Chapter 12: The Spider’s Fury
Janet Van Dyne’s drive back to the Triskelion wasn’t an easy one. Even dealing with the typical New York traffic. Her mind was going over the facts of her recent encounter with the teenager Peter Parker.
After waking up with her body half-aching and half-numb from pleasure, Janet’s mind very slowly replayed the events that led for her to only describe as quite possibly the best sex she ever had. For all she could remember, there was nothing else that seemed to come remotely close to her encounter with the teenager. The best of intense pleasure she had ever experienced from possible the worst decision she could have ever made.Janet knew that even though she wasn’t the one who initiated intercourse, she did make the decision to fully participate in the end. The obvious negative facts of the situation were on her mind and Janet couldn’t ignore any one of them. While waiting for the light to change in order to continue to her destination, Janet put a hand on her stomach. Being a mutant, especially one with a biology more akin to insect than mammal, there were certain differences that Janet had to keep an eye on. The biggest was the fact her ‘biological clock’ had no real set parameters like the average human female. Janet had not really bothered with any kind of contraceptives, especially with her husband Hank. But what was different with Hank and Peter was that Peter was a meta-human and according to the note she was given by Nick Fury when developing the regeneration serum for him, Peter’s biology was very close to being half-human and half-spider. True from a species viewpoint, both were completely different. But to Janet, that percentage difference could mean her becoming pregnant. That possibility created several scenarios in Janet’s mind that were far too real to even have a hope of ignoring. For all the genius-level work she is capable of, Janet figured that this was one of her top ten stupidest mistakes. Easily ranked number two considering how much of a career ender this would be if and when it was ever gotten out.The first and foremost was the fact she still stayed with a man that had abused her several times in the past. From the time Hank got drunk after failing a physics paper and put her head right through the bathroom door. To the time she danced with some first-year no name student at a Christmas party and Hank responded angrily by punching her hard enough to split the roof of her mouth in two.Janet had told herself that being on the Ultimates would be the chance for a fresh start between them. Now, she was sure any kind of second chance that they might’ve had was now completely gone. And she was the one that made the absolute worst choice. Between her and her husband, Janet was the one that made the worst choice possible.Or did she?The very instant that thought popped into her mind, Janet realized that there were other possibilities that she hadn't even thought of considering.Janet’s mind was in some form of autopilot, going over every new and old thought she now had of Peter Parker, so she was rather surprised that she had already driven back to the Triskelion. Though she hadn't come up with a plan on how to deal with recent events, Janet wasn't sure but something told her that she might still have some more time before reporting to Fury. After being allowed back inside the base and then driving the van back to the garage complex, Janet gathered her items from inside of the vehicle and began making her way to Nick Fury's office.“So, how was the teenage vigilante?”Hearing the sudden voice come from what Janet had thought was an empty area did startle her.“Oh, Natasha. You startled me.” Janet turned to see the only other female member of the team leaning up against a support beam for the multi-level garage structure. It was strange in Janet's view that somehow for a well-lit parking complex, the spy could still not be seen unless she wanted to be seen.Despite having worked with the super spy on several off-the-book missions, there was still a part of Janet that didn't seem to trust with the woman. Possibly because Natasha wasn't the typical kind of woman Janet had ever met. Or maybe because Natasha used to work for people that had destruction of the United States of America in mind.Or the fact that the woman seemed to make any outfit she wore, casual or work-related, easily show off her figure that every men that she walked past couldn't help but stare at. It was hard for Janet not to feel insecure at times despite her own figure and right now was no exception.“Wasn't my intent but you still didn't answer the question. What do you make of the would-be superhero?” Natasha said while slowly walking over to Janet. There was actually a reason why Natasha had come to meet Janet before she would report to Nick Fury. There was something Janet had that Natasha wanted and she had to get it first before anyone else. Something that would work greatly with her plans.“Well, he's definitely an interesting subject. Can't really see why Fury's so interested in him but then again, I'm not the Top Cop of the world.” Janet replied before a curious question entered into her mind. “You're wondering if Nick's going to bring him on the team?”“Not entirely but that's not the thing I'm interested in.” Natasha walked until she had made Janet back up to the van behind her and Natasha herself was right in front of Janet.Janet was wondering what Natasha was doing since the red-head was right in front of her and their chests were almost touching. She was nervous of course but Janet wasn't sure what it was that was making her nervous right now.“What I'm interested in knowing...is how was he?” Natasha said to Janet in low voice. Her words easily conveyed the question that Janet did not want to be asked at the moment.“How....?” Janet's mind momentarily shutdown because of the reality of the question hit her harder than she expected.Natasha put both of her arms on each side of Janet, to essentially box the woman in and face her directly. It was a thrill of sort for Natasha. Basically having a cornered prey and just savoring the moment before going in for the kill.