Chapter 13
Rise of the Storm
Future
Beautifully lined towers rose into the sky lined with lights each one more colorful then the last. A few mutants flew about some just as colorful as the lights. On the street below humans and mutants played together. Adults walked by chatting with each other. Hope, Erik and Charles appeared next to a statue.
"This is amazing." Hope smiled at Charles's words.
"Yes it appears so doesn't it." Hope's words gave Charles chills down his spine. "Look its us." Charles pointed to the statue. There Erik and Charles stood shaking hands. Charles read the inscription.
"The defining moment in mutant and human history when the Mutants choose to no longer attack humans but other Mutants." Charles stood and turned around to look at Erik. "What does this mean."
"Look." Hope pointed behind them, Erik and Charles turned around to see a coliseum. They sped toward it as if they were in a car. When the vision cleared they saw billions of people in the stands. Inside the center were statues, Hope brought them to the side of the Coliseum that stood above the rest. Here stood four people, Rogue, Wolfsbane, Magma and Pixie. Each of them wore beautiful dresses. Magma stepped forward and the people cheered she raised her hands for quiet. Once there was quiet she spoke.
"My people we Welcome you to the Coliseum where Mutants battle for freedom, love or just for fun." The cheering rose up all around the coliseum. Wolfsbane stepped forward and the cheering subsided.
"We all know how this started but for those that do not I will tell the story! The Founding Fathers of our society," Wolfsbane pointed to the statues of Erik and Charles. "Decided that the best way for us all to coexist was to fight our battles in the Coliseum. That humans could choose amongst our champions those mutants that were imprisoned and looking for freedom." Pixie's wings fluttered and she flew forward standing next to Wolfsbane to continued the story.
"Every year the crime rate lowers and the numbers in the Coliseum grow. Even now Mutants who are not prisoners are finding honor and glory in the ring!" A round of cheers rose up around the stands. Once they quieted she continued. "And every year our numbers of hero's grow." Pixie pointed to the statues inside the ring. Currently there were eight statues. Finally Rogue stepped forward past the others and sat on the edge.
"Every year we thank the founding fathers for saving us and we mourn those that are gone." It was then that Rogue stood and turned to face the statue that lay behind them. "Our ruler chose us to run the coliseum so we thank her." The four women bowed to the statue of Hope. Everyone in the coliseum bowed. Wolfsbane turned and faced the crowd.
"Let the Battles begin!" The cheer started up and the doors around the coliseum opened. Erik and Charles watched as Pixie walked over to Rogue.
"How much longer do we have to remain before they are allowed to be free?" Pixie pulled Rogue over to her seat and sat her in the chair. A smile covered both of their faces but it was clear the conversation was anything but happy.
"However long they decide." Rogue shook her head. "You know that this is really the only reason mutants are even allowed to walk around."
"So our so called freedom is really just a big lie." Pixie placed a finger over Rogue’s lips.
"Shh." Pixie looked around. "If someone hears you." Rogue laughed.
"You know this is the only safe place to talk. I was there at that meeting between Magneto and Charles. I know the truth of what happened." Pixie nodded. "That they agreed to create this place so that if the Mutants hurt the Humans they would be brought here. The government, the humans agreed, or so they thought. Once this place was built they rounded up all the mutants they could. Keeping the X-men out because they were the face of the public." Rogue smiled and waved. "You three are here by choice, me I want my family." Pixie placed a hand on her shoulder.
"None of us are here by choice hun." Rogue looked up at Pixie.
"We all have families." Rogue turned away.
"You do it to protect your family but you get to see them." Rogue stood and walked to the edge. "The only time I get to see my love is here." Everyone watched as a man holding a staff stepped into the ring followed by a few others. Rogue nodded and they began. "He is the executioner a roll that they will not release him from." Pixie looked down at the man who Rogue claimed to love.
"The reason that they did that was because they fear your power now that you control it." Rogue nodded at Magma's words she knew this was true. Wolfsbane watched her face with a happy grin but her words were anything but.
"Rogue yes among us you have it hard but be glad that you are not Storm or Wolverine. Magneto or the professor be glad your alive. Glad that your role is here instead of there." Hope moved her arm and the three of them rushed into the ring where Remy fought other mutants and killed them.
