorb electricity, but she couldn't control this part of her power. What's worse there was a limit to how much power she could hold before she would overload and lose control with harmful effects to herself and those around her.
But the gauntlets helped keep her from overloading and help her control the amount of electricity she absorbed.
But now she projected her power outward. Let it flow through their circuits and overload them.
Sparks flew from the parts of the Infinites that was electronic as they were fried by her power.
"It worked!" Pixie said happily.
"Shit that wore me out," Surge said.
"Might want to hurry up and recharge then cause there is still like a million more coming!" Oya said.
"Storm! Need a hit!" Surge yelled.
Storm heard her call and shot her with a bolt of lightning.
"That's the stuff!" Surge said.
"Pixie this might be a stupid question but can your dust mess with them?" Oya asked.
"I tried, the machine parts make them immune. But don't worry." Pixie used her soul dagger to cut the head off of an Infinite. She smiled savagely, her eyes filled with malice. "My dagger more than makes up for it."
"Is she always like that?" Oya asked looking concerned.
"Side effect of dark magic. Long story," Surge responded.
Armor, Zero and Polaris fought Holocaust while everyone else fought Abyss and the Infinites he brought.
Shadowcat was running through as many machines as she could while everyone else fought. Her power would cause the electronics in them to malfunction.
"Holocaust stop her!" Abyss yelled.
"Little busy!" Holocaust barked back.
"My muse!" Zero called out in delight as he used his power to create several spider like monsters made from fallen Infinites and debree.
"Oh God not you again!" Holocaust moaned. "Abyss, switch me! This kid freaks me out!"
"Says the flaming skeleton named after the worst genocide in history!" Abyss said.
"Shadowcat, go get the AI, We'll handle these guys!" Sage yelled.
"Got it!" Shadowcat said and went running down the room looking for the AI computer.
"Damn it all to hell!"
Abyss went to follow her but Cannonball flew into him, sending him flying into several Infinites.
"You ain't going nowhere fella. We promised Kurt we wouldn't hurt you too much but if you keep making a fuss we'll have to get rough with you!"
Cannonball let him go and Abyss soared through the air, Sunspot jumped up in the air and slammed both of his fists into Abyss's back and sent him flying to the ground.
Sunspot flew at Abyss to knock him out but Abyss uncoiled his right arms, causing it to enlarge and ensnare Sunspot.
But Cannonball flew forward and grabbed Sunspot from Abyss''s grasp.
"I don't have time to waste on you small fry! I need to stop that idiot girl before she gets to the AI!"
"We're not letting you go anywhere Abyss," Sunspot said.
Abyss smiled. "You can't help her...and fight Sinister's new project."
Just then the floor began to open up.
"Allow me to introduce you to a new kind of Infinite Sinister has been working on. Think of it as Infinite 2.0," Abyss said.
A new Infinite flew up, it was a monstrosity. It was twenty feet tall and had three heads and four arms and eight tentacles coming out of its back each one equipped with a laser.
"Have fun boys!" Abyss said before he vanished.
The Infinite came to life, it locked onto the duo and a compartment on its chest opened up to reveal a cannon like laser that began to charge up to fire.
Sunspot took a deep breath. "Oh God-"
"-Damn it Warren stop firing at us!" Psylock yelled out as Archangel continued to fire an endless volley of feathers through the doorway, keeping them from entering.
"There is no Warren! I am Death!" Archangel yelled.
"Why the hell does he look like a giant bird?" Tazmin asked.
"Jericho must have powered him up!" Seraph said.
"Bloody hell, Guardian if you help me please," Psylock said.
Guardian nodded and the two combined their telekinesis to form a shield that deflected Archangels feathers.
The others stood behind them and they marched forward.
"I'm coming for you Blut!" Speed Demon yelled from behind Psylock.
"Devin? Wow still alive? I thought for sure you would be dead," Blut said cheerfully.
"I am harder to kill then that you little punk!" Speed Demon roared thumping his chest.
"Then I guess I'll have to try even harder!" Blut chuckled.
Suddenly Psylock and guardian cried out in pain and their telekinetic field began to falter, some of the feathers began to get through. Psylock took on to the arm and Guardian to the shoulder.
