I know this took a while but with the holidays and everything it was hard to find time to write. so here's chapter three with an original character i created just for this story.
Chapter Three: Beautiful Victim It was a dark night and the moon gave off less light than usual. Not many people were out, and those who were paid him no mind. It was a good thing too. He didn’t want anyone asking who he was and why he was carrying a battered, beaten and unconscious girl. He took the back stairs of his apartment building. His place was on the top floor and nearest to the stairwell. She became dead weight in his arms and he would be relieved when he would be able to put her down. He quickly set her down propping her in the sitting position against the wall near the door. He quickly unlocked the door. He squatted down to see that she was still unconscious. He picked her up gently and carried her inside. He took her into his bedroom and laid her gently on the bed. Her head was still bleeding a bit, so he ran into the bathroom and retrieved the first aid kit. He gently cleaned the wound and bandaged it, but he noticed that she was running a fever. He knew she needed medical attention, more than he could give her. He pulled out his phone and made a call. The phone rang several times, all the while making him more nervous. Finally someone answered. “Hello,” came a woman’s voice on the line. “Helaina,” Remy said, his voice sounding relieved. “Need y’ help.” “Sure, Remy, what is it?” “No time t’explain. Jus’ come on over t’my place, an’ bring your med bag.” “Be there in five,” she said and hung up the phone. Remy looked down at his beautiful victim and sat down next to her. She was still unconscious and very pale. He wondered if she would die right there in his bed. Not if he had anything to say about it. Then he wondered why he cared so much. She was after all an enemy, right? Something about her pulled at his heart, and he just knew he had to save her. He noticed her torn clothing with dirt and soot covering it. He took it upon himself to remove the garment. More injuries had shown on her arms and legs and a slight burn on her collar bone. Magneto had briefed him on all the X-Men and their powers, so he knew this was Rogue and what she could do. He wore gloves as he cleaned her wounds. She lay there unmoving. Maybe it was better that she was unconscious. The pain of her injuries may be too much for her to bear. Seeing that she was only in her bra and panties her skin must have been like ice. He felt the coldness of her skin through her gloves and covered her with his comforter. Suddenly he heard a knock at the door and swiftly walked over to the door to answer it. He was relieved to see it was Helaina. She was a black-haired woman with transparent eyes and the plest skin he had ever seen. She was an older woman in her mid-forties, the stern look about her which added to the already apparent lines on her face. She was thin and medium height of about five and half feet, but still somewhat intimidating. “Helaina, t’anks for comin’,” Remy said as he invited her in. “Don’t thank me yet,” she said, giving him a cross look. “So, LaBeau, what kind of mess have you gotten yourself into this time?” “I need y’help,” Remy said. “Don’t tell me… a girl,” she said. Remy remained silent as Helaina clutched her med bag. “Where is she?” “In de bedroom,” Remy said, taking the woman’s hand and leading the way. He opened the door seeing the girl was still lying lifeless in his bed. “She’s hurt bad, Remy’s fault.” Helaina rushed over to the girl just staring at her in shock. She looked back at Remy. “Do you know who this is?” “Yeah, she an X-Man. One called Rogue.” Helaina just rolled her eyes. “Remy, she’s Raven Darkholme’s daughter. Eric will want to know about this.” “Non, Helaina, you can’t tell ole buckethead. He know I saved an X-Man, he have my hide.” “Maybe,” Helaina said. “But…” “Keep quiet ‘bout dis,” Remy pleaded. Helaina stayed silent as she gave Rogue a once over. She reached out as if to touch her. Remy was about to warn her not to, but her hands only hovered over the girl. Rogue’s body began to glow, a yellow mist reflecting off her skin. Her body jerked a few times, than she lay still as the yellow mist dissolved. “What you do?” he asked. “I healed her,” she said, “but there’s a side effect.” “What’s that?” Remy asked, confused. “I deactivated her power,” Helaina said. Remy looked astounded not knowing she could do that. “Don’t worry. It’s only temporary. Once she gets her strength back, her powers will return.” “Anyt’ing I should do for her?” Remy asked. “Yes,” Helaina said. She pulled a bottle of clear liquid out of her bag. “Give her a teaspoon of this twice a day. It should stop the spread of infection.” Remy took the bottle and examined it. There was no label. “So what’s dis stuff anyway?” “Just a homemade remedy,’ Helaina said. She walked over to the door. “I must be going, now, but if she takes a turn give me a call.” “T’anks, Helaina,” Remy said as he walked out to the door to leave. Helaina quickly walked out into the stairwell but stopped hallway down. She set down her med bag and pulled out her phone. She dialed a number quickly. After two rings a man answered on the other end. “Eric,” she said. “It’s Helaina. We have a situation.” “What is it?” he asked. “Seems you have a lovesick Acolyte,” she said. “Can you guess who?” “What had he done this time?” Eric asked. “Seems he has an injured X-Man in his bed, one I know you’re very interested in.” Helaina waited but received no response. “It’s none other than Anna Marie Darkholme, better known as Rogue.” “How did he…?” “The battle at the warehouse, she was hurt, and he gave me a call pleading for my help. How could I say no?” “So, did you heal her?” he asked. “Yes, in a matter of speaking. Don’t worry, Eric. The girl won’t remember a thing. I made sure of that.” “And her powers?” “They’ll only return when her memory does. The elixir will ensure they won’t…not until she’s ready.” “Good work, Helaina,” Eric said. He paused for a moment. One more thing. Keep an eye on Gambit and his new houseguest.” Helaina ended the call and put her phone back in her bag. She fished out her glasses case and took a pair of dark tinted glasses and walked down the stairwell to the first floor. She entered her apartment and closed the door. Well, I hope you liked it. There more drama to come in the next chapter when Rogue wakes up and doesn't remember who she is.While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