"No this isn't what I wanted." Hope nodded at Charles's words.
"Yes I know but this is the most likely path. No you did not want them to kill each other but it was a stipulation that the Humans put in place." Again Hope waved her hand and they stood in a dungeon before them in chains was Logan, next to him was Sabertooth.
"We have to get out of here pup." Sabertooth spoke gruffly. Logan grunted. "You really want to be put in the ring."
"They never put me in the ring." Logan spoke harshly and Sabertooth leaned back.
"Why not?" Logan knew that Sabertooth would cause trouble.
"If I cause any trouble Storm will only hurt more."
"Hurt more?" Sabertooth’s question made Logan sigh.
"Listen." Hope waved her arm and the scene changed again. To show Storm hanging from the wall in chains a dress hanging in scraps around her. The vision looked frozen.
"Why her?" Charles stepped closer.
"Because after the three of us she is the strongest." Erik stepped forward at Hope's words.
"After the three of us?" Erik questioned.
"Oh yes. In this version all three of us are dead." As Hope spoke she tilted her head.
"But your the ruler." Hope shook her head sadly.
"Only in face and name. Those that know this are kept quiet." Hope pointed to Storm. A man walked through the door rolling up his sleeves.
"So where are the rest of them?" Storm raised her head to show both healing and new bruises. Charles stepped back in shock.
"Even if I knew I would never tell you." The smack resounded through the room as Storm's head snapped to the side. Her laughter echoed in the room a harsh cruel sound. "You think beating me all the time will do anything? I have been trapped here for years whatever knowledge I had is useless now." The man smiled grabbing her chin and viciously turning it to face him. He wiped away the trail of blood that slipped from her mouth.
"You are right," He leaned closer to her ear and whispered. "You could stop all this if you just agreed to be mine." Storm struggled against his hold.
"So you can use me to destroy Mutants everywhere." The man laughed and turned to the guards.
"Leave us!" The guards left and after they did the man turned back to her. "What if I told you that I was a mutant." Storm laughed. "That my father was a man who moved metal." The laughter died in Storm's throat. "That he never truly abandoned his work, he just appeared to. That secretly he trained others to infiltrate the human organization so that when the time comes Mutants could truly take over." Storm struggled against her chains.
"Then why have you tortured me so?"
"I had to be sure that you would not betray us." Storm spat at him.
"Betray you. The only reason they hold me is because they fear my power." The man nodded.
"I could release you if you choose to stand beside me." Storm raised her eyebrow.
"What of the other X-men." Storm’s question made the man laugh.
"You mean Logan." Storm looked away and the man picked up a staff. "I know that you wield the power of lightning but I doubt you are immune to electricity." The end of the staff sizzled. "If you agree to marry me and forget Logan you can be free and we will destroy humans."
"I will never marry you, Pietro." He shocked her and her screams echoed through the halls.
"Even if it means your freedom and Logan's life?" Pietro stepped closer and as he did Storm's eyes turned white.
"Threaten him again." Pietro shocked her with the staff and she closed her eyes but didn't scream.
"You wouldn't dare." Pietro taunted her.
"Threaten him again and see what I dare." There was an edge to her voice that hadn’t been there before.
"What about the innocent?" Pietro stood unconcerned that she would follow through.
"If he dies then as far as I am concerned there are no innocent." Ororo’s words were cold, Pietro laughed and turned to the door.
"Guards bring me Wolverine!" Storm struggled again. "That’s right you haven't seen him in a couple of years right? I mean I bet you didn't even know he was here. Oh but he knows your here." A smile stretched across his face. "Because if he harms one guard we take it out on you." There was some thudding behind the door and then it was thrown open.
"He was a bit troublesome but he quieted on the way up." Three guards dragged Logan's body into the room.
"Leave us." The gaurds looked up at him.
"But sir."
"I said LEAVE!" The guards turned and left looking over their shoulders.
"Hello Logan." Logan was knelling on the floor with chains around him.
"Logan." Storm's whispered word reached through the haze that always surrounded him.
"Ro." Logan’s voice was soft and full of love. Pietro laughed.
"Oh that is rich." Pietro stepped closer and drug a finger a crossed Storm's cheek. "Ro."
"Don't call her that. Don't you dare!" Logan growled the words out as he started to jerk at the chains holding him..
