Tony looked down again at the broken bundle in his arms. Loki had always been thin. But, now there was nothing more than flesh and bones. Leather twine bound his mouth shut. And there was just so much blood, some looked ages old, some looked new.
Tony started walking towards the new medical suite he had built in the tower. He figured it would come in handy for The Avengers. He had never guessed it would be used for one of his enemies. As Tony continued walking, Loki turned his face into his shoulder and gripped him with one hand, or as much of that hand he could use since two fingers hung lifeless. “Jarvis, who is currently here?” “Steve, Bruce, and Miss Potts, sir.” The AI responded. “Please have them meet me in the medical suite.” “Of course, sir.” Tony entered the suite and laid Loki down on the medical bed. He stood back and cringed. He didn’t know how Loki could be alive. God or not, he looked dead. He wanted to start working on Loki, but figured he should wait until everyone got there so they could see exactly the amount of damage that was done. He busied himself by loading up a medical cart with antiseptics, rubbing alcohol, needles, thread, sutures, towels, gauze and so forth. Bruce walked in first and walked up to the bed, “Who is…oh, no. No no no. Tony, just what the hell are you doing?” “Just wait until Steve and Pepper get here.” Tony answered. Bruce shook his head and rubbed his temples. Shortly after, Pepper and Steve walked in, chatting and laughing. They both stopped dead when they seen the bloody body. “Tony do you have a death wish?” Pepper shrieked. “I’m calling SHIELD.” Steve started to turn away to leave. “Hey, everyone. Listen up!” Tony shouted. They all turned towards him. “No one is telling SHIELD anything, especially you, Mr. Red White and Blue. I have to take care of him, look at him!” “How did you get him?” Pepper demanded. “His mother dropped him off on my balcony, she asked if I would take care of him and I agreed.” “Why?” Steve asked. “Why? Look at him! He isn’t a threat! If he ever becomes one or we think he could be a threat, we can toss his sorry ass over to SHIELD.” Tony threw his hands in the air. “Seriously, look at the beating he took! I think he might have learned his lesson!” Everyone frowned and pondered. Bruce was the first o speak up, “Everyone deserves a second chance. What do you need me to do?” “Thank you, Bruce. I can use any medical help for him that you can offer. I think you and I are his only hope since we can’t bring him to a hospital.” “You swear that you will turn him over to SHIELD if he becomes a threat?” Steve asked. “I swear I will, I have no desire to be taken for a fool.” Steve nodded. Pepper sighed, “I know that look, and I know there isn’t a damn thing I can do to stop you.” Tony smiles, “Thanks. I think Bruce and I can manage it from here.” Pepper and Steve left them to tend to Loki. “Where should we start?” Tony asked. “His mouth, if he comes to and still has his mouth sewn shut, he will think he is still being tortured.” Tony looked over the wounds on Loki’s mouth. The leather seemed to be healed into his flesh. Tony took a pair of medical scissors and clipped each one of the threads. Bruce handed Tony a pair of pliers. Tony took the pliers and gripped them onto the leather, putting a finger on each side to keep Loki’s lip from pulling up. With some force, Tony ripped the first leather band out. Tony continued time and time again until there was no leather left in Loki’s flesh. “Someone is going to have to shower him before we assess the rest of his wounds, I can‘t see anything will all the blood.” Bruce said. “By someone, you mean me?” “He is your stray you took in…” Tony rolled his eyes, “Fine, get me some liquid antibacterial soap.” Tony walked over to the large walk in shower and turned the water to a nice warm temperature and stripped down to his boxers. Tony picked Loki up and brought him under the warm spray of water. Tony gently worked the soap through Loki’s matted hair. He could feel bumps and gashes on his scalp. Tony tilted Loki’s face towards him so he could wash it. Loki’s eyes fluttered open. Confusion set across his face as he slowly lifted his hand up to his mouth, he felt his wounds, but no leather tying his lips together. Loki looked his eyes up to the man holding him, more confusion set in as he realized Tony Stark was holding him to his chest washing him. It had to be another hallucination. But, he didn’t care, he was going to enjoy this one. He was in the arms of someone bathing him under warm running water, not being tossed and abused like he had grown so accustomed to. The hand reached up and worked small circles over his face, washing the blood, dirt and sweat away. Loki sighed and nuzzled his face into Tony’s neck. He wrapped his weak arms around Tony’s waist. Tony continued to wash the god that was clinging to him. Tony finally finished washing him and sat him on a bench as he patted him dry. He swept Loki up once again and laid him back on the medical bed. Loki’s eye glazed over as he drifted back to sleep. “Was he awake in there, Tony?” Bruce asked. “I don’t think he really was. His eyes were open for a little while.” Tony answered as he got dressed. “Well, lets get this party started.” Bruce sighed. They cleansed Loki’s wounds and stitched up multiple gaping cuts and gashes. They set his broken bones as best as possible. Finally wrapping up areas of him that needed support. As Tony was wrapping a sheet around Loki, Loki’s eyes flew open. Loki tried to say something, but it came out as a scratchy wheeze. Tony propped Loki up, “Hold