"Sinister...attacking out...minds!" Guardian cried out.
Seraph could sense Sinister attacking, could sense his mind. Either Sinister didn't know Seraph had telepathy now or he didn't think he was a threat. But Seraph sensed him and knew he was somewhere in this room, remaining hidden ready to attack their minds while Blut and Archangel maimed them with blood and steel.
"Skald, Kid Devil use your powers!" Seraph said.
Kid Devil let out a shriek that was a thousand times worse than nails on a chalkboard. But Skald used his sound manipulation powers to protect everyone and project it outward to Sinister and the Horsemen.
He magnified the sound and Archangel and Blut screamed and covered their ears.
From the side of the room at a control panel a man appeared with skin whiter then snow and eyes that glowed red. Seraph knew he was Sinister. He had been using his psychic powers to keep himself hidden from view.
"Take them down!" Psylock yelled.
As much as she wanted to go after Archangel she knew she had to focus on Sinister. She had not been expecting his psychic assault but would not be caught off guard a second time. He was a bigger threat then the Horsemen and needed to be taken out quick.
Seraph, Indra, Nightcrawler, Guardian and Skald fought Archangel while Speed Demon, Kid Devil, Tazmin, and X-23 fought Blut.
"X! So glad to see your back!" Blut said as he dodged one of her attacks.
"You betrayed me!" she growled at him.
He encased his left hand in a layer of blood which hardened and he punched her in the side.
"You were trying to turn me into something I am not. I tried being a hero but heroes don't kill and I wasn't raised to not kill," he said.
X-23 bent down, at first Blut thought it was to clutch her side in pain but he should have known if anyone was immune to pain it was X-23.
When she bent down Tazmin jumped over her and kicked him right on the chest.
"We let you into our home and you almost killed Devin and you kidnapped Jericho! You're a monster!" she yelled.
She began to spin around Blut was caught in her pull and began to fly around.
He opened his mouth and vomited a stream of blood which was pulled into the vortex and Tazmin fell to the floor struggling to free herself from his blood which was smothering her.
"You say monster like it's a bad thing!" Blut said with a smile.
He opened his mouth and another stream of blood shot out and headed for Tazmin, but Kid Devil landed in front of her and used his wings to shield her.
Blut smiled and opened his mouth. Blood began to pour out, forming a makeshift spear. He spat it at Kid Devil and with its new shape it was sure to skewer the Champion even with his wings shielding him.
But then there was a blur of speed as Speed Demon grabbed the spear and ran at Blut, piercing him on the left shoulder and pinning him against a wall.
"It's one thing to attack me!" he growled. "But you attack my friends and shit will go down!"
Blut just smiled. "Still haven't learned from the last time we fought. Oh wait, fighting implies you actually fought back!"
Speed Demon grinned. "Oh I picked up a few tricks."
He reached into his belt and pulled out the syringe and jammed it into his neck.
Blood spikes shot out from Blut's chest and almost impaled Speed Demon but with his reflexes he was able to avoid them.
Blut summoned a pair of swords and blood armor and the spear in his shoulder was absorbed back into his body.
"I don't know what that was but-"
Before Blut could finish the armor began to melt as did the swords he was holding.
"Wh-what?!" he asked as he struggled to maintain control of his blood.
"A little thing called anticoagulant. Try manipulating your blood now you dick!" Speed Demon said with a victorious smile.
"Die!" Archangel yelled swiping at Seraph with his wing.
Seraph brought up the spear and blocked his attack, luckily the metal of his spear was able to withstand the blow.
"Indra get him!" Seraph yelled.
Indra was once able to summon an armor plating that greatly enhanced his durability and strength. But after the Purifiers attacked the mansion his powers had changed. Before he looked like a mix between an armadillo and a rhino. Now when he activated his power he developed an ornate Hindu styled medieval armor the same color as his skin and could summon swords and daggers and make them float in the air.
Normally a person would be happy at such a development in their powers but Indra practiced Jainism. A religion based upon the belief of absolutely no violence, especially upon another living being. Ironic seeing how he named himself after a war god.
