The next morning Loki wakes up and looks over to see Shelia fast asleep curled up on her side. He watches her sleep for several minutes before deciding to get up and bathe. He strips off his clothes as he makes his way to the bath, then fills the large tub with warm water and submerges himself. Loki sighs as the water relaxes his muscles. He had envisioned his homecoming to be completely different. He was used to being greeted by cheering crowds with Thor and the Warriors three when returning from an adventure, followed by feasting and revelry. He knew not to expect cheering crowds, but he had at least hoped to spend the night making love to Shelia, but even she didn't seem particularly pleased to see him. She seemed anxious and upset instead, much like she was before he left. With a sigh he sinks further into the water until only his neck and head are not submerged. A knock at the door jerks him out of his sulking. "Come!" he calls out slightly irritated at the interruption.
Shelia pokes her head through the door timidly, "is it okay if I come in?" she asks.
"Of course," he says in a rush, feeling foolish for the tone he used.
Shelia enters the room and sits on the steps at the side of the tub. Trailing a hand in the water she avoids eye contact with Loki until he speaks, "would you like to join me?"
Shelia blushes slightly and gives a small nod. He finds the blush extremely attractive on her and finds it hard to control his arousal as she stands, turns her back to him and pulls her nightgown over her head. Keeping her back to him she removes her under garments and then climbs into the water at the opposite end of the large tub. "Will you tell me what is troubling you?" he asks gently.
She looks down at her hands making slow patterns in the water, "I met with Dr. Banner while you were away."
Loki is immediately on edge hearing this, "what happened? Did you fall ill? Are you alright?"
"I'm fine. Just overdoing it a little. Dr. Banner says my increased healing factor has even been healing old wounds," she says and then pauses, afraid to continue.
"That's good news," Loki responds warily, knowing she has more to tell him. "Whatever it is you need to tell me, you can," he coaxes. "I promise, everything will be ok."
"Will it Loki? We still don't know what Odin is going to do with you. What will happen to me? What about the...." she stops short of finishing her sentence. She desperately wants to tell him, but is terrified, remembering what happened with Sean when he found out she was pregnant all those years ago.
"Is that what you're worried about? Odin's decision? Shelia I don't know what he is going to decide. Only he knows that, but I have done what I can to prove my willingness to change,” he tells her as he reaches for her across the water. She allows herself to be pulled into his gentle embrace. He cradles her body against his with her back pressed to his chest. "I will go before him and ask that you be allowed to stay here if that is what you wish. You will be safe and cared for even if I am put to death," he tells her quietly, hoping to ease her nerves.
"Oh Loki," she sobs pulling his arms around her chest.
"Shhhh...I promise, no harm will come to you."
"It's not me I'm worried about Loki," she says as she guides his hand down to the small swell of her belly. Having her this close has him distractedly aroused, but now his full attention snaps to the woman in front of him and the purposeful placement of their hands. He focuses his attention on her and he can sense it. Feeling his reaction Shelia tenses immediately and starts to pull away in a panic. Loki tightens his grip around her slightly to hold her in place as he runs his hand from her flat abs down to the tiny but unmistakable swell.
"A baby?" he breathes in wonder.
"I'm so sorry Loki. I didn't mean for this to happen."
"I thought it couldn't happen?" he asks.
"Dr. Banner said....."
"Old wounds are healing..." Loki interrupts her as he realizes what she had been trying to say.
"I'll go back to earth. I know you weren't expecting this and I don't need you to do anything, but I do want to have this baby," she says in a shaky voice.
"Earth? Why would you...?" he begins, "We will raise our child on Asgard Shelia." Then he adds quietly, "if that is what you want as well?"
"Our child?" she sniffles.
"Of course our child."
"So you're not angry? I was so scared you wouldn't want this, wouldn't want me," she confesses as she breaks down into tears.
"I am surprised, but that's not a bad thing," he says as he relaxes back into the water again and pulls her back against his chest. He cannot resist running his hand over her belly repeatedly, marveling in the knowledge that his child rests in her womb. This tender moment is interrupted by the sound of Shelia's stomach growling with hunger. Loki gives a small laugh and gently releases her, "I think we need to feed that child."
Loki cannot stop stealing little glances at her. He has always thought her beautiful, but now that he knows she is carrying his child he finds her almost irresistible. As they walk back into the bed room to dress she turns and see's the evidence of his desire. Seeing him in this state has an immediate effect on her. Now it is his turn to be embarrassed. He tries to tell his body that this reaction is unbecoming of a father to be, to no avail. When he feels her hand grip his straining erection he groans with surprise and relief.
"It's been so long," she whispers as she gently begins to stroke up and down his cock.
"Shelia... You have to stop..... I won't be able to...... Ahhhhhh..." he groans as he cums in her hand. He looks down at the floor mortified at the quickness of his ending.
Before he can say anything she tells him with a wicked smile on her lips, "now let's eat something while you recover and then you can properly show me how much you missed me."
Loki has food brought to the room and the pair sit down to eat. Shelia feels suddenly shy and uncertain with Loki. She had prepared herself for a bad reaction and since that didn't happen she is not sure how to react, but she knows she has to stop anticipating the worst. Loki is like no other man she has ever met. Yes he has done terrible things, but she knows he is not that monster at heart.
"Dr. Banner said he would come back to do a check up and we may be able to see if the baby is a boy or a girl by now," she says to break the silence.
"It's a girl," Loki says with certainty.
"What? How do you know that?"
"Because I think she told me. It's like a memory," he struggles to explain. "It must have been in a dream."
"Yes! A dream!" Shelia exclaims excitedly remembering her encounters with the dark haired, green eyed girl.
"She came to you too?" Loki asks.
"She came to me several times when Freyr first took you. Told me to keep faith in you."
Loki reaches across the small table and grasps Shelia's hand and gives her a huge grin. "Who else knows?" he asks as it occurs to him that he will need to make an announcement.
"Just Dr. Banner. I wanted to tell you before anyone else, since I didn't know how you would react."
"Well I'm glad you told me first. Now we have to figure out how to break the news to mother that she will be a grandmother," he laughs.
Hearing this Shelia grows serious, "what will happen? Will they accept a child that is not full Asgardian?"
"This child is Asgardian. Remember, you are no longer human. I will need to address this before Odin though and I should do it soon. I want to secure both of your futures here on Asgard right away," he announces standing from the table and turning to the closet to pull out more formal attire to meet with the king.
