Disclaimer: Much to my depression, I do not own Marvel, X-Men, or the delicious Nightcrawler... Only Lacy and her dysfunctional self. Also, no money is made from this by anyone, since it is not for profit. |
So, I wanted to get this chapter out sooner, but it's pretty big, in more ways than one. It's long- long! lol- and it has a great deal of the plot in it that I had to wait and make sure that the plot was all in line. That's right, plot. It's been hidden in the background this whole time, but it is there, you might even have to go back and reread to see how well it was hidden! lol. Anyway, I'm glad to get this out, Also, only two chapters left til the end! I hope you all enjoy this part of the story.
The sun pooled on the floor and across the wall of Lacy’s apartment, shining brightly and rousing Kurt with it’s warmth. He blinked and looked down at Lacy where she was cuddled on him.
His hand stroked down her shoulder and back as his eyes stroked down her face. “Lacy,” he whispered, but she didn’t move. He tilted his head down and kissed her forehead, then a few more times, soft kisses that still didn’t make her stir. Kurt turned, rolling her over and kissing the side of her face.
Lacy blinked and looked up at him as she woke up.
“Good morning,” he whispered in her ear as he kissed her again.
“Mmm,” she hummed back, her hand going up to the back of his head and running through his hair.
Kurt smiled as he kissed her neck. “I zhink zhis is becoming vone of my favorite zhings,” he told her, kissing down her chest over her shirt.
“Now? So long after the first time?” She asked sleepily.
“It hasn’t been zhat long,” he told her, nuzzling her breast while his hand drifted down the back of her thigh. “Only yesterday morning…”
Lacy moaned sleepily as her body reacted to his touch. “Only yesterday morning?” She repeated in question.
He hummed an affirmative around the cloth covered nipple in his mouth as his tail pulled her shirt up, then Lacy gasped as his tongue ran over her bared nipple. “Waking up to you in my arms and zhen making you scream my name,” he told her against her breast.
“Oh,” she sighed.
Kurt’s tail wrapped around her calf and pulled it over his hip, pressing his groin against hers while his hand pulled her against him. His tongue traced around the puckered bud of her nipple, making her cry out and arch to him.
Lacy moaned and pulled his head closer, tangling her fingers in his hair.
Kurt leaned lower to kiss her ribs and nipped a tender spot, making her cry out and grip his hair tightly again. He groaned and pulled her hip, pressing harder against her warmth.
Something buzzed against her and she was startled, looking down at him. “Did you get some sort of enhancement I don’t know about?” She teased.
Kurt rested his forehead against her and sighed. He rolled enough to reach into his pocket and pulled out a device. “Ja?” Lacy watched his face, more awake after his actions had made her blood flow. “Ja? Vell, ja… No-” He moved farther away from her. “It’s not like zhat- Ja, of course… Fine. I’ll be zhere, don’t vorry,” he told the person stiffly and hung up. Lacy looked up at him in question as he sat up and sighed. “I have to go, zhey’re sending us on a mission,” he told her.
“Oh,” she answered. “I thought it was more than that with the part of the conversation I heard…”
“Just Scott being a pain,” he answered. He suddenly brightened and looked back to her. “Vhy don’t you come vizh me?”
“On the mission?” She asked.
“No,” he laughed. “To zhe mansion.” He laid next to her and stroked her cheek. “It vould be nice to know zhat you’re vaiting for me,” he told her.
Lacy smiled at him. “You really are getting into this-” she paused, skipping the word that would make her seize up, “- whole thing, aren’t you?”
“Zhis whole, vhat?” Kurt asked with a smile, pushing her to say it.
She didn’t answer, but leaned up to kiss him. “Sorry, I don’t think so. I would feel weird just being there waiting for you… Besides, I have work to do. But,” she said to stop his face from falling. “I’ll wait here for you.”
Kurt smiled, his thumb tracing her bottom lip. “Alright, I suppose it vill do. For now,” he told her, kissing her before climbing from the bed and pulling a shirt on.
Kurt closed the door to his bedroom behind him, sighing.
He peeled his uniform from his body and tossed it on his bed before going into the bathroom and getting into the shower.
He braced himself against the wall with his forearms as the hot water ran down his back. It was nice to be in his own shower instead of Lacy’s smaller one, even though she wasn’t there with him.
A small smirk lifted the corner of his lips as he thought of when she had been there with him. “M- make love to me…” Her nervous words echoed in his mind. She had felt so good in his arms, pressed against the wall. He wanted her in here again, warmed by the water on his back and her heat on his front, listening to her moans as she tried to keep quiet. But, her shower did have it’s good points, too, he decided, thinking of the day before. She had been louder, and the cool feeling of the wall on his back contrasted nicely with the warmth of her body holding tightly to him.
After washing and soaking in the warm water for a while, he got out and dried off, wrapping a towel around his waist as he stepped toward the door.
When he opened it, he saw Alissa standing at the foot of his bed.
“Hi, Kurt. I’m glad that you’re back,” she told him, letting her dress fall to the floor, nothing but a golden thong blocking her body from view. “And alone.”
Kurt halted in the doorway. “Vhat- Alissa, vhat zhe hell are you doing?” He demanded.
“I’ve been waiting for you,” she told him, running a hand over herself.
Kurt shook his head and pushed past her to his closet. He pulled a pair of jeans on under his towel before turning around. “Please leave, Alissa,” he told her.
She sat on the edge of the bed and spread her knees. “Kurt, I’ve been so lonely here without you,” she said with a sultry tone in her voice.
“Ja, sure,” he said disbelievingly, grabbing a shirt out of the closet and pulling it on as he stepped closer to her.
“Haven’t you been lonely without me?” She pouted.
“No, I have found someone zhat I love, and who loves me,” he told her, taking her by the arm and gently but firmly pulling her to the door, his tail holding her dress out to her as he opened it and pushed her out. “I haven’t even zhought of you.” He closed the door and locked it before going back to gather his things to leave.