Indra summoned two swords and attacked Archangel. His blades were able to cleave through solid rock but what ever organic metal Archangels wings were made from were much more durable then any rock and he used his other wing to shield himself..
Nightcrawler teleported behind him and went to kick his head.
But Archangel went to kick Seraph with a foot that was now like an eagles claw with sharp talons. Seraph jumped back to avoid the attack. He then used his other wing to throw a volley of feathers at Nightcrawler who teleported out of the way.
"Warren snap out of it!" Guardian yelled using her power to stop his feathers from hitting her.
"No sense in trying to talk sense into him Franziska, he's like a pissed off bluejay," Skald said.
"I can't get in his head. Apocalypse must have done something," she said.
"Michael, get Jericho. We'll deal with him!" Nightcrawler yelled as he landed a punch across Archangel's face that didn't even phase him.
Seraph nodded and flew off towards Jericho.
Archangel went to fly after him but Skald hit him with a sonic blast that sent him flying against a wall.
While they battled Archangel, Seraph flew over to Jericho and was shocked to find his cousin in some horrid armor.
"Jericho! Wake up!" Seraph said shaking his cousin.
Jericho began to stir. He opened his eyes and his eyes focused on Seraph.
"Michael?" he asked weakly.
"It's okay, we're here to rescue you." Seraph set his spear down and began to inspect the armor and the machine it was attached too. "How do I get this damn thing off!"
"Wow, you swore. Must be pretty bad," Jericho muttered weakly.
"Let me try getting you out of this armor. Then maybe I can pull you out of the machine," Seraph said.
"It's hooked into me...the armor...hurt like a bitch. That sick bastard-"
Jericho's eyes widened in fear, looking over Seraph's shoulder.
Seraph spun around and found himself face to face with Mr. Sinister.
"You must be the cousin," he stated.
"Let him out!" Seraph growled.
"Too late boy, I set the machine to pre-activate, right about...now."
Jericho began to scream as the machine began to activate.
Seraph brought his fist back to smash the machine but then Sinister attacked his mind like he did Psylock and Guardian. Seraph didn't have anywhere near the level of experience they did so he was easy prey for a monster like Sinister.
"I think I'll keep you alive. An omega level mutant such as yourself is far too valuable a prize to dispose of," Sinister said with a laugh.
But the laugh died before he could finish as there was a flash of purple energy around his head and he fell to the floor unconscious.
There was a nasty cut on her head, her hand was clenched in a fist as her psi-knife blazed with psychic energy.
"Should have made sure I was dead you bloody tosser!"
"Betsy help!" Seraph said as Jericho continued to scream in pain.
Psylock ran to the control console. She was more than just a pretty face, she did know a thing or two about computers. (it also helped being able to read minds)
"Damn, I can't shut it down. Sinister locked it with a passcode. There's no time to crack it."
"Then we'll just have to try something else," Seraph said.
He raised his hand and pointed it at the machine above Jericho.
"No don't!" Psylock yelled.
There was a flash of light and Seraph fired a beam of angel fire that shot forth to the machine above them it exploded.
But Jericho was still screaming in pain.
"The armor is what activates his power!" Psylock yelled. "The machine was just designed to channel the energy he will release!"
"So...whats going to happen?"
"My guess? The armor is going to force his power to activate but without the machine to channel it will simply project outward...at us!"
"Oh shit," Seraph said.
Jerich began to glow with a blue light. Sensing what was about to happen he fell to the ground.
-Everyone down!- he yelled telepathically.
Several beams of blue light shot out from Jericho. The others avoided the beams, but it managed to hit Indra, Nightcrawler and Tazmin.
The energy around Jericho died down but Tazmin and Indra continued to glow. A wind began to blow in the room, slowly but surely picking up speed. Indra began to grow, his armor began to change.
He grew to twenty feet tall, he grew four pairs of arms, the face guard on his helmet disappeared showing that the tilak mark on his forehead became a glaring red eyes, his teeth became sharp and his canines turned into wicked looking tusks. His short red hair grew, flowing down his shoulders like a red river.
He opened his mouth and let out a war cry. His third eye began to glow with a red light and he fired a beam or red energy which cut through the wall and he ran through the opening.