“I've been in the 'business' long enough to know that when someone does something that they have a regret about and want to keep it a secret, one clear sign is how easily they can be startled. Also, I have trained my senses to be as sharp as possible.” Natasha moved in close and took in a sniff around Janet's neck and the exposed area of Janet's chest. “It's very easy for me to make out scents such as the kind that comes from a very distinct kind of action.”Janet wanted to say anything to deny what Natasha was implying but her voice had left her completely. The only thing she could do was hear her heart race as she could feel Natasha's breath lightly caress her skin on her chest.Natasha was pleased to see that her actions were having the desired effect on Janet. Despite the outfit Janet wore, it was easy for Natasha to see how much Janet was becoming aroused by her nipples starting to poke through her clothing.“So tell me: did the spider catch the wasp or did the wasp allow the spider to catch her?” Natasha said in a low whisper right next to Janet's left ear.“It wasn't...like that. I-I-I...he...” Janet was trying her hardest to form a coherent thought and give voice to it but somehow she was unable to.“Shh.” Natasha placed a finger softly on Janet's lips. “I won't tell anyone but know my silence isn't free.”Very softly, Natasha brushed Janet's lips with her finger in a circle. Janet may not have said the words but her eyes easily conveyed the question to Natasha.“One day, I'll call in this favor but until then, I won't tell anyone else.” Natasha said before a sly smile appeared on her face. “Not unless you want me to tell your husband.”“No!” Janet quickly replied but her response hinted at something more than just keeping something a secret. It was something that Natasha easily caught and mentally filed away for later usage.“Then it’s a deal. Just keep in mind...” Natasha got close enough so as to place a light kiss on Janet's lips which caused the woman to blush a very deep shade of red. “I'll get what I want.”Natasha moved to the side enough for Janet to move away. The woman moved from her spot reluctantly, still keeping her gaze right on Natasha until she made her way to the garage elevator. Natasha was aware that at the moment, Janet's mind was going in several different circles and all of them had no real end to them. The gambit that Natasha was playing with Janet at the moment was different than what Janet might've thought it was. Having been in the proverbial spy business for so long, Natasha was well aware that having several plans in play at any given time tends to work in case one plan should fail. Her plans for Peter Parker weren't in jeopardy but Natasha felt that Nick was too close for her to leave things as is.And who knows? Janet may actually prove useful in the future in some fashion. But for now, Natasha decided to go after her current objective which was the van's 'black box'.When Natasha learned that Nick Fury was going to send Janet to patch up the teenage vigilante, she figured it would be the best opportunity to learn more without anyone being the wiser. Of course having to use her access codes to watch what was happening inside of the van did leave an electronic trail inside the S.H.I.E.L.D. mainframe. Easy enough to fix once she returned home considering the level of security that was still in place in the S.H.I.E.L.D. mainframe.Overall it was part of her current plan since what she saw happen between Janet and Peter definitely needed to be kept from Nick Fury's attention for as long as possible. It didn't take Natasha long to find what she was looking for which was the memory card that stored all the recorded events that happened inside the van. It always amazed the red headed spy that for all the advanced technologies that all the superpowers in the world use, every single one of them still uses a piece of technology that any civilian can purchase at a local tech store. The memory card that Natasha now had literally was no different than those used in people's Ipads and such. That just made it easy to replace and make it seem that it was a piece of faulty equipment that went unnoticed.Natasha did respect that kind of man that Nick Fury had to be to run an operation like S.H.I.E.L.D. But her respect for the man ended when she learned some of the plans that Nick had in the works. His endgame was no different than those of her 'other' employers.Overall, it was a game of chess being played out behind the scenes and if Nick Fury had his way, Natasha would become an expendable pawn. Uncovering the details behind the Legacy Project was proof enough in her view.Still, to the matter at hand, Natasha pocketed the original memory card and returned to her living residence without so much as anyone knowing she was there. It took her about ten minutes at most to completely erased all traces of data that said Natasha had been in the mainframe. She had to keep herself from laughing at times at how easy it was to overcome the security measures despite all the precautions that had been taken during installation process. It was possible that Nick Fury might be that trusting of everyone inside the organization. That or the people working for Nick Fury were that naïve and Nick was making assumptions of their abilities.Either way, when the time came, Natasha knew that taking down S.H.I.E.L.D. wouldn't be any real trouble. The only real trouble would come from the Ultimates and that various 'superhero' teams that reside in the area. However, all that was to be dealt with at another time. Now was the time to deal with her current objective.Once she had finished covering her tracks, Natasha headed back to her apartment with the only copy of what happened with Janet and Peter.Of course Natasha had watched the whole event from her own laptop computer but her connection had a glitch issue where the picture fuzzed out several times. The possibility that there was something she might've missed was too great to ignore. No matter the