When he got to Lacy’s apartment, he ducked into the alley and made his way quickly up the building, opening the window and climbing in.
The bedside light was still on, and a book laid on the bed near her, showing that she had tried to stay up for him.
He smiled as he looked down at her cutely sleeping form, turning off the light and putting the book on the nightstand.
Alissa had been going about it in completely the wrong way. His tastes had changed; like any man, he’d wanted the model perfect girl, but now, he only wanted Lacy. All Alissa would have had to do to get him is somehow become Lacy.
He ran his fingers down her cheek and leaned down to kiss her.
He doubted that Alissa could ever be that sincere.
He sat on the bed next to Lacy and took off his shirt, unable to look away from her. He smiled and dropped the shirt on the ground, his hands instead reaching for her shoulders and pulling her onto her back. She moaned sleepily as she rolled, her hands splaying around her.
Kurt smiled, laying next to her and running his hand down her cheek, letting it continue along her side. He kissed her jaw, making his way to her lips. “Lacy,” he whispered, running his hand down her cheek again.
She blinked as she woke up. “Kurt?” She smiled at seeing him, her hand going to his chest.
“Lacy,” he answered, leaning forward to kiss her again.
Her fingers slid over his arm, tightening on his bicep, and he felt his heart beating faster. Her hand touching his bare skin was making his blood catch on fire.
He pulled her against him, kissing her deeply, his tongue stroking against hers as his hand slipped under her shirt to lightly move over her side. Lacy arched as his fingers squeezed a tender spot on her ribs, her lips slipping from his as she moaned against him.
Kurt’s lips moved to her throat, kissing and licking, gently sucking as his fingers rolled her nipple between them.
She moaned again and her fingers tightened in his hair as she sighed his name.
His hands didn’t stop stroking her as he pulled her shirt from her. “Lacy, Sie fühlen sich so weich,” he told her, pulling her closer to nuzzle against her breasts, and she felt her cheeks heat, arching as he sucked a nipple into his mouth. {you feel so soft}
Kurt could feel her breath speeding up as his hands groped her body, stroking her and squeezing the sensitive spots. He could feel how much his body was reacting to her; stiff, wanting her badly, as though he hadn’t had her in months, instead of just yesterday.
He tugged at her breast with his lips, pulling until her nipple popped free. “Lacy,” he sighed as his lips brushed against her collarbone as he moved to the other side.
Lacy’s fingers tightened in his hair as she moaned to him.
Kurt sucked on her other nipple, twisting the first between his fingers as his tail wrapped around her thigh. He tweaked and rolled her nipple while his tongue flicked back and forth across the other one, and Lacy could feel shivers running through her stomach.
“Kurt,” she moaned, her hands clenching as they drifted from him, one pressing against her face as he gently nibbled on her nipple. The tingles radiating from his mouth made wetness pool between her thighs.
Kurt looked up at her, the way she was gasping and squirming under him made him groan, and he felt himself twitch against her.
He leaned back, pushing her shoulder so she rolled onto her side.
She looked back at him in confusion, but gasped as he bit behind her shoulder. He kissed across her back, licking and nipping at her as she cried out.
His tail snuck up to rub against where her panties covered her sensitive lips as his fingers continued to stroke her and torment her tenderized nipples.
Lacy arched and Kurt pressed against her, feeling the heat rising between them as his hand slid down her side to her hip. His tail wrapped around her shorts, tugging as his hand moved in a circle around her hip. His fingers dragged down her, pressing into her bared and sensitive flesh, down over her butt and around her thigh, up to the crease leading to her soft heat. His fingers dug into the crease where her hip was bent, pulling her harder to him and pressing against her as he bit the scar behind her shoulder.
Lacy groaned, her hand clutching at the sheets around her. “Kurt,” she panted as his bare chest moved across her back while he ground against her, making sparks and heat flow across her skin.
“Ja?” He asked, licking her scar before sucking on it.
“Kurt, please,” she moaned.
“Bitte was?” He asked as he placed repeated, gentle, sucking kisses on her scar. {please what?}
“Oh, Kurt please,” she moaned to him, gasping and arching against him.
Kurt pulled back and let her roll to her back. The look she gave him made his cock throb in response.
He kissed her, his tongue invading her mouth and dancing with hers as he ran his hands down her. He pulled back and kissed down her stomach, licking every so often and letting his warm breath blow across the wet spots.
Lacy tried not to squirm too much, but as he reached her hip and kissed it, her hips flinched, trying to get closer to him, but too sensitive for much contact after his actions earlier. He looked up at her as his tongue trailed along her hip and down her thigh. “Eröffnen, Lacy,” he told her. “Ich möchte kommen.” {open up, Lacy, I want to come in}
Lacy took a shaky breath and let her knees fall apart.
Kurt smiled and kissed up the inside of her thigh, his fingers drifting up the other.
“Kurt,” she breathed.
“Lacy,” he answered. “Mmm… Ich bin hungrig,” he told her, nuzzling against her heat. {I'm hungry}
She let out a high pitched moan and Kurt licked up the outside of her lips, making her let out a gasped, “Ohhhh…”
Kurt’s tongue snuck between them and moved up, then down. He looked back up at her, and he could tell she wasn’t satisfied. His fingers stroked up and down her slit a few times, teasing her until she whined and her hips arched against him. “Lacy, willst du es?” He asked. {Do you want it}
“Y-yes,” she moaned.
“Was willst du?” He asked. {what do you want}
She moaned and her hips shifted, wanting to get closer to his hot breath. “I want you to do it,” she told him, and he had to hold back his groan.
“Was soll Ich tun?” He asked, letting a hot breath across her. {What do you want me to do}
“I- I don’t know… Whatever it is that you do down there,” she moaned in frustration.
Kurt smiled. “Du hast mich angeschaut,” he reminded her. “Was ist es Sie, dass ich für Sie tun?” {You've watched me, What is it that I do for you}
Lacy looked down at him. “What do you want to do,” she asked breathlessly.