"You have not aged a day. It is so good to see you." A small smile spread across her face. "You should have left." Logan stood carefully pulling the chains a little tighter around himself.
"Not without you." Logan ignored Pietro just like Ororo and she smiled at his words.
"Then I suppose it is time to go?" Logan nodded at her words and Pietro leaned against the wall and laughed.
"Are you two love birds finished? Can we get down to business now?" Ororo turned to Pietro.
"Your father was Magneto?" Pietro lifted his head and nodded to her question. "And your ability is what exactly?" A wide smile spread across his face and the next second he was on the other side of the room.
"Speed." Ororo looked at Logan.
"Well maybe if your fast enough you can out run the coming storm." When the lightning struck the building no one was ready.
The picture faded away.
"Wait wait... that, that was my son!" Erik stepped forward reaching out.
"Yes it was." Hope placed her hand on his shoulder.
"And in the path you choose he hated you but he surpassed your cruelty." Hope turned to Charles.
"Neither of our paths..." Charles’s sentence drifted off but Hope nodded.
"No that was the most likely path that would happen at this moment." Hope said.
"I don't want the camps to happen again even if it is to the humans." Erik’s voice was filled with sorrow.
"I never wanted mutants to fight against each other." Charles stood and turned to Hope. "So Jean and Scott are showing you these things for us." Hope turned around and pointed beyond where they were standing. There beyond them were Scott and Jean.
"Hello Professor, Magneto and Hope." Scott and Jean stepped forward and hugged their daughter. Jean spoke first holding out her hand to Charles. "I am sorry for all the trouble the Phoenix caused you." Charles shook his head.
"No worries my dear." Charles hugged Jean and then she turned to Magneto.
"Erik, you tried to let me be myself but I was unstable. Still thank you." Jean held out a hand to him. "Now let me help you in return." Erik took her hand slowly. "Take away the pain of the past and the hurt the humans caused you." Erik smiled when Jean took her hand away. "It will not be easy but the path must be something the next generation chooses." Erik and Charles nodded. "Don't let them make the mistakes that will lead to those futures but do let them fumble." Jean and Scott started to fade.
"And Hope make sure that Ororo is truly okay because the next generation of X-men already resides within the school." Hope nodded softly as her parents finally disappeared.

Charles blinked and his vision cleared. Only moments had passed while they saw the future. Charles looked at Hope and was amazed at the control she already had and not just the control but the discretion she already used.
"No." Hope's voice was smaller but just as strong. She turned around to look behind her. Charles turned around just in time to see her disappear before lightning struck where she was.
"My path is clear!" Storm had found a way out of the Scarlet Witch's grasp and was now on the attack. "If you won't join me then you are against the Mutant Nation!" Another lightning struck close to Charles and Erik pushed them both out of the way.
"Ororo!" Storm turned to face the man she had never seen before today. "This is not you, let us help."
"Who are you?" Something twirled in her eyes, even though her eyes were white for she was controlling the weather something else lingered there.
"Its me Ororo, its Charles." Ororo stared at him but recognition did not dawn in her eyes. Her arms raised to the sky and lightning came to her fingertips.
"Charles is dead." The lightning ached across the sky to where Charles would have been standing if Kurt hadn't teleported him out.
"Storm." Magneto called to Ororo and she turned to face him.
"What about you! Are you for or against the Mutant Nation." Magneto floated closer to her.
"I have always been for the Mutant Nation." A evil smile spread across her lips.
"Then help me destroy those that are against it." Magneto rested a hand on her shoulder.
"This is not the way this war is going to start my dear." Storm's eyes closed and she turned them on Magneto.
"I will lead the Mutant Nation, anyone that stands between me and those that are against the Mutant Nation are my true enemies." Storm spat out the last word and as she did her hand barely touched Magneto but it was enough to send a good shock through his system. He lost consciousness and fell to the ground where Sabertooth caught him. "Is there anyone among you who will join me?" Storm landed on the ground as the winds started to pick up around her she was surrounded by the students. "No one?"
"Ro." Logan’s voice caused a shuddering breath in and out of her mouth and the clouds in her eyes faded as she turned her face to Logan.
"Together?" Logan saw the same moment he saw with Jean only this time he would not let it end the same. He walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her.