situation, Natasha Romanov was a highly trained spy and all spies knew the value of information and the repercussions of missing even one fragment bit of information. After getting in something more comfortable, her crimson silk robe and panties and nothing much else, Natasha loaded the video onto her laptop and watched it in its entirety. The sun was setting and the night air was starting to roll in. For anyone else wearing such thin material would start to shiver in response to the air of the fall season. But for Natasha, this was one of her training regimes that she was taught. To keep the mind focused under unusual conditions. Her skin easily felt the cold start to bite it. Already her nipples looked like they were going to easily piece the robe she was wearing. But these cold winds were nothing compared to those of the Russian winters. Many times during her training did she see those that underestimate the cold and pay a heavy price for it. Either with their limbs or their lives. For Natasha, times like these help remind her that survival comes at a cost. And now, possibly her own survival was at stake. It was clear to her from what she had initially saw was that Peter Parker was making clandestine-like moves. Natasha might've brushed it off as some weird tryst between Peter and Janet with him being the typical hormonal driven teenager and her being in some kind of strange mindset at the time. But ever since that night when she first met the teenager and bit her, Natasha knew her thoughts and actions as of late were more focused than they should be on Peter Parker. Her other 'employers' had pointed that out which, in the proverbial spy business, isn't a good sign. She knew she have to be a fool in thinking they weren't making a plan for her just in case she becomes too much of a loose end for them. Now, hopefully, a critical piece of information could be found that might help Natasha start piecing together the puzzle between her and Peter Parker.Natasha watched as intensely as she could, memorizing every single bit of images her eyes saw on her laptop's screen. Her ears obsessively listened to the sounds that came from both Peter and Janet. So far what she saw before was exactly the same as she was seeing now. Two people going at it and becoming the proverbial beast with two backs. So far, the rational side of her mind saw nothing that might even hint at something Natasha might've overlooked. But the voice to that side of her mind was quickly being quieted by the more primal side that saw something else and so much more in it's view.Only now did Natasha actually see, and appreciate, the physical form of Peter Parker. The outfit he wore was tight-fitting and relatively left little to the imagination. But seeing it clear on her laptop's monitor, Natasha was unaware how she was more fixated she was becoming. Her body was responding to the increase arousal she was now feeling as her mind very subtly replaced Janet and had her being the one that Peter was drilling at an unbelievable pace. Natasha had been in bed with a variety of men, and some women, and very few from both sexes were able to leave a positive experience with her. Right now, comparing them to what she was seeing now, Natasha was getting a growing opinion that Peter Parker would easily surpass them. And she knew the teenager was still a growing boy. With her more primal aspect of her mind taking over, Natasha wasn't aware that her hands were no longer at her sides. Her sitting position practically showed off what kind of panties she was wearing to anyone who looked in her general direction. This allowed her left hand free access in stimulating the area between her legs. This continued for several moments before her right hand followed her left hand's lead. Natasha began losing herself to her to what her primal mind was now seeing. The setting was the same: inside the S.H.I.E.L.D. van but instead of Janet, it was Natasha herself with Peter on top of her. Her fingers did the best they could to simulate the force of thrusts she believed Peter was capable of doing. Her eyes were still glued to the screen the entire time as was someone else's unknowingly was watching her just as intensely.Natasha might've noticed if her senses weren't clouded by the pleasurable stimulation she was feeling. Or rather, the feeling she was trying to get under control and so far, this was the only means of control that worked. Only recently had Natasha begun to entertain the idea that her body was genuinely aching for the teenager. This helped her better understand her growing obsession with the teenager. But it still left her with more questions than answers.Right now though, none of that matter. Her body was demanding release from the fire that had been growing inside of her. A fire that no matter what she did to extinguish it, she couldn't extinguish enough of it and lately, for long. The cold air against her skin did help but it was ineffective at this moment. This was obviously clear by her breaths being seen when she exhaled into the cold air. It became even more clear when her skin started show light coating of perspiration. It wasn't much longer before Natasha fully lost herself in her acts of self-pleasure. Her hands worked rather feverishly to achieve release. Her mind's eye still seeing herself being under Peter the entire time.Just before she achieved her desire release, Natasha leaned back and instantly felt something that she knew wasn't supposed to be behind her. Her senses kicked in and quickly told her that what was behind her was soft and warm while also solid like stone. The red-head turned her head quickly to see the person that was behind her. While her green eyes were capable of showing her strength and willpower to anyone who looked into them whenever she wanted to, the brown eyes that were staring right back her showed something that sent a chill down her spine. Her breath still showed that the air was cold in her apartment but her body was more attuned to the body heat radiating off of naked male form behind her.How he had snuck into the same room without her noticing was more present on her mind than the fact that he had possibly seen her masturbating.Natasha tried to speak but her voice had left her completely. All she could do was stare into the brown eyes of a hunter that had cornered his prey.Almost faster than she could perceive, Natasha was pinned to the floor with her arms above her head. The sudden movement caused her robe to open up and expose her naked chest to the cold air. Her nipples seemed to become even more erect when exposed to the air. Natasha even noticed that her breathing had increased because of her now racing heart rate.