Kurt smiled and kissed her thigh, licking and sucking until she moaned. “Ich möchte, dass du meinen Namen schreien,” he told her, his fingers pulling her open and licking her. His tongue moved up and down, pushing against her opening before drifting up to circle her clit. {I want to make you scream my name}
Lacy’s eyes pressed closed as her hips arched.
Kurt’s tongue circled her clit again, then lazily moved up and down it. Lacy moaned as Kurt continued his movements, his ears drinking her delicious sounds. He licked and gently sucked, making her arch and cry out as she neared orgasm. Kurt gave one last slow, lingering lick then pulled back.
Lacy’s eyes opened and widened as she looked up at him. “Kurt,” she complained gently, watching him discard his pants.
He leaned close and pushed into her, making her gasp in delight. He slowly thrust in and out, leaning forward to kiss her.
His hands stroked over her face and shoulders, kissing her tenderly. His tongue danced with hers, tangling and tasting as he again slowly brought her near to the edge and stopped.
She looked up at him, hanging on the edge of bliss as he moved back down to her hot center.
He glanced up at her with a smile as his tongue flicked out to taste her.
Kurt’s tongue skillfully flicked and licked, bringing her closer and closer, circling, back and forth, up and down, sneaking down to her opening before dragging up and sucking her clit between his lips.
Lacy’s head turned to the side, crying out as her body arched up to him.
He groaned in response, and the vibrations made her arch and cry out again. Kurt leaned back, watching her pant and squirm slightly. He ran his finger up and down along her wetness, rubbing over her clit and pressing against her opening until she was on the edge again.
He leaned up again and pushed into her, taking her face in his hands and gently kissing her.
Lacy sighed, feeling waves of tingles from his hands stroking over her.
Kurt kissed her again, not letting her mouth get away from his as he made slow love to her.
When he felt her get close enough again, he pulled away, leaving her mouth to go to her hips. His tongue continued it’s actions where it had left off, bringing her to the edge again before pausing, letting her cool down for a moment before starting to lick again.
“Kurt,” Lacy moaned, her hips moving up to get closer to him.
“Ja, Lacy?” He asked before going back to licking.
“Kurt- oh, why are you teasing me?” She asked, her body shifting, arching up to him.
“Denn ich liebe die Art und Weise Sie sehen so aus. Schön. Weich. Und weil ich ... Sie wissen, was als nächstes kommt,” he told her. {Because I love the way you look like this. Nice. Soft. And because I- You know what comes next}
Lacy’s eyes went down to him, watching with desire as he licked. He looked up at her, his eyes mirroring her desire. Her head tilted back as she arched again, getting to the edge.
Kurt again moved up to slide into her. “Du bist so nass,” he murmured to her. “Sie müssen es so schlecht wollen…” {You're so wet, you must want it so badly}
“Yes,” she sighed as he filled her.
Kurt groaned and kissed her throat, sucking and licking as her pulse raced under his tongue.
“Kurt,” she moaned, her hands pulling him closer, her fingers digging into his back.
“Lacy,” he moaned back, pulling at her body as he filled it. His groans matched her sighs as they got closer, their bodies moving together.
Lacy arched and let out a high pitched moan, and Kurt knew she was close.
He pulled back and kissed down her body, making it to her thighs, licking and sucking the tender areas again.
Lacy groaned and shifted in frustration. “Kurt,” she complained. “Please!”
Kurt moved up and kissed her, his tongue tangling and dancing with hers again before he went back to her thighs. He pushed her apart and began licking.
Lacy panted, arching and moaning as his tongue drifted over and around her clit. Her hands clenched in the sheets, hips lifting as his tongue slowly moved up her clit. His fingers pinched her nipples, his thumbs rubbing them in circles as his tongue ghosted over her clit, just touching it and making tingles radiate through her.
Lacy could feel the heat pulsing through her, making her cheeks turn crimson with need. She kept her hips still, almost afraid to move as Kurt’s tongue moved over her clit with torturous slowness. Her breath was held in her chest, but she groaned in frustration, nearly sobbing as he sooooo slooowly licked up her clit, pushing her closer.
Suddenly, he pulled her clit into his mouth, licking it as he gently sucked, his fingers tweaking her tender nipples mercilessly.
Lacy screamed his name, her whole body arching as she came in his mouth.
Kurt groaned, holding her hips to him as he licked and sucked for a second before pulling back and thrusting into her desperately. He pumped into her quickly, hitting her inner walls and making her cry out in pleasure.
“Kurt-” She panted. “Kurt- I- I lo- lo- ah- ahh- Ah! Ahhhhhh!” She screamed as she came again.
Kurt ran his fingers through her hair as he realized she was trying to tell him that she loved him. “Ich weiß,” he told her as he kissed her, holding her close as he slowed down and going back to his slow love making of earlier. {I know}
“Kurt,” Lacy moaned against his lips.
He sucked her bottom lip into his mouth and gently bit it. He pulled her against him, kneeling up and pulling her with him. She wrapped her arms around his neck, holding on as Kurt shifted, putting his legs in front of him to cradle her and leaned her back. Her legs tightened around him as he thrust forward into her, still kissing and stroking her.
It was slow and gentle, building into a powerful orgasm with turtle like speed.
Finally, he was close and brought her closer to him, bouncing her with him as he thrust.
“Lacy,” he pulled back from her lips to gasp.
“Kurt,” she moaned back, her lips going to his shoulder. He nipped at her pulse, making her gasp and moan as he sucked at her throat. “O- oh…” She moaned to him. He looked up and kissed her again, her arms tightening around him as she neared the finish.
“Lacy, Sie fühlen sich so gut…” He mumbled against her. He felt her tighten around him as she panted. {you feel so good}
“Kurt,” she gasped and cried out.
“Ja,” Kurt moaned in agreement, kissing her neck and thrusting. “Ich kann nicht aufhören,” he panted. {I can't stop}
“D-don’t, don’t stop,” she moaned.