"Always." As he spoke he reached out to Hope with his mind. 'Now.' Storm felt the tickling at the end of her mind so even holding onto Logan her eyes clouded to white and the wind rose up around them.
"Then the Mutant Nation will start with us." The wind threw everyone away and when it cleared Logan and Ororo where gone.
"Where are they?" Rogue's voice was agitated.
"Don't worry Logan is with her." Hank stepped up beside her.
"That's what I am worried about." Charles spoke softly.
"You should all be worried." Everyone turned to Karma who was kneeling next to Scarlet Witch.
"Why?" Karma stood up and let Hank take her place. "Because when I took hold of Scarlet Witch's mind I did not understand everything she had done to change Ororo. I thought it was going well but then something slipped and it all unspirled. Now had she been unconscious when I started it might have been okay but she lashed out. Lashed out so hard with her mind that it caused me to loose my hold and Scarlet Witch is in a coma I am sure. Even if she wasn't I don't believe I could have fixed what was done." Charles sighed.
"I might be able to undo it." Everyone turned to Hope. "Of course I am weak now so I will need help." Hope turned to Nathen and Madelyne who were still working on Gabriel but they paused long enough to nod.
"What will you need?" Peter spoke from the side of the group.
"Because she is so powerful we will need you all to distract her."
"I can help too." Gabriel's voice was richer, fuller and younger then it had been a few minutes ago. Everyone turned to him. "Ororo is a good person I can see that now. I want to make sure she still remains that good person." Everyone nodded at his words. They all knew the real Ororo. The one that had kept the school going even after Charles was gone.
"Do you know where she will be?" Jean-Paul was supporting his sister who looked to have a sprained ankle.
"I do." Everyone turned to Magneto who stood in front of Sabertooth.
"How would you know?" Peter stepped into the circle with his arms crossed. Magneto stepped toward Hope a small smile on his face.
"Because it was my plan that was put inside her head." That made Peter step forward again.
"So why should we trust you?" As Peter spoke he stepped forward into his organic steel form.
"Peter that is enough." Warren spoke. "We all know that Ororo was right about one thing." Everyone looked at Warren. "Whatever our differences were we need to set them aside if we are ever going to find a way to live with the humans. All this fighting amongst ourselves is only going to prove to the humans that they can't trust us." Hope nodded and smiled. "So who is going to lead us into battle?" Everyone looked at each other then Rogue stepped forward.
"Well I spoke with Ororo before all this she was going to have Logan lead the older team and I would lead the second team." Warren looked over at Hank who nodded.
"Rogue," Hank stepped beside her. "Are you sure that your ready for this?"
"I've been doing a lot of studying before my powers came back so yes I believe I am ready. Can you take care of Remy while were gone." Hank nodded. "Alright so it would be best to have three teams. Jeanne-Marie, Proffessor, Karma and Warren it would be best if you stayed here with Hank." The Proffessor who had chosen not to speak up turned and headed back toward the mansion. While they walked Hank spoke.
"Your really going to let them figure it out on their own?" Charles sighed as they walked.
"Yes I don't know how much longer I can hold onto life maybe another year or ten either way its time that they made their road on their own." Hank nodded.
"If its all the same to you I think I will stay with my sister." Jean-Paul helped his sister inside. Rogue nodded and turned to the rest of the group.
"Ray and Megan can you two remain here and help everyone else if they need it." The two nodded and ran back toward the mansion. "Okay Team one will be Peter, your in charge, Evan, Kurt, Rhane, Magneto and Sabertooth. Team Two I will lead, Bobby, Jubilee, Tabitha, Rob, Samuel and Mystique I need you." Mystique nodded and walked over to the group. "Hope I believe that you should take Gabriel, Alex, Kitty and Amara along in case anything happens or if we need assistance." Hope nodded.
"She will head for New York but if we can catch her before she gets there." Rogue nodded at Magneto's words.
"Okay my team will take her on along with Kurt. Because when Kurt gets close enough he will teleport Logan out and Mystique will take his place in the battle." This made everyone pause.
"Why?" Evan was the one to speak up.
"I am not going to assume that he would fight with us he loves Ororo and right now she wants us dead." Evan sighed at Rogue's words.