"Indra!" Seraph yelled.
"He's lost control of his powers. We need to get Jericho somewhere safe," Psylock said.
"Let's get Nightcrawler to-"
Seraph noticed Nightcrawler was teleporting over the place. He had not changed physically but it was like he was having difficulty controlling his ability.
Transonic and Velocidad appeared next to them.
"We cleared the Infinites outside. Was that Indra who came running out?" she asked.
"He got hit by Jericho's power. We need to get him out of the suit," Seraph said.
"What have you fools done!?"
They turned to see Sinister had awoken.
"You destroyed the machine! That was the only thing that could funnel his power!"
"Get him out Sinister," Psylock said.
"I can't you miserable sow! One of his beams his the control panel and fried it!" Sinister yelled pointing at the now ruined control panel. "At the rate he is going now he has about an hour or less before he is burned out!"
"Yeah? Well you are about to burn out right now," Seraph said coldly.
He raised his palm and a sphere of angel fire appeared, he charged it up then threw it at Sinister. The second it touched him his whole body erupted in a pillar of fire and he barely had time to scream before he turned to ash.
"Nice job Michael. Though I am afraid that was just a clone," Psylock said.
"What?" Seraph asked.
She sighed. "When I was fighting him I saw he was one of the real Sinisters clones. I bet the real one is somewhere else doing God knows what."
She handed Jericho to Transonic. "Take him out of here. Once you're able to make contact with Utopia have Magik pull you there. Hopefully Beast will be able to do something about this damned suit."
Transonic nodded and took Jericho and ran away with him.
"What should we do?" Seraph asked.
"Take down Warren and Blut. Now that the rest of the team is here it shouldn't be too hard, then we'll go after Indra...assuming Tazmin doesn't start a hurricane!"
Guardian was standing next to Tazmin trying to calm her down, the wind in the room was so strong now it was starting to mess with everyone's ability to walk.
And it was only getting worse.
"How freaking big is this place!" Shadowcat grumbled as she continued to run, the sounds of fighting could be heard in the distance.
She was still searching for the AI.
Finally she found a large machine with wires that extended to several mainframes. Several screens on the machine showed images of the Infinites and different kinds of data on them.
"Got yeah!" she said with a smile.
All she had to do was phase right through it and it would overload and all those freaky cyborgs would die.
She shuddered to think of how Sinister made them, if what X-23 said was true then they were made from leftovers from Sinister's experiments. But there was no way he burned through so many people to make an entire army.
She figured he must have used his cloning technology to make some extra flesh for this factory.
More than once the X-Men had thought they were rid of Sinister, but it always turned out to be a clone. One of him was bad enough.
"Stop right there!"
Abyss appeared like a dark shadow emerging from thin air.
"Nils wait!" she said.
"My name is Abyss!" he roared.
"Please think about what you are doing! This isn't you! Your Kurt's brother! A good person!" she said trying to reason with him.
The X-Men had their eyes on Abyss even before it was revealed Nightcrawler was his brother. They had tried to track him down but he was an elusive man, tracking teleporters of his caliber was tricky.
But when the incident with Azazel happened and Kurt met Nils and their other brother Kiwi Black the X-Men offered them both spot on the team. Kiwi politely declined, preferring to return to his peaceful life in New Zealand. Abyss was tempted but enjoyed traveling the world but still kept in close contact with his brothers.
He was a lot like Kurt. He loved adventure and was mischievous. Nothing like the monster he was now.
But Apocalypse could twist the best into a dark reflection of their former selves.
"I am a Horsemen of Apocalypse now! I serve my master faithfully and will destroy anyone who gets in my way! Starting with you!"
Coils began to extend from his body, ready to ensnare her but Shadowcat wasn't worried about them, she could easily pass through them. But it was his ability to draw people into the vortex his body held that worried her. If he used that even she would be sucked in.
But she didn't have to worry about that. Because there was a familiar sound that could be heard from behind Abyss.
BAMF!
At first she thought Nightcrawler had teleported behind Abyss, but she had known Kurt long enough to recognize the smoke that appeared when he teleported.
It wasn't a dark purple color, it was scarlet red.
There was a flash of yellow light and Abyss screamed and fell to the floor.
Azazel stood behind him, hand outstretched after having cast a spell.
"Been a long time son," he said to the unconscious mutant.
"Azazel!" Shadowcat gasped.
She knew it had to be Nightcralwers father, though she had not met him personally she heard he looked like Kurt only with red skin and four fingers with opposable thumbs.
"I take it from that uniform you are one of my son's comrades?" Azazel asked dryly.
"What are you doing here?" she asked.
"Merely collecting my son. I have need of him and since your here that means whatever plan Apocalypse has come up with is about to go down in flames."
He walked over to Abyss, his tail sneaked out and wrapped around his arm.
"Tell Kurt I said hi. And don't worry about Nils, I'll make sure he is taken care of."
With one last smirk that mirrored Nightcrawler's, Azazel teleported away. Taking Abyss with him.
Taking a few seconds to ponder at what just happened Shadowcat turned her attention to the AI. Deciding to tell everyone what happened later she ran and jumped through the giant machine.
Instantly there was a surge of electricity and sparks began to fly out. The screens began to frizzle and Shadowcat jumped back out, a moment later and began to run.
A moment later the whole thing exploded.
Team beta was fighting Holocaust, the Infinites and the larger upgraded Infinite.
It had ahold of Sunspot, all three of its tails were aimed at his head about to fire.
"This is the end of you X-Men!" Holocaust yelled. "This time, we will win!"
Just then all the Infinites fell to the floor, the one about to kill Sunspot released him and he ran out of the way before it fell forward, nearly crushing him.
"What the hell?" Holocaust asked.
"Guess Kitty destroyed the AI," Thunderbird said.
"Damn Abyss! He was supposed to stop her!" Holocaust yelled. "No matter, I don't need the Infinites to kill you all!"
He raised his cannon and was about to fire at them when the ceiling exploded.
Indra fell down and landed on Holocaust, the impact caused them both to fall through the floor and into the lower levels.
"What the hell was that?!" Match asked.
"Was that Indra?" Armor asked.
"Since when did that kid have three arms?" Wolverine asked.
Just then Shadowcat appeared running down the hall.
"Guys the AI is down but Abyss was...why is there a giant hole in the floor?" she asked.
When the Infinites outside all deactivated team Alpha knew team Beta had suceeded.
But that didn't stop Apocalypse from attacking them, in fact seeing his army fall powerless to the ground angered him.
"Damn you all to the pit of hell!" he yelled.
He turned his left hand into a cannon and took aim at Storm, Pixie and Winddancer who were flying above him. He fired a bullet of energy they managed to avoid but when it exploded behind them the shock waved knocked them from the sky.
Iceman managed to catch them using his ice-slide but they were unconscious. Seeing his fiancé injured made Hellion enraged.
"You dusty old fuck!" he roared.
"Julian no!" Emma yelled as Hellion flew at Apocalypse.
He summoned all his telekinetic might and hit him right on the chest, sending him flying back onto the ground.
Hellion flew up into the air and then flew back down, he altered his aura so it resembled a drill, he was going to finish of Apocalypse and make him pay for attacking his family.
But Apocalypse swatted him away like a bug.
"Pest! You think you can match me?" he stood up and slammed his fists onto the ground. A telekinetic wave shot forward and knocked everyone down.
"You will all suffer for your insolence!"
He raised his fists to make another attack. But then there was an explosion from above and Indra and Holocaust fell from the sky.
The hit the ground, Indra stood onto of Holocaust and beat his chest with all six hands in triumph.
"Is that Indra?" Surge asked.
"What happened to him?" Dazzler asked.
Indra kicked Holocaust and he flew through the air and landed on the ground.
"My son why have you failed me?" Apocalypse demanded.
"It was not me father, it was Abyss who failed in his duty!" Holocaust responded.
He stood up and aimed his cannon at Indra. "The two of us should be able to deal with these pests, but first I shall lay low this creature who thinks he can attack a son of Apocalypse and live!"
He fired his cannon at Indra.
Indra rested his middle and lower arms on his hip in an arrogant manner while his upper arms clapped his hands together where they made a hand sign.