Kurt tightened his hands on her, feeling himself hang on the balance. “Ah, Lacy!" He called out to her, coming and filling her with his juices.
He held her against him for a little bit, kissing and sharing breath with her, enjoying the closeness.
Lacy moaned and sighed in pleasure as she lay back, worn out.
Kurt kissed her collar just above her breast lovingly, panting for breath after the workout. He smiled and kissed her, holding her close. “You still feel so gut,” he whispered. “Maybe I vill have to vake you up again in a vhile.”
Lacy smiled, closing her eyes. “Oh, I forgot to ask how your mission went,” she said.
“It vas ok,” he told her. “Not exciting.”
“What did you do?” She asked.
“I told you zhere is a machine zhat can track vhen mutants use zheir powers,” he paused as she nodded sleepily. “Ve vere looking for it, but… Ve didn’t find it.”
“Too bad,” she answered.
“Ja, zhe Professor zhinks ve vould do besser if ve found zhe plans, zhat vay ve vould at least be able to rule some places out,” he told her. “But, ve have no idea vhere to find zhose; it’s not like ve could do an internet search.”
“Mmm,” she hummed. “He probably wouldn’t keep something that valuable at home.”
Kurt nodded hopelessly in agreement.
“You should check the safe in his office…” she mumbled as she started to drift off.
Kurt stiffened in surprise. “He has a safe in his office?”
“Mm-hmm…”
“How do you know zhat zhere is vone?”
“Photographic… memory,” she mumbled as she lost the battle with sleep.
“Oh, ja…” Kurt agreed, looking down at her in wonder. She may have cracked the case.
Kurt climbed the stairs, hauling Lacy up with him to the third floor of the mansion.
They got to a door and Kurt knocked quickly before opening it. “Professor,” he greeted, then nodded to the other man in the room. “Scott.”
Lacy tilted her head, recognizing the man in the sunglasses from before.
The Professor seemed to have some words trapped in his chest, hesitant to let them out in front of the new company. “You must be Kurt’s girlfriend,” he greeted kindly.
For some reason, Lacy felt that a curtsy was the way to go and dipped down. “Professor,” she said uncertainly.
“Professor, I know vhere to look for zhe plans, or, razher, Lacy knows vhere to look,” Kurt said with a smile on his face.
Scott’s brows drew together. “She does, huh,” he questioned darkly.
Kurt spared him a glare at the insinuation, but turned back to Lacy. “Tell zhem vhat you told me last night,” he prompted.
“Oh, ah- that you should look in the safe in the Senator’s office. The plans for the thing might be there,” she told them a little awkwardly.
“See? Just a qvuick, easy in and out,” Kurt said.
The Professor’s eyebrows raised and the constipated look left his face. “The safe in his office?”
“Yes,” she answered. “In the wall, next to the closet.”
Scott straightened a little. “But, even if we know where this safe is, how will we open it?” He asked.
“I know the code,” she answered simply.
“What is it?” The Professor asked.
“I’m- I’m not sure I should tell you,” she said, feeling her cheeks heat at all of the attention she was getting.
Kurt turned to her. “It’s ok, he’s a good man, you can trust him,” he told her.
“How do you know there’s a safe? We’ve looked all over that office and never seen one,” Scott said accusingly.
“I went on a tour of the offices in the building in fifth grade,” she told him. “We happened to walk in at an inopportune time, so the tour guide “showed us something cool” to distract us,” she told him.
“And you expect us to believe that the senator would just tell some ten year old the code?” He demanded. “And that you’d remember it?”
Kurt stepped forward to defend her, but the Professor looked interested to hear the answer as well.
The memory played in Lacy’s mind.
“And this is the senator’s office,” the guide said, opening the door. The senator was having an argument with another adult to the right, at the end of the room, by the couches set up near the floor to ceiling windows. The guide pulled them to the other side of the room from the door, past the desk to where a flag stood next to another door. “Ah, do you want to see something cool?” He asked. “Look, you’d never guess that there’s a safe here, would you?” He opened a panel and showed a safe. “What’s the combination?” One of the smart-alecky kids asked. The man the senator had been talking to left, and the Senator turned to the group. “It’s tradition that it’s changed on the first day in office, to the date of inauguration,” he said, distracted.
Lacy smiled. “Well, they probably didn’t expect anyone to remember it, but then, I’m sure that they didn’t expect anyone with a photographic memory to be in the crowd, either,” she told them.
Scott’s eyebrow raised. “Photographic memory? You expect us to believe that?”
She shrugged. “Most people don’t.”
Scott turned to the Professor. “Can’t you read her mind to tell if she’s lying?”
“You know that I can’t, Scott,” he told the man.
“But, in the Danger room-” he started, but the Professor interrupted him.
“Lacy,” he paused as though to ask, and she nodded. “Say we believed you about the safe and code. What do you gain by telling us?”
Lacy looked confused and glanced at Kurt. “I- nothing, I guess, but- Kurt would be able to teleport again,” she hesitated as the two looked at her. “He talks about it,” she glanced back at Kurt again nervously. “He misses it, I think…”
Scott turned slightly. “Then how would we get inside?”
Lacy squinted in confusion. “How did you get in the first time?”
Kurt shuffled and cleared his throat a little. “I observed from outside, mostly. Then I teleported and...”
“Oh,” Lacy nodded in understanding. “Right, before you knew you couldn’t.”
“Actually...” Kurt blushed as he trailed off.
“We’ll have to send you in again,” the Professor said. “As soon as we find a way in.”
“Well, you could go in through the air vents. There’s one that goes from outside right to his office,” she told them.
“And how do you know that?” The Professor asked.
“It’s public record, and I did a report on it, later, after the tour. They said to do it on something that we hadn’t seen there. I’m sure that they wanted us to say something about politics, since it was for state history slash government studies,” she told him. “I took it literally, I guess. Other kids did things like ghosts, because of the rumors that they used to hang people there… They started after some kids had seen The Sixth Sense,” she explained.
“Well, then. I guess we have our answer,” the Professor said, sitting back.
Scott looked shocked. “Are you serious? You’re going to believe her?”
“Lacy, would you tell us the code for the safe?” He asked.
She was silent, looking at Kurt for a moment. “I want to go in, too.”
They all looked at her in surprise.
“What?” She asked. She had thought about, then entertained the thought of going on a mission with Kurt for a while yesterday after the misunderstanding.
“I’m sorry, that’s impossible,” the Professor shook his head.
“I thought it was a quick and easy in and out?” She asked.
Scott shook his head. “There’s no way-”
“No,” Kurt insisted, turning to her.
She looked at him in surprise. “Why?”
“Lacy, you can’t go-”
“You’re a civilian-”
“I can’t let you go in zhere-”
“Why?” She asked again.
Kurt took her shoulders in his hands. “Lacy- vhen I vent- vhen I teleported in- zhey found me, because of zhe machine, it alerted zhem- I had to run- for my life…”
“Ok,” Lacy shook her head to show she wasn’t following.
Kurt glanced at the other two nervously, clearing his throat a little. “I- ah-heh… Lacy, zhat’s zhe night I first met you…”
Lacy’s eyes widened in realization as the memory of their first meeting came back to her and she mentally did the calculation of how far her apartment was from the senator’s offices.
“I can’t put you in danger like zhat,” he told her. “I vant to keep you safe…”
Lacy blushed and turned her head. “But- hearing that… I want to keep you safe, too, Kurt…”
“It would be better if we send in Kitty and Kurt,” Scott said.
“Why Kitty?” Lacy asked Kurt.
“She can go zhrough valls,” Kurt told her quietly getting a glare from Scott.
“And set off the alarm,” she said back. “No way, I can go in and open the safe without setting off the alarm because I don’t have any powers. Look, I want to help. I can either go alone, or with backup from you guys. I can dress in my work clothes, I’d fit right in, they’d think I work there,” she told them.
“Lacy, no,” Kurt told her again. “No.” He held her against his chest.
“Kurt, I can do it-” she protested, trying to push him away.
“Lacy, shh. I love you.” He felt low inducing a panic attack to quiet her arguing, but she wasn’t listening to reason, and it worked.
Lacy stiffened against him and gasped. “Low… blow,” she told him between gasps as her hands tightened on him and she struggled to regain control.
“I’m sorry,” he murmured, stroking her hair.
Scott stared at them in confusion, and the Professor looked on in interest.
Lacy seemed to regain her breath and pushed Kurt away. “You can’t stop me from saying it, Kurt,” she told him. “I’m your map; your way in. If I don’t go you’ll be wandering around in the dark. Besides, like you said; it’ll just be an easy, quick, in and out.”
“And you’re going to stand firm on this?” The Professor asked.
Lacy turned to him with a determined look in her eyes. “Yes.”
Lacy adjusted her skirt as she and Kurt walked down the road to the Senator’s office building.
“Bitte, reconsider,” he asked. “I vill go in, just tell me vhere zhe safe is and I vill get es.”
“No, Kurt,” she told him as they got to the fence.
“I’m going in. I’m going to look for a digital file, too.” She turned and kissed him. “Don’t worry so much,” she said, giving him a smile.
“I have to try,” Kurt sighed.
He turned to her and smiled before turning back to the fence and jumping, catching the top bar of the fence above his head and pulling himself up before doing a vertical push up and springing off onto the ground. He smiled at her from the other side and she quietly chuckled, ducking and stepping between the bars of the fence.
“Show off,” she told him as she squeezed through.
“I’m trying to impress a girl,” he told her with a smile.
Lacy raised a brow. “Should I be jealous?” She teased.
Kurt shrugged flippantly as they walked.
They carefully crossed the lawn and made it up to the building until they stood beneath the windows to the Senator’s office, looking up at the wall.
Lacy led him along the wall for a few feet before pointing up. “There’s our way in,” she whispered.
Kurt turned off his Image inducer so he could hide better in the shadows, and took Lacy’s foot as she offered it to him. He lifted her, glad that she’d taken off her pumps before standing on his hands. She reached into her bra and pulled out a pocket knife, opening it and cutting the paint from around the screws on the vent before closing the knife and pulling the screwdriver out.
After a few minutes she got the screws out and stepped down, letting Kurt crawl up the side of the building to pull the cover from the wall. She handed up her screwdriver and he took off the vent cover, handing it down to her followed by the vent screen.
He jumped, landing next to her and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close. “Kurt-”
“Shh,” he whispered into her hair. “I just want to hold you for a moment. Promise me zhat you vill be careful in zhere…”
“Promise,” she told him. “Just remember, Kurt; I can take care of myself.”
He grumbled against her shoulder.
“You promise me,” she told him. “Promise that you won’t go rushing and putting yourself into danger for me. Don't come to rescue me unless I ask for help. ” Kurt’s arms tightened around her, but he was silent. “Promise,” she demanded.
“Li- Lacy… All I can zhink of vhen you say zhat is zhat pervert pushing you against zhe vall vhile I hid under a desk…”
“Kurt, I’m ok. I got out of the situation, by myself. I’ll be ok,” she insisted.
“Ok,” he agreed grudgingly.
“Ok what?”
Kurt sighed. “Ok; I promise.”
“Good, now let’s get up in there, it’s almost time for him to be leaving,” she told him.
“Here ve go,” he told her, taking her foot in his hand and pushing her up the wall. Lacy climbed in first so that Kurt could hold her up, then he climbed in himself, his tail bringing up the rear with the vent cover, closing it after them. Lacy closed her eyes for a moment, bringing the memory of the blueprint up in her mind. She pulled her skirt up around her hips so it didn’t get caught, then started forward, easily sliding on her pantyhose covered legs. “Vell,” Kurt said, and she could swear she heard a smirk. “I can’t say I hate zhe view. It is a big improvement on following Scott or Logan around.”
Lacy blushed. “Kurt, shh,” she whispered. “We have to be quiet so no one hears us through the ceiling or vents.”
“You just get embarrassed vhen I say how sexy you are,” Kurt whispered.
They got to an intersection and Lacy turned right, Kurt following her. They got to the end and Lacy looked out through the vent. It was on the same side as the door into the hall, about even with the couches that Lacy saw they hadn’t moved since the last time she’d been there. They’d replaced them, but put them in the exact same places. She looked to the right to see that the curtains were still open, but the lighter inside ones were closed. She looked left and saw the Senator finishing a few things on the desk.
Finally, he stood and gathered his jacket and briefcase from the closet before turning to the door. He paused to turn the computer monitor off and then the lights as he opened the door and left.
Lacy could hear the lock turn and told Kurt, “he’s gone. Let’s wait for a minute before we go in, just to make sure.”
“Ja,” Kurt agreed. After it felt like enough time had passed, Lacy pulled out the pocket knife again, opening the knife and putting it between the vent and the wall, wiggling it to loosen it. When she got the bottom loose, she tried to work on the top, but found that it was hinged. “Even better,” she whispered. “We won’t have to worry about dropping it and making noise.” She ushered him back to the crossroads and turned so she was going to the vent feet first. She backed up until her feet hit the grate and, with Kurt's help, pushed them against it until it opened.
She felt the grate lay against the backs of her legs as she backed out, sliding along her until she got to her hips. They were a little wide with her skirt bunched up, and she had to wiggle and try to push against the wall with her knees for a minute before her skirt pushed to her waist and she slid out, her feet reaching down to find the top of an armchair.
She let out a relieved breath and Kurt raised a brow to her. “The chair is right where I remember it being,” she smiled before grabbing her shoes, tossing them onto the chair and sliding the rest of the way out. Her foot slipped due to the slick pantyhose not gripping the leather, and the vent cover smacked against the wall as it closed, followed by a thunk.
The two froze, waiting with baited breath to see if anyone rushed in to attack them.
No one came, so Lacy stepped down, waiting for Kurt to join her. “Are you coming?” She asked.
“I can’t get zhe vent opened,” he told her, pushing against it.
Her eyebrows met in confusion as she stepped back up onto the chair. She tried to open it, but couldn’t get her fingers under the edge. “Damn thing,” she muttered, reaching to her bra for her knife, but realized that she’d left it in the vent when she couldn’t find it. “Kurt, try to get the knife under it,” she told him.
“Ja,” he answered and she could hear him trying to get it open. “I can’t, it’s really stuck. Lacy,” he told her, and she heard worry fill his voice. “How are you going to get out? Ve have to go, now.”
“It’s ok,” she told him, pressing against the vent so he could see her. “I’m dressed like I work here. I’ll get the documents, and throw them out the window, you go back out the way we came and get them, and I’ll walk out.”
Kurt was silent and Lacy touched her forehead against the grate.
“Kurt, I can take care of myself, right?”
He sighed. “Ja, ok. But I’ll vait for you,” he told her.
“Ok.” She stepped down from the chair, fixed her skirt and put her feet into her pumps before walking across the room, not tripping despite the darkness. She slipped into the chair and turned on the monitor, running a search and checking through the computer for any copies of the plans.
The search returned nothing, and she was about to close it down, but instead, she paused as she heard a noise on the other side of the door.
She recognized the sound of keys in the lock and turned off the monitor before slipping from the chair under the desk and pulling the chair after her.
The light turned on overhead and she felt her body stiffen, hoping that her heartbeat couldn’t be heard, as loud as it was in her head.
The footsteps came around the desk and paused. She looked out and saw a pair of legs in suit pants next to the desk.
The chair pulled out and she closed her eyes and held her breath as the man sat down. She dared to glance up, and her eyes widened when she saw a gun attached to the underside of the desk. It looked like a modified .45, but she couldn't be sure what the modifications were.
"I knew it," the man muttered, making the chair roll back swiftly as he stood. "Where are you?" He demanded.
Lacy held her breath as she heard him walk around the desk. She flinched as he threw the closet door open then closed, but made no sound.
Suddenly, she was grabbed and yanked out from under the desk.
"Hiding close, huh? You filthy mutant!" He yelled at her.
Lacy gasped and looked at him as he shook her. His hair was still perfectly slicked, not even moving as his head jerked at her. His eyes widened and he quickly grabbed his tie with one hand. Lacy took her chance and smacked his other hand, turning and heading for the door.
The Senator grabbed her, pulling her back to him, but she kicked, hitting his shin and making him let go.
She almost made it to the door, but he grabbed her arm and pulled, spinning so she was thrown against the desk.
Lacy's breath left in an "oomph" and she looked up, just in time to see to Senator get his tie off and grab her arm. He quickly wrapped it around her wrist, grabbing her other one and binding them together as she kicked and struggled.
He yanked on the tie, making her fall to her knees, then pushed her up and toward the closet, keeping her off balance so she couldn't get away before he pushed her to her knees again and tied her to the knob. "I knew you mutants were stupid enough to try again," he told her with a sense of superiority.
Lacy laughed at him. "You're the one who's stupid," she told him. "I'm not a mutant."
He looked down at her. "And I'm not the Senator," he said rudely.
She tilted her head. "Then what are you doing in his office, looking like him?"
"What are you doing in my office?" He shot back.
Lacy looked up to the other side of his desk where the computer monitor stood, showing her fruitless search. "I think you know the answer to that already."
"And you insist that you're not a mutant?"
"Check my DNA," she snarked.
He glowered at her, a thoughtful look crossing his face. "Then why are you looking for the machine?"
Lacy shrugged as best she could with her arms tied above her. "Something to do on a Friday night," she answered. The Senator smacked her across the face, and she tensed, worried that Kurt would come. "Ha!" She said loudly, making sure Kurt would hear. "You hit like a pussy!"
He smacked her again, demanding, "where is your partner?"
She was silent, and he smacked her again. Lacy’s face was down, her eyes closed. “I don’t have a partner. I came alone.” Her smacked her again, knocking her into the door headfirst. “Wow. You must feel so strong; having to tie up a woman to hit her,” she told him. “Even abusive spouses don’t have to tie the woman up.”
The Senator growled and hit her again, then again.
She looked up at him defiantly. “You think this is anything? I grew up always being the new kid, the smallest kid, the one that was picked on. I can take a hit. And you hit like a sissy.”
The Senator hit her so hard that she was knocked against the door again. “Where is your partner?” He yelled at her.
“I don’t have one,” she told him. “There is no one else here, only me!”
Kurt tilted his head, trying to see what was going on. He angled his head a little and saw Lacy kneeling on the ground beside a flag, her hands above her and connected to a doorknob. His stomach twisted in knots at the sight of the Senator standing over her.
“Where is your partner?” He demanded again.
Kurt growled, wanting to teleport to the other side of the vent to punch the Senator in the face. But he didn't want to set off the alarm and call back up for the Senator, they still didn't have the plans.
“I don’t have a partner, I came here alone. It’s just me! Promise,” she said, her eyes seeming to look right at Kurt.
He twisted, trying to remain silent in the duct as his brow creased. He understood; she was reminding him that he’d promised he wouldn’t rush in.
Kurt knew that she was trying to protect him, not wanting him to come out and be in danger, but he didn’t want her to be in danger either. He was weighing the options, deciding what the chances were that back up would come fast enough to stop them from getting the plans.
Lacy could feel her lip swelling, and she looked up at the Senator as he grabbed her shirt and pulled her closer.
“If you’re not here with a mutant partner, then what are you doing here?” He asked. “And don’t lie to me.”
“I told you,” she answered. “I’m an interested party all on my own.”
The Senator’s hands moved to her throat. “You stupid slut, I bet you sleep with them! That’s it, isn’t it? That’s what turns you on? Do they pass you around? Share you like a common item? Or do they do you all at the same time?”
Lacy made a choking noise and Kurt felt panic rising in him, but it turned to confusion as the Senator let go of her throat and reached back to smack her again, and the choking turned out to be laughter.
“You strangle like a four year old girl,” she told him.
He slapped her and pulled the tie from the doorknob, yanking her to standing. “None of this frightens you?” He demanded.
“As I said; I grew up in the foster system, always being the new kid. The punching bag. And you hit like a sissy!” She yelled in his face.
“Since I’m not a mutant, maybe this will frighten you,” he said, turning around and pushing her to the desk. The edge hit her thighs and she fell onto it. He pushed her back with his hand on her sternum, holding her down and grabbing the crotch of her pantyhose, ripping them as his hand pulled and twisted.
Lacy pulled and turned, her knee catching him in the side. His hand left her just long enough to free her hands to reach above her. She’d seen an award, something like a heavy based statue near the monitor, and her hands reached, her fingers feeling for it, a little lost due to not having any reference point.
The Senator leaned close over her as he reached under the desk, pulling the gun from under it. He pointed it at her, aiming at her head. “Does this scare you?” He asked nastily, and her eyes widened. “It’s my own special blend. I’ve been working on it for a long time, tested it out a lot.”
Lacy was still, unsure of what he was going to do.
Kurt was arguing with himself, wanting to go out, not wanting to set off the alarm, wanting to save Lacy, knowing she didn’t want him to rush out…
He peeked out through the vent again and saw Lacy on the desk with the senator on her, and couldn’t stand it. She insisted she could take a few hits, and after spending time with her, he knew she could, but this was too far.
He teleported, landing in the middle of the office and staring daggers at the Senator.
A beeping noise went off from the wall behind the desk and Lacy’s head shot to it, her brow furrowing as she saw that it didn’t look the same as when she had been there before, but her head jerked back to the rest of the room as the Senator stood straight and turned to Kurt.
“I knew it! I knew there was a mutant here! Filthy, disgusting monster!” He yelled, pointing the gun at Kurt.
Lacy felt her chest tighten, almost to the point that she couldn’t breath. There was a bang, like she was too close to a large firework, and the Senator’s arm jumped back from the kick, while Kurt’s shoulder was pushed away, forcing him to stagger.
“Kurt!” Lacy cried out. She reached for the statue and swung it at the back of the Senator’s head, kicking him in the side when he was knocked forward from the blow, making him fall to the ground. Lacy ran to Kurt, pulling and twisting her hands free from the tie around them. “Kurt, it’s ok,” she said, putting an arm around his waist. She saw a splash of weird color mixing with blood under his hand as he grimaced. “We’re getting out of here, just a second, let me grab the-” She turned and stopped as she saw the Senator pulling himself from the ground.
Kurt grabbed her from behind and things went dark for the space of two blinks while she felt like she was stuck in a whirlpool.
Lacy fell to her knees, pulled by Kurt’s weight and dizziness, and saw the lawn of the offices under them.
She looked back to the office and back to Kurt, not taking time to try and understand before she put her arm under his and stood, pulling him up. “Come on,” she said, half dragging him towards the fence.
He tried to follow her, but got more and more lethargic as they ran. They made it, and Lacy had to almost stuff him through the gap. She slipped through after him and took him, having to support him more and more.
He was getting too heavy. She started drifting and stumbled against a parked car. She looked around, panic and flight flooding her system.
There was no way that she would get him to safety in time if he kept getting weaker. She tried the door to the car, but it was locked.
She managed to stumble the few more feet to the next car and tried the door. It opened and she tried to help Kurt in, but he mostly fell onto the seat.
Lacy checked for the keys, but didn’t find any. She ran her hands through her hair, feeling time running out. “Kurt,” she gently said, trying to get his attention. “Kurt, do you have my knife?”
Kurt’s hand moved toward the waist of his suit and she saw a bump. She took it and opened the screwdriver, jamming it into the driving column, twisting it and pulling on it until she got it off. She took the wires and pulled them to her.
She remembered watching one of her foster dads installing a new stereo in his car.
“The red wire is the power.” “How do you know?” She asked. “The red wire is always the power,” he answered.
She cut all of the wires, touching the red one to each in turn until the engine started. She twisted them together and climbed the rest of the way in, closing the door and putting the car in gear as she stomped on the gas.
She pulled up her memory of the area, thank God she’d stared at all of those bus maps to find the right one, thinking of the fastest route to the mansion. She made it to a street that she knew and it clicked. She turned and followed it, glancing over at where Kurt was slouching against the door. “Kurt,” she slapped his arm. “Kurt! Stay with me. It’s going to be ok.”
She looked back to the road. “I’m turning South, the next road is a right… I know I haven’t driven in a long time, not really a need to in the city, but when I lived with my last family, we were out a ways, I had to drive to school, so it’s not like I’ve never driven… Kurt,” she babbled for a moment before she glanced back to him. “Kurt! Come on, we’re going to be there in a few minutes, it’s going to be ok!”
Kurt shifted, turning so his bleary eyes could look at her. “Lacy… Liebling… Ich liebe dich…”
Lacy felt her chest tighten and she turned to look at his face. “Kurt…”
Her eyes turned back to the road. If he died, she’d never hear him say that again…
Her heart beat faster.
She’d never get to look up at his face as he made love to her, she’d never get to hear his sexy voice, see his beautiful body, try to tell him how she felt…
Tears tried to pool in her eyes and blind her, but she wiped them.
“Ich liebe dich…” He told her again, his tail reaching out to her.
“I- I- Me too, Kurt. Me too,” she told him, her hand gripping his tail. She saw the driveway in the distance, and she tugged his tail. “We’re here, Kurt, you’re ok…” She pulled the car to a stop by the doors and Logan rushed out, pulling the door open. “He’s been shot,” she told him, climbing out of the car and going around to meet him.
Logan scooped Kurt up and she followed his hurried pace through the mansion to the elevator and below the building.
It was bigger than a basement, even for a building this large. Lacy felt like she was in an entirely different building, maybe a hospital or somewhere they did scientific testing.
Logan kicked open a door and laid Kurt on a table as a larger, furry blue man rushed over to him. He took a smell of the wound.
Kurt was barely responsive, and Lacy felt her insides twisting into a knot. “Kurt,” she murmured, tears threatening to spill over. She stood silently, watching as more people came into the room.
“It’s the same stuff we’ve been seeing,” the furry man said sadly to a redhead that had pulled on a white coat.
“The poison like stuff that dehydrates you?” She asked, and he nodded hopelessly.
“We haven’t been able to stop it.”
“Wait, dehydrates you? And it acts like a poison?” Lacy asked.
The two turned to her. “Yes…” The redhead answered.
“I- I know what to do!” Lacy closed her eyes, thinking back to the doctor’s reports. She started running her hands through her hair, pulling it a little. “It was injected,” she mumbled. “Not swallowed…” It was like seeing flashes of papers, so fast that she was getting dizzy. “Banana bags- I mean nutrient bags- two- three- no, four at a time-” She decided as her mind got to the most recent documents that had worked. “And four bags of saline, too, they won’t go fast enough otherwise, and-” she looked up, nearly falling over as she look up too fast. “Do you have a dialysis machine? Please tell me you have one- he needs to start right away!”
“We do,” the furry man said quietly.
“How do you know all this?” Scott demanded.
“There’s no time- really! He needs it now!” She insisted.
“How do you know?” Scott demanded again, standing in front of her.
“I work at the hospital- transcribing all of the patient notes and courses of treatment- that’s the only one that’s worked so far! Photographic memory, remember?” She demanded, looking at him as Kitty walked up next to her.
Kitty glared at Scott for a moment before looking at Lacy and noticing the run going down her leg, originating from under her skirt. “Are you ok?” She asked, putting her hand on Lacy’s arm.
Lacy turned to her, following her gaze down herself over her disheveled clothes and torn pantyhose. “I-I’m fine, it’s Kurt-” She told her, panic edging her voice as she felt time slipping away.
A machine was pulled out from a storage room and attached to Kurt, along with a line and an IV stand with multiple bags being hooked onto it.
Kitty pulled her into a hug.
Scott had gone farther away from her, grumbling to himself. “This is why- I knew we shouldn’t have let her go- Kurt’s in critical condition, I bet they didn’t even get the plans.”
Lacy’s eyes went to Scott and she felt guilt growing in her stomach. He was right; this was all her fault…
Kitty let her go to go over to Kurt.
Lacy couldn’t help but stare at Kurt as he lay on the gurney, looking helpless. Tears finally overflowed, falling down her cheeks.
Lacy nearly collapsed, slowly stepping back, away from the mess in the room.
If this didn't work, if she hadn't gotten him there fast enough...
She’d never get to hear his voice again, never again hear him say he loved her…
She reached out into the box of gloves sitting on a table and took some. She sniffed quietly as she made it to the door, taking one last, long look at Kurt before turning and going back the way she had followed Logan. ‘I can’t let it be for nothing…’
She gasped as she wiped her face, walking down the hallway. She made it to the elevator and waited, trying to clean her face up a bit.
She heard someone stop next to her and glanced up to see Logan. “Had to leave the room,” he commented, anger hiding in his voice. “Couldn’t stand to see the man who loves you laying there,” he asked stiffly.
She looked to him. “I have some unfinished business,” she mumbled as she looked away, taking a breath as she gathered her strength. The tremble in her voice told him that his anger was wrongly placed. She looked up as the door to the elevator opened. “Besides, I have a car to return,” she told him with a firm voice, her head held high as she stepped into the elevator.
Logan followed her silently, folding his arms as the doors closed.
“Where are you going?” She asked.
“Elf would kill me if I let you go alone,” he answered as the elevator started to rise.