“That's why you put me on the team that’s going to deal with Logan." Evan spoke and Rogue nodded.
"Right now the best we can hope for is to stop him long enough to see who he will help." Magneto arched an eyebrow at her words.
"You realize that you could send everyone but me and Sabertooth to attack Ororo I can handle the Wolverine." Rogue turned to him but shook her head at his words.
"No offense, I am willing to put differences aside but that does not mean I trust you. The others are there to make sure you don't hurt him." Magneto shrugged at her words.
"Very well have it your way."
"Now once we attack Hope your group will move in if we are not distracting her enough send in Kitty and Amara but I would keep Gabriel and Alex close just in case she downs us."
"What if she does down all of us?" Tabitha spoke up unsure she liked the idea of attacking the head mistress. Rogue turned to Peter.
"If the worst happens I will take it upon myself to clean up my mess." Everyone looked at Magneto.
"And what do you mean by that?" Evan stepped forward.
"I will do what Logan won't do." At Magneto's words Evan was about to lunge until Peter stepped in front of him.
"That is only if the worst happens." Evan bit his lip to keep him from saying anything else.

The wind whipped around them both as they traveled through the sky as fast as she could travel weighted down with Logan.
"Ro!" Her name traveled to her through the wind. Slowing the winds she brought them to a clearing in the woods far from any kind of civilization. Once they landed Logan lifted her face. "Are you okay?" Ororo shook her head.
"No everything is mixed up. Nothing makes sense." Logan could see it now the haze over her eyes.
"I'm here with you so tell me what you need." Ororo smiled at him but it didn't reach her eyes.
"Sleep." Logan nodded and started toward the road with Ororo in tow.
"I'm sure there is something around here that will hold us up for a couple of hours." A couple minutes later put them in front of a small cabin. It might have appeared a bit run down but it seemed fully stocked. "This is one of the school's cabins."
"Further out then all the others." Ororo's voice was drawn out and tired. "Must be one of the hidden ones it isn't on any of the maps." Logan grunted and opened the door for her. Inside was just one large room. A table sat in the front left corner the kitchen or what little there was of the kitchen sat on the front right side. There were two large beds to the back left side and a bathroom on the right side that was separated from the rest of the room by two thin walls.
"Why don't you get some sleep I will try to get some food together." Ororo nodded and walked over to the bed and laid down. She was asleep before her head hit the pillow.
___________________________________________
Warmth surrounded, enveloped and calmed nerves. Things became clearer and clearer, suddenly a pebble was thrown into the pool. Cold harsh winds curled into and around until it was hard to breath. Moments passed slowly then her lungs expanded and she could breath again. She stood alone by the cabin, Jubilee, Tabitha, Samuel all laying on the ground and Bobby, Rogue and Rob stood before her with cuts all along their arms.
"Logan." He had disappeared for a moment but he came to her side.
"I'm here."
"I knew they would come!" Ororo could feel the assault already begin on her head. Ororo fell forward on her knees. "In the woods." Ororo pointed but Logan didn't move. "There. Logan." Again he didn't move. "Help me." Logan leaned over his claws extended.
"I am helping you." As he spoke he changed from Logan to Mystique. A horrified look came over her face. A scream left her mouth that was anything but human. With it came the winds of a tornado pushing and pulling. Rogue jumped at her but was pushed away by the winds. Samuel tried to create a shield around her but the winds whipped him so much he was thrown back into a tree. Bobby used the winds to create ice shards and threw them at Ororo a few got past her winds slicing threw her clothes. Her fury reached new levels. Ororo reached out and grabbed Mystique.
"Where is he!" It was not a question but a demand.
"Away dealing with Magneto." Mystique's laughter rose up above the roar of the winds. "You will never reach him. If Magneto has his way the metal will be ripped from his body." Mystique was whispering in her ear. "If that doesn't kill him then Sabertooth will." Ororo screamed into the tornado and the lightning arched through the sky striking in-between them throwing Mystique across the meadow. Without looking at the group she leaped into the sky pulling the wind to her asking the direction of where he was. Then she was off speeding toward him and there was a moment of clarity. Knowing the purpose Logan. That was all that mattered.
The forest they were in the forest she dropped down in front of Magento. Her eyes narrowed and the surprise on his face was genuine.