“You are mine.”Natasha couldn't really remember the last time someone from the male species said something that excited her. That something completely unknown had her and she had no idea what to do. Then again, maybe she knew what had her and she wanted nothing else but that at this very moment. In the eyes of Peter Parker, Natasha saw the strong desire and was enthralled by it.“Then take me.”The only words Natasha managed to say before her mouth, her lips were pressed against Peter's lips. Words she had only said one other time in her life and had meant them. The passion Natasha felt in the kiss was unlike anything she had ever felt before. Like she was actually kissing fire itself and feeling the heat but not the burn. Again, like her thoughts earlier about the other lovers she had taken, what Peter was giving her at this moment was beyond comparison to any of them. Her arms were still pinned above her head so Natasha decided to use her legs to hold Peter as close to her own body as she could. She was also agile enough to make it so she could give Peter the idea of what he should really be doing. Natasha's wet panties did allow her to feel the caliber of weapon Peter had and to say the spy was impressed was an understatement. But she still managed to remember that Peter's body was still growing. The possibility of how much more Peter could grow made Natasha even wetter if it was possible. It didn't take much of Natasha's prompting for Peter to get what she wanted him to do. Peter let go of one of Natasha's arm in order to rip off her panties but he pinned her free arm back down in practically the blink of an eye. It hurt when the piece of fabric was ripped from her but it didn't diminish the pleasure she was receiving. When Peter's dick pressed against Natasha's wet pussy, the skin contact alone felt like an electrical shock to her. Natasha's legs increased their hold around Peter's waist as a result. She even caused Peter to grind even harder against her just by using her legs.Natasha didn't know if Peter was teasing her or was misreading her signals since he hadn't put his thick member into her. She started to whimper while they continued the kiss because of the ache that was beginning to grow between her legs. It became too much for that Natasha broke the kiss in order to voice her pain.“Please! I need it in me! Put it deep inside of me!” Natasha all but yelled out to Peter. She could even feel her eyes send the strongest pleading look to Peter.“Which one?” Peter said and then showed something to Natasha that surprised her.Peter's mouth was opened just enough to show off the four fangs he had. Natasha realized that while they had kissed, she didn't feel anything that remotely resembled fangs. She had thoroughly explored his mouth but didn't feel anything out of place. It was about a moment later that Natasha felt something else. At best it could be described as a phantom pain and it was coming from the area where Peter had bitten her the last time. Now there were two growing aches in her body. Between her legs and the area on her neck and both were growing in intensity. The ache became so much that Natasha began to writhe underneath Peter. Her arms were still pinned but she had yet to unwrap her legs from Peter's waist.“I asked you a question. Which do you want?” Peter's voice showed a sign of being a little impatient but he moved close to where he had bitten Natasha before.Natasha gasped when she felt Peter's fangs just lightly touch her skin. Only for a moment did the ache around her neck leave her but when Peter moved his fangs away, it returned practically with a vengeance. It didn't help matter that the ache between her legs increased as well. The spy had been trained in how to deal with torture, to deal with any forms of pain the enemy would deal to her. Some of the training she had gone through most would be consider beyond any sense of humane to downright sadistic. But right now, none of that helped Natasha in trying to keep herself from completely giving in.This was her moment for the reputation of being a master spy. She was trained never to give in, not even in the face of death. To all of her trainers and superiors, this was no different and to give in now was an unforgivable offense. But the adult was completely at the mercy of the teenager. Only now did Natasha truly understand why Janet did what she had done. Janet made a choice then so Natasha made her choice now.Peter's grip on Natasha's wrists was solid but she had learned how to escape even if her hands were nailed against the wall. Peter didn't notice one of Natasha's hand get free until she had reached up and brought his face right back to where it was just several moments ago.“I want all of it.” Natasha said right into Peter's ear. The seriousness in her voice was clear so there way to misinterpret what she wanted from Peter.Somehow Natasha could feel a smile appear on Peter's face after hearing Natasha's words.“Then you'll have it all.” Peter replied while repositioning himself so he could easily enter Natasha. The anticipation Natasha felt wasn't like anything before. Even when she was tasked with her first assassination assignment. Or when she was trained to use her gender as a weapon. This was for something entirely new and Natasha knew she may not entirely know what she was asking. But she didn't care as long as Peter gave it all to her.“And then, you will be a true spider.” Peter said right before he sunk both his fