Hello readers- Just a friendly suggestion, but comments are good, just an FYI. Feedback is helpful, thoughts and opinions are interesting. This chapter has been edited on 10/1/2011 in response to LadyLoin's concern about why the "magic potion" technique was never utilized. --
__________________________________________________________________ Beast requested that Kate sit down, despite her stubborn intent on strangling Kurt, should she ever get her arms back. "I don't need to sit! It'll sound the same standing up or with my ass in a chair!" She retorted, struggling against Kurt's efforts to keep her still. "If I let her sit down, she'll find someway to assault me with the chair," Kurt chuckled across the room. Beast sighed and slipped his glasses back on. "I can't help but think you started this somehow," he rested his weight on the ledge of a large bookcase, "This aught to be interesting-" anticipating the hostility to follow. "I have the results of your blood-work and it seems that either I am unable to explain the phenomenon, or that I am missing a few pieces of the narrative." "Missing, what are you missing?" she asked, abandoning her hopeless pursuit. "NightCrawler - Kurt, here came to us three days ago with a graze on his arm and a dart containing genetic material not far from the graze. I'm guessing a second dart, a catalyst, was intended to be introduced either simultaneously or shortly after, but for whatever reason, it was not," he replaced his weight on his feet and stood besides Xavier, "you had the same bullet that grazed Kurt in your shoulder, but I examined it and there is not mechanism for the release of anything, it was just a bullet, likely intended to prevent Kurt from teleporting. Without knowledge of there actually being a catalyst, it leaves the possibility that you came into contact with Kurt while he was teleporting and it's a case of physics gone wrong, some kind of genetic transfer took place-" Beast went down the list of possibilities until Xavier interrupted him. "There was a catalyst, wasn't there Ms. Leander," more so informing than asking. She shrugged off Kurt's now loosened grip and stepped forward, " I can't even intelligibly pretend to understand you," she folded her arms, "They didn't touch me. They took my bag and left me to die, I didn't see this thing you are tal--" she remembered the giant fishhook like object from her neck and touched where it had been. "How," she addressed Xavier, "how did you know, I didn't even know--" "I'm telepathic," he explained, "I can read thoughts, emotions... memories. You had the same dart in your neck-- that was the catalyst." She drew in an audible breath, unable to keep her feelings from overwhelming her. Kurt had become aware of her change in mentality and kept closely behind her. He nodded towards Beast, a silent agreement that if she became belligerent, he was there to stop her. "Kurt's blood acted in the stead of the genetic material the catalyst would react with, and it is because of this you will now have a dependence on his DNA in order to live-" "I'm sorry," sarcasm dripped on her words, "I thought you said something like I am stuck with this thing," her body tensed up, "and I am not injecting myself with demon-boy's blood over here for what ever the reason may be-" "You can't inject his blood into yours, you aren't compatible blood types, you'll suffer agglutination and die," Beast explained, feeling like he ended the questioned rather finitely. "Am I suppose to drink it?" "Only if you wanted to be sick and throw up soon after. You aren't a vampire and besides, most of the material would be destroyed by the digestive process" he thought about it for a second more wondering if it was a road worth going "Even if you avoided being sick, I can imagine your body would break it down like food, not leaving enough, or any material to be salvaged--" he shook his head as he concluded it to be an inefficient and unlikely method. -- and that would be almost anything. "There's no way of knowing yet how fast your body will metabolize it, no matter your method, but if you aren't able to intake his DNA, you're immune system has been altered to atta-" "I'm going to die," she stared at her knuckles, "either way." Her knees buckled and Kurt caught her. She whacked his arm away, "This," her breathing picked up, "-this would be your fault, don't touch me." She went for the door. Kurt teleported and blocked her exit, "Don't leave like this, fraulein, I want to help you," his accent hanging on the 'w'. Xavier cleared his throat, his fingers laced in front of his mouth, "Beast didn't say you'd die-" She spun herself around to face them, "I heard what -" Now it was Beast's turn to cut her off, "I didn't get to finish saying anything," he straightened himself out, "Now if I may," looking at her to confirm she was going to shut up," individuals everyday find ways of exchanging DNA without a violent allergic reaction, without agglutination occurring..." "Fuck, no!" Kate outbursted, charging forward to express her dislike of where the conversation was leading." Kurt wrapped a hand around her shoulder and pressed lightly, sending her to the floor. "I am sorry fraulein, but you are doing it again-" Kurt chided. "Doing what?" she growled from the floor, cradling her injured shoulder. "Interrupting," he knelt on the floor with her, "you get so upset because you are too impatient to listen." Beast opened his mouth to say something but retracted the gesture upon Kate slapping Kurt in the face. "Are you stupid? He's talking about sex, you imbecile." She shouted point blank in his face. Beast threw up his hands to gesture he had given up. "Was?" Kurt questioned touching his face, a grin appearing under his hand, "Well, you are in luck, pretty lady, for the few whom have been so fortunate to feel my embrace have-" "-killed themselves." She finished, pulling herself up by the edge of the desk, "I'm don't want to touch you, never mind have sex with you. Incase you weren't aware, you're not human!" Kurt stood up after her, "Stöcke und Steine, Fraulein" She yelled out in frustration and yanked the door open, leaving the three in the room, and came face-to-chest with a tall broad shouldered man, in his late thirties, about to reach for the knob or knock someone out. "Move!" her voice echoed in the hall. “Who's the chick?” he asked, peering inside. Xavier didn't seem concerned, "let her go, Logan." The man stepped out of the way and watched with confusion in his eyes as she wandered her way to the front door. “What was that about?” he asked once she was out of ear-shot. “It seems Death is better with the ladies than I am." Kurt surrendered, exiting the room with a BAMF!While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