"I will not let you kill him." Her whispered words froze everyone in the forest. Logan and Sabertooth fighting. Rhane who had just changed into a wolf, Evan who was getting spikes ready, Peter who was looking for an opening to grab Logan and Kurt who just appeared next to Magneto.
"Darling I have no intention of killing him." Thunder rumbled above in the clouds and the winds whipped around her.
"Don't lie to me." Magneto stepped forward.
"Darling the only one that is dying here today is you." The pain started in her abdomen spreading to the rest of her body as she stumbled backwards. The clouds disappeared from her eyes. Dropping to one knee is when Logan caught her.
"No," Logan shifted her face to look at him. "Ro. No you can't leave me."
"I see clear now..." Logan looked down at her. "You.."
"What?" Logan shifted her body. "Kurt." Kurt stepped closer.
"No..." Ororo shook her head. "No... You need to lead the school. You who can lead them from the darkness." Logan shook his head at her words. "All of this is for you. I love you. Don't let the school fall into oblivion..." Ororo closed her eyes listening to Logan.
"Please don't leave me Ororo. Ro, open your eyes. Please..."

"Logan." The words left her parched lips and he was beside her in a moment. Tears sprang to her eyes. She reached for his hand.
"I'm here." Logan took her hand carefully. "You have only been asleep for an hour or so." Logan helped pull Ororo up into a sitting position. Ororo placed her head in her hands. "You've had another dream didn't you?" Ororo nodded.
"They are coming..." Logan nodded at Ororo's words.
"I know they are." Ororo shook her head.
"No you don't understand my dream... I.. I died." Logan shook his head.
"I won't let that happen." Ororo leaned over and kissed Logan. It was a kiss like before the Scarlet Witch. Logan pulled back and looked at Ororo.
"Magneto is going to try to kill you..." Logan shook his head again. "He kills me instead."
"Ro, I don't want to loose you. Is it clear?" Ororo shrugged.
"I have to lead... something... someone..." Ororo shook her head. "I don't know."
"Do you trust me?" Ororo looked up at Logan.
"Always." Logan nodded.
"Then rest." Ororo laid back down.
"Watch out for Kurt." Logan sighed it was not something he had thought about. He could see it now the spell the Scarlet Witch had wrapped around Ororo's mind was unraveling. She was still unstable though and without him around she would snap. So how to keep them out of the battle.
He reached out with his mind, another mind brushed his own.
'Jean.'
'Hope. Do I sound like my mother?' Logan smiled out the window looking to the woods.
'Your mind feels similar to hers. Yes.'
'We are coming.'
'I know. We know. Ororo had a dream. The spell is unraveling but its still there.'
'I know but I can't do anything about it unless she chooses to let me in... And she isn't.'
'Is Magneto among you.'
'Yes.'
'I need you to do me a favor.'
'Name it.'

"Ororo wake up." Ororo sat bolt up in bed. Logan was looking at her, night had fallen outside, and it appeared that the night brought with it the full moon. "Its time." Ororo climbed out of the bed.
"Who are we fighting?" Logan knelt down in front of Ororo.
"No one if we don't have to." Ororo shook off the last visage of sleep and stood.
"They are against the Mutant Nation they must die." Ororo spoke harshly and Logan pulled her into a hug.
"Ro. Try not to kill anyone." The haze lifted for a moment and she nodded at him.
"For you I will try." Ororo opened the door and stepped out into the moonlight meadow. Jubilee threw up some sparklers to blind them both. Ororo shielded her eyes but it was too late the spots blocked out what was happening in front of her. Logan had slipped past her out into the meadow. Ororo was unable to tell where he was so she stepped away from the cabin keeping her guard up. Feeling the grass beneath her she was unaware of the three little marble sized time bombs. When they went off they threw her to the ground. They were keeping her blind and disoriented so they could take Logan. Closing her eyes she called up the lightning not enough to kill but enough to knock out Logan. When she heard a sound beside her she sent a lightning strike.
The resounding thud of a body hitting the ground confirmed for her that she had hit her mark. Just as her eyesight was clearing another round of sparkles was thrown at her. Another flash of lightning in the direction it had come from rewarded her with another thud. Seven from her dream she was sure there had to be seven, two down. Then the fear gripped her heart.
