Disclaimer: Really guys, if I owned X-Men, I wouldn't be writing this :P It'd be a graphic novel. Silly. As it stands, I may no money off of this writing and do not seek to. |
Rhaimy and Ian were closest to Satyr. She sniffed the air, her back spines growing and rustling menacingly, her horns becoming a set of three, curling back over her head. As she regarded them, listening and feeling for their vibrations with a hand against the ground, armored plates raising like a dogs hackles. Her long tail flicked as she considered them, long serrated blade glinting wickedly in the light.
Professor Khafra Xanatos, or Puzzle as he was known, stepped in front of Ian, giving him a gentle shove back, while Elise did the same with Rhaimy. The tall man was bronze skinned, dark eyes narrowed through a slim set of rimless glasses, dark brown hair combed into a neat middle parting. His hands and neck, all the skin that could be seen with his casual collared blue shirt and dark pants, began to shimmer with multicoloured light. Not taking his eyes from Satyr, who had begun to watch him very closely, he spoke to Ian in a deep voice. Satyr clearly heard him, since she tilted her head at his words, considering. "Ian, go and get Professor Xavier. Be quick" Ian nodded and gave a bone crunching lurch, all his joints changing and his clothes shredding as the black barbs came out of his back and heels and elbows, black claws sprouting from his fingers and toes. He nodded, turning his blind eyes to Professor Xanatos and then Rhaimy and Elise, and towards Satyr. While he couldn't see, he always looked in the direction he was feeling, and the vibrations Satyr was putting out felt like a low, ominous growl. Turning, he dashed off on all fours, Elise taking off her coat to expose her arms. "You to Rhaimy, get inside. No arguments" She placed her hand on her arm, which hummed and flickered with light. Satyr turned her faceless helmet towards the sounds of Ian's departure, hunching as if considering giving chase, but Elise and Puzzle tensed, the Professor barking at her. "Stand down Minerva! Whatever's wrong, we don't want to hurt you... just calm down" Minerva Ceti may have been beastly in appearance, but she was never unreasonable or violent. The creature that stood before them did not act as or resemble Professor Ceti, but an overpowered, sick parody of her beastial form, Satyr. Puzzle knew he was talking to an animal then, not the woman he worked with. As Satyr sprinted towards them, Elise struck her arm several times, tossing darts of crackling light, streaking and pinging off of her armor harmlessly. Puzzle stepped forward and stuck his open hand out, a swirling miasma of colour striking the ground. The soil seemed to tear itself into tiny black bits, flying from the ground like a swarm of insects and forming a wall, solidifying as metal. Satyr's tail speared through, tearing a gash down like it was tissue paper, one clawed hand coming through the grip the sheared metal and tear it open, stepping through the hole. Elise rubbed her hands together, the light between her fingers intensifying, side arming the ball of crackling light, slamming into Satyr's mask as she clambered through. The detonation was enough to make her stagger on her unsure footing, tail quickly lashing out to grab the top of the wall, steadying herself and pulling back through, growling menacingly. Hunching and leaping high, she brought her claws down at Puzzle, who jumped back and blast the ground, the matter swarming out from under Satyr as she landed, falling into a deep pit. He used all those flying soil particles to seal the top with a thick pane of metal. Satyr screamed her bobcat like screech, tail tearing through the metal easily, but the gashes became black and swarmed, repairing themselves as fast as Satyr could tear through. "Hold her a moment!" Called another voice, Professor Liara "Arachnid" sprinting down the yard with Professor Shian "Turbine". Liara was a short woman, white hair kept back by a red cap, sporting her usual active attire of a short sleeved white shirt and baggy knee length jeans. Her back and limbs were plated with a shiny black material, like an insects carapace, legs and arms thicker then they should have been. Professor Shian was a sickly looking Asian man in a blue turtleneck and long dark pants, with narrowed dark eyes, creased at the edges, dark hair cut short and kept flat, face scarred near the chin. His arms began to vibrate powerfully as he took up a position next to Puzzle. Liara's limbs doubled in length suddenly, splitting down the center to become eight long, black armored spiders legs, the carapace shiny and hard. She skittered past them and jumped to the other side of the pit, crouching low and jabbing at the edge of it with her two front limbs, weaving a thick web. Ducking and swerving to avoiding the bladed tail as it sought her out, she managed to cover the entire plate with silk, skittering backwards to watch. The thuds could still be heard, but Satyr's tail couldn't pierce the silk. "Think that will hold her?" Puzzle muttered, not taking his eyes from the now silent pit. The grim and serious looking Professor Shian pursed his sun marked lips. "This is Satyr we're talking about... just stay ready. Students! Get back please. Into the mansion. Yes Elise, you to!" He glared at her, and for a second she looked like she'd submit with the rest of the students, shoulders relaxing slightly. But then, there was a thunderous crashing, as Satyr came spearing from the ground next to the pit, spinning and striking her tail out, cleaving Arachnid's two right arms off and sending her staggering backwards. Landing in a crouch, Satyr ran and slammed her shoulder into Arachnids chest while she was off balance, sending her flying backwards. Quickly grabbing her two left legs, she yanked her back, whiplashing her into the ground hard, knocking the wind from her lungs and breaking several of her carapace joints. Striding over her, ready to bring her claws down for the final blow, Turbine threw one arm out, punching the air and sending a cone of force to slam into her, the tunnel vibrating powerfully, shaking her armored plates and rattling the ground loudly. It was enough to throw her back, waving her arms and rolling. Tossed and buffeted by the vibrating cone of force, she shoved her tail into the ground and dug her heels in, gripping the soil with her hands, leaving five long trenches as she slowly slid back. Snarling, her armor began to rearrange