His third eye began to glow red again and it shot out another laser. The two beams met and at first they were evenly matched, but then slowly Indra's beam began to push through Holocaust's.
Indra let out a roar and the beam shot forward. Enveloping the bastard of Apocalypse and leaving nothing left but a black smoldering spot on the earth.
Apocalypse roared in pure rage and ran for Indra.
Despite the fact he faced an opponent much larger then himself Indra let out a war cry and summoned a sword in each hand and met Apocalypse head on.
"Cyclops!"
Transonic appeared with Jericho in her arms.
"We got him!"
"What happened?" he asked.
"We destroyed the machine he was attached to before it could activate but it's this suit that powers him up, but without the machine his power is firing randomly. It hit Nightcrawler, Tazmin and Indra."
"Where is the rest of your team?" he asked.
"Back inside fighting Blut and Archangel," she said.
Cyclops grabbed his communicator and called Hank back on Utopia.
"Hank we got him, have Magik open a disc to your lab in Utopia. Be careful, Jericho is wearing a suit that is activating his power."
A moment later a stepping disc appeared and Transonic took Jericho through it.
"Emma can you communicate with Indra?" Scott asked.
"I have been trying but he is only focused on fighting right now. Hard to believe this is the same boy who cries when he steps on a bug," Emma responded.
"Is he dangerous to us?" he asked.
"Darling, let's just say he is in a destroy everything kind of mood."
"I can't control it!" Tazmin cried.
She could feel her power growing out of control, could feel her body fighting against her. Even though she wasn't spinning right now the wind in the room had picked up considerably.
"Focus Angie, you can do this," Franziska said soothingly to her teammate.
"I can't! I'm losing it!" Tazmin cried.
She slowly began to rise up into the air. Her body began to spin faster and faster.
Guardian backed away. She used her telepathy to try soothing her but it was only slowing the process down.
X-23, Kid Devil and Speed Demon were still fighting Blut. He was having difficulty getting his blood to solidify but it still made for a good whip.
"I should thank you Devin for doing this. Making me weaker makes this a more interesting a fight!" Blut said with a chuckle.
He lashed out with a pair of blood whips, one grabbed Speed Demon's right arm and the other his left leg.
Kid Devil flew in behind him and stabbed him in the back with his talons. X-23 stabbed him in the front with her claws.
"Do it!" she said to Kid Devil.
He opened his mouth and screamed right in Blut's ear. X-23 closed her eyes and grit her teeth, with her enhanced hearing the affect was much worse. But as stated before she was no stranger to pain.
Blood began to pour out of their eyes and ears. When X-23 could no longer take it and fell to her knees Kid Devil stopped.
The two of them released Blut from their grip and he fell to the floor.
The blood whips liquefied and Speed Demon stood up.
"Hey Blut, remember that time you almost killed me?" he asked.
He ran forward and kicked Blut right in the face, knocking him out cold.
"Dick." he spat.
He looked to here Tazmin floated in the air. She was starting to pin and even from where he stood he could feel the wind trying to pull him in.
"You guys take care of him, I am going to help Tazmin," he said.
The rest of the team fought Archangel.
Even with several of them working together, fighting him in his enhanced form was no small feat.
Thunderbird distracted him with a blast of plasma which Archangel used his wings to shield himself, but then Skald attacked him with a sonic blast that severely affected his equilibrium.
Nightcrawler had managed to gain control of his teleportation again, normally he could only travel two miles but Jericho's power had allowed him to travel much further.
He had been to a funeral, a five year olds birthday, the cafeteria at some high school and a church that was having a service.
But he focused and appeared behind Archangel, he touched his wings and teleported them away, it caused Archangel a great deal of pain but it lost him his shield.
But he was far from defenseless. He scratched Nightcrawler across the chest and punched him away.
But Psylock snuck up behind him and stabbed him with her psy-knife.
Seraph ran to him and placed his hands on his head and using all his strength he used his healing power.
Adonai told him his healing didn't just cleanse the body of physical wounds and illness. It could cure a person of mental and spiritual ailments as well.