on, Reindeer Games. I’ll get you some water.” Loki watched Tony leave and was left alone with Bruce, who was the ultimate reason he was defeated. Tony returned shortly with a cup of ice water and a straw. Tony offered the drink to Loki. Loki frowned but accepted the offering. He took greedy frantic pulls on the water. “Whoa, there, you don’t want to get yourself sick.” Tony said. Loki sighed and licked his lips. He eyed Tony and Bruce, waiting for them to do or say something. Loki chuckled, “So I guess my torture continues.” “What?” Tony asked. “I was handed over to you to pay further for my sins, was I not?” “No, I don’t think so. Your mother brought you to me to care for you.” Tony replied. “How long has it been since you last ate or drank?” Bruce spoke up. Loki laughed, “When was I here last?” “Just over a year ago.” Bruce answered. “Then it has been just over a year ago since I have had food or drink.” “That can’t be.” Bruce nearly stuttered. “Its true. Our kind is a lot tougher than I look right now. Your “Other Guy” cracked me back and forth on the ground like a bull whip and I survived. Even though I was defeated, I am a god.” Tony fished his fingers into the cup and pulled out an ice cube, which Loki eyed longingly. “Before I give you this, answer me a question. Are you going to try any funny business? Like, oh lets say take over Earth?” “No.” “If you do, we will hand you over to SHIELD.” Bruce warned. Loki nodded his head and accepted the ice. He spent the next hour watching Tony and Bruce fix the mess they had made of the medical suite. “So chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla?” Tony asked. “What?” Loki replied. “I’ll get you a nice protein shake made with ice cream.” A small smile upturned on Loki’s cracked lips, “Strawberry.” “Ooooh, that is extra villainous.” Tony winked, “Jarvis, send one extra large high protein strawberry shake made with ice cream.” “Yes, sir.” The AI replied. “Tony, who will watch him tonight?” Bruce asked. “I am going to take him to my room and set him up there. I think there are to many variables of people that come and go around here that would wish him harm.” Bruce nodded, “What about your safety?” Tony rolled his eyes, “That’s what I got you for, right Jarvis?” “Yes, sir, I will monitor your safety like I always do.” the AI replied. Bruce nodded again, “Yeah, that seems like the best plan for all parties involved at this point.” “Alright, big guy.” Tony clapped Bruce on the shoulder, “Thanks for all your help, I can take it from here. You look like you need a nap.” Bruce yawned, “Yeah I guess so, good luck.” Then he walked away. Shortly after Tony’s cook appeared with the requested shake. “You think you can keep this down, Reindeer Games?” “I can try.” “That’s the spirit!” Tony offered the shake to Loki. Loki’s hands trembled as he tried to hold the cup. “Hey you want me to hold it?” Loki gave a sheepish nod. “No prob.” Tony leaned his elbows on the bed as he held the cup for Loki. The first sip was a complete mixture of pain and pleasure. It was painful to taste the strong flavors, but his mouth was salivating from being starved so long. He didn’t really care and pressed through the pain. Tony grinned as he watched the trickster enjoy his shake. The faces he made were priceless. About half way through, Loki stopped and sighed. “I think that’s all I can handle.” “Sounds good, ready to go to bed?” Loki nodded, he was exhausted, even if the extent of his day was just drinking half a shake. Tony picked up Loki, noticing the flush the spread through his face. “Hey, sometimes you just need a little help from a friend.” Tony winked. Tony made his way to his bedroom and settled Loki into his bed. He took a pillow and blanket and threw it on the ground for himself. Loki frowned, “You are giving up your bed for me?” “Yeah, it’ll be fun. It’ll be like a sleep over where we braid each other’s hair and play truth or dare.” “Ah, thanks…” “No problem.” Tony laid on the ground and pressed his face into his pillow. *** Tony woke up. It was still dark out. He frowned and tried to figure out what he was hearing. He stood up and watched Loki. Loki was shuddering, shaking and gasping for air. Tony rolled Loki on his back. Loki was sobbing mutely, big tears dripped off his cheeks. He was clearly having some sort of panic attack. Tony dropped to his knees and ran a hand over Loki’s cheek. “Loki, shhhh, its ok, you’re here with me. Nothing bad will happen. Do you understand me?” Tony asked as he ran his fingers through his hair. Loki seemed to come back down and looked into Tony’s eyes and nodded. As Tony was about to turn away Loki’s hand wrapped around his wrist. “Do you need anything?” Loki just looked at Tony for a long while, before tears welled in his eyes and continued to roll down his cheeks. Before Tony knew what he was doing he was laid out next to Loki, Loki’s face pressed into his collarbone. He pulled him to his chest and stroked his back. Loki’s arms were around him. Again, Tony was left having no idea what to do. He had thought he was supposed to nurse Loki back to health, but he realized now that there were mental scars he couldn’t just put a band aid on. Loki was able to put on a brave face on when he had to. But, when he was alone, the façade fell off, leaving a broken man with many unhealed, gapping wounds. Loki had molded his body perfectly against his. Tony couldn’t really sing, so he hummed a soft melody to Loki as he continued to rub light circles on his back. When Loki went lax against him, he finally closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