itself, folding back so she was sleeker, walking forward laboriously through the force, plating rattling loudly. Soon, she was striding, and then sprinting, cutting through the air like a knife, rearing her arm back and swinging at Turbine. He jumped to his left, the claws shredding his clothes but barely missing him. Following up, she backhanded him, sending him cartwheeling into Puzzle and crashing into a heap. Rising up and looking around, Satyr turned to survey the students that were left, plates rustling, agitated. She needed to fight, she needed to kill... the anger, the rage, it consumed her, burning in her stomach. Oh how it burned. When she brought her solid, featureless plate to regard Elise, she froze and went white, her light tan becoming chalk. Stepping back, Satyr smirked under the mask. If her prey would run, then she could chase. Striding towards her, she felt and heard Elise back step, her tail swishing, back spikes standing up menacingly. Howling, she dropped to all fours in mid sprint, diving at her. Elise yelped and fell back on her behind, Satyr soaring over her and twisting in mid air to land facing her, already striking out again with her tail, which came down like a scorpion. Elise rolled just out of the way, scrambling to her feet. When Satyr leaped at her again, Elise back flipped out of the way, crossing her arms as she did so and striking them as she landed, forming a ball of shuddering hardlight in each fist. Swinging with her right, the crackling punch soured past as Satyr weaved to the side, pulling back as a left came under her chin, missing her again. Elise pulled both arms back and crouched, slamming both of her palms into Satyr's chest. The detonation was loud and bright, a wave of hot air sweeping across the grass, the metal beast sent flying backwards, hitting the ground and bouncing, twisting in mid air to land in a crouch, snarling at her. She wasn't even dented, or phased for that matter. Elise had only managed to make her mad. "Elise, get back!" Roared Puzzle, pulling himself to his feet, winded. "She's too powerful, you can't hurt her!" Panting, she eyed Satyr, who now stood upright, tall and menacingly, flexing her claws and tails. Elise had locked up, but Puzzle's call brought her senses back, looking between him and Satyr. Even if she did run, she was built like a metallic cougar. She couldn't get away in time. Desperate, she clapped her hands together and began to rub them furiously, forming an intense light, pulsing and snapping as it grew. Satyr tilted her head, scales raising as if she were considering her, striding forward slowly. Panting from the effort, her skin burning from the friction, entire body feeling the drain, she finally held a large ball of violently thrumming light, blindingly bright. "Don't make me do this Professor Ceti..." She mumbled, holding the energy at her side. Satyr tilted her head, the words stirring a memory, but she tossed her head, snarling, as if the sudden remembrance were a fly on her ear. Roaring, she came for Elise, who hurled the ball at her. It whistled as it soared, and just before it hit her, Elise pulled her hand back and clenched, then twisted her fist, breaking the ball. It shattered into a fine, sparkling mist of gold, settling around Satyr, coating her, even under her plates. Elise snapped her fingers, a the powdered hardlight detonated. A series of loud bangs went off, violently bright and sending waves of heated air across the yard, vaporizing the grass and scorching the dirt. The shockwaves sent Elise flying back, the continued bursts making her stumble as she tried to get up, rolling along. It was like someone had dumped a truck load of lit fireworks on Satyr. When finally the hardlight had all burnt away, Elise was laying on her back, skin burning and irritated, feeling like her arms were too heavy to lift. Looking to the sky, she tried to catch her breath, and then, what little air she had in her lungs was held, as the smoking but undamaged Satyr stood over her, blocking her light. "Professor Ceti!" called a familiar voice, slightly high from a combination of panic, fear and exhausting. Standing before Satyr, shaking with barely contained terror, was Rhaimy, holding a red flag in both hands. Now that he had gotten her attention, he felt like he could speak or move, but he managed to mumble a few words. "L-look Teach... I got the flag..." Satyr tilted her head, Elise forgotten for the moment. Flag? The memory came slowly, as if through a haze. Flag... she had wanted that flag, didn't she? No, that wasn't right. It didn't matter, she needed to kill! She needed to hunt! No, the flag, the flag was important! But why? Why couldn't she remember. "Remember Teach? You sent us into the forest to find it, and we got it. Its over now... please remember Miss Ceti" She snarled, the rush of memories confusing her, shaking her head, armor rustling. What was happening to her... why couldn't she think?! Rhaimy got the flag Minerva, so the class is over. You can relax now Professor Xavier had rolled up next to Rhaimy, and his familiar sight seemed enough to calm her, if only slightly, focusing on him. Yes, she knew him... she trusted him. But why? Who was he? Nothing made sense! Its alright now Minerva. Relax. Please. Yes, that sounded good... she wanted so much to sleep, to let the pain stop. Her stomach burned as if someone had filled it with hot embers, and the rage was starting to subdue. She was submitting willingly, gratefully, to Xavier's mental control, letting him lull her to sleep. As she lowered herself to her side, her armor began to recede, melting into her skin. All of it went, even the plating that had permanently kept her modest, her back and limbs and pelvis melting away until only her bare skin was left, not a hint of her metallic crust remaining. Even with her beastly appearance, she looked like a completely different entity like this. Her stomach was black and purple, skin toughened, as if it had been burnt and healed over and over again. Puzzle took Elise's coat and draped it over Satyr, Rhaimy and Ian helping Elise to her feet and supporting her weight. "Is Miss Ceti going to be alright?" She panted, still reeling from the overload, Professor Xavier watching the unconscious form under the coat, brow creasing with concern. "We'll do what we can, but something is very wrong with her... I suggest you get Miss Conwick to the medical bay. I imagine it's about to be a bit crowded"While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