"Logan!" The scream ripped from her throat as the energy field wrapped around her. The lightning rained down from the sky in every direction. Finally her vision cleared enough for her to see Jubilee, Tabitha, and Rob laying unconscious on the ground. Samuel stood very close to her and Rogue and Bobby were unharmed standing near the cabin. But Logan was no where to be seen. Ororo searched frantically than she saw him walking toward her.
"I'm here." Everything was different then her dream. Ororo thought for a moment.
"What's the password?" Ororo watched his reaction carefully. There was a smile that spread across his lips that could never be his own.
"Tag." The lightning had hit the impostor before they finished speaking. Ororo turned around to face Samuel as her eyes cleared.
"Find Logan." Her eyes lifted to Rogue and Bobby who were coming closer.
"Ororo." The assault on her mind began and she dropped to her knees. There were two parts of her now existing at the same time when only one had any claim. From one moment to the next she was not sure which world was real, the only thing she was sure of was Logan.
"Find Logan." Her voice was strained and the part of her that saw them as friends was screaming for help. Turning up her face she looked at Rogue. "If he dies I will make sure that the first thing I do as Leader of the Mutant Nation is to kill all of you." Rogue watched as something in her eyes changed. "Rogue please. I know your trying to ..." Before her very eyes she changed again. "Kill me!" The scream ripped from Ororo's throat and she stood using all the force the wind had to push all three of them off their feet. This caused Samuel to loose control of the shield but before Ororo could call up the wind to leave. Iceman erected an Ice shield. A scream of anger echoed within.
"That won't hold her for long." Rogue dusted herself off and helped Tabitha to her feet. Iceman looked over his shoulder into the woods and nodded. Kitty emerged with Gabriel who both walked over to Rogue.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Kitty asked carefully.
"I would rather have her in my head then some enemy. Besides if I take enough and she passes out this will make all of it easier." Gabriel and Kitty nodded. "If she finds a way around it or my powers fail then Gabriel is the best bet of distracting her with her own powers.” Shadowcat held out her hand and Rogue took it glad that Kitty didn't need to be holding her bare skin. When they stepped into the ice shield Ororo was bent over holding her head. Kitty walked in step with Rogue. Carefully pulling off one glove she stepped forward and reached. Ororo grabbed her clothed arm before she ever touched skin.
"I told you to find him!" The white eyes turned on her but Rogue leaned forward and whispered in her ear. "I promise you he is safe and you will see him soon." Rogue kissed her cheek and the pull was strong but Rogue controlled it carefully only taking enough to make Ororo pass out. Ororo's clouded eyes faded and for Ororo so did everything else.
"It's done. Lets wrap up and get everyone back home." Shadowcat nodded and stepped through the barrier giving the signal. Once the ice shield shattered and fell away Logan stepped in and picked Ororo off the ground. Rogue turned to Logan and spoke. "How did you know that Magneto would try to kill her or you?" Logan looked down at Ororo.
"She had a dream." Logan spoke and looked back up at Rogue.
"How did the other group do?" Rogue shook her head at Logan's question.
"Not sure but I know Evan was looking forward to it and so was Kurt. Once Hope let us in on the whole plan I sent Amara over to help with Sabertooth and Magneto. Although I think once Sabertooth realizes what’s going on he might just run." Logan looked around and spotted Mystique still stunned on the ground. "It was a nice touch throwing her in." Rogue paused. "Do you think she had anything to do with it?"
"I don't know Ororo didn't tell me a lot of her dream." Rogue nodded. Kurt appeared next to Logan and looked over Ororo.
"Sabertooth took off after Magneto. But I do not believe he will be rejoining his ranks Wolfsbane is following at a distance with Colossus. Spyke and Magma went ahead to let the others know about the shift just in case Magneto heads back to the school." Rogue nodded at Kurt's words and turned to the group that was coming out of the woods.
"The quicker we get her back to the school the quicker we can remove the spell but from the look of it, it might take longer then any of us predicted." Madelyne said.
"If you let me take her I can have her back at the school in about ten minutes." Logan looked at Kurt but he was unwilling to give her up until Rogue came over and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Nightcrawler would never do anything to harm her you know that." As Rogue spoke Logan realized how silly he was being, he nodded and handed her over to Kurt.