And being brainwashed by an ancient evil mutant was a definite ailment.
Archangel's whole body shined with a white light that blinded everyone.
When it died down there was no Archangel.
Just Angel. His was back to his human form, his skin was no longer blue and his wings were back but no longer metal.
He fell back and Psylock caught him.
"I think we can call this a successful mission," Psylock said as she held onto her husband tightly.
"You get Warren out of here, I need to go help with Tazmin now," Seraph said.
"I shall come back for you," Nightcrawler said.
He teleported away with Psylock and Angel.
Seraph and the rest of the team went to go help Tazmin, though they weren't sure what they could do to help. But if she didn't stop they were sure she could possible destroy the whole ship.
"Angie! Can you hear me?!" Speed Demon yelled over the roar of the wind.
He ducked just in time to avoid a large chunk of metal that almost hit his head.
Tazmin was spinning so fast now she was a blue and a mini-twister had formed around her.
"Angie! I know it's tough but you have to try and control your power!" he yelled.
She didn't respond, where she was unable or if she could even here him was unknown.
"I know you can do it Angie! I believe in you because you are our anchor! Every one of us has had something bad happen. Something that has scarred us for life. But your one of the few people who hasn't had to go through that. And that is good. We need people like you to remind us that life isn't just pain. That we can have a normal life with love and happiness. You keep us grounded and even though you have been through so much crap since you joined the X-Men you never give up. You've faced demons, homicidal robots, evil zealots and worse and you're still fighting the good fight. You are a Champion Angie McKay, and you beat this! I know you will!"
The wind began to falter, slowly Angie stopped spinning but continued to float in the air.
"Devin...I...can't...help...please!" she begged as she struggled to stay in control.
Speed Demon ran and jumped up in the air and wrapped his arms around her and pulled her down.
"Michael!" he yelled.
Seraph was already running to them and placed his hands on her head. Just like Angel she was enveloped in a white light.
When the light died down she was back to normal.
She looked up at Speed Demon and smiled at him.
"Thank you Devin."
He might be five years younger than her and could be really annoying. But in that moment Tazmin thought he looked rather...handsome.
He smiled at her.
"Always happy to help a damsel in distress."
"And there it is," she said with a sigh.
Just then Nightcralwer appeared.
"I took Betsy and Warren to Utopia. But we need to get the others and get outside. It's a-"
"Freaking warzone!" Kid Wendigo yelled as Nightcrawler teleported them outside.
They found the others and teleported outside.
It was now a three-way battle between Apocalypse, the X-Men and Indra.
"Give it up Apocalypse! We got Jericho back and your Horsemen are gone!" Cyclops yelled.
"Damn you all! This is not the end! I will leave you to battle your comrade. I hope he kills you all!"
Apocalypse vanished and a moment later so too did his ship.
But Indra did not mourn the loss of the ancient mutant, instead he focused all his attention on the X-Men.
Seraph turned into his beast form and Armor grew her armor as big as she could and together they charged at Indra. He summoned a rope that tightened around Armor which caused her armor to dissipate but shrunk to compensate for her form.
He then summoned a bow and shot a single arrow in the sky which turned into a thousand smaller arrow which then rained down upon the X-Men.
A few got hit but others managed to dodge.
Iceman tried encasing him in an ice-cage but Indra summoned a large fiery sphere that evaporated the cage and severely burned some of the X-Men safe for Seraph who ran into him.
They both toppled to the ground. Indra summoned a pair of daggers which he stabbed into Seraphs side who roared in agony.
But he merely ignored the pain and grabbed his face and focused his healing power.
As Indra began to shrink down Seraph assumed his human form and pulled the dagger out of his side.
"Wh-what happened?" Indra asked.
"We won. That's all," Cyclops said.
He knew Indra was a practitioner and the idea of killing even an abhorrent being such as Holocaust would pain him greatly
"And you killed Holocaust! Did it was awesome! You fucking vaporized him and he screamed like a little bitch! You can see where he died, it's that black scorch mark!" Hellion said pointing to where Holocaust died.
Indra looked at the scorch mark in horror and everyone else glared at him.
"I hope to God you take after me," Winddancer said rubbing her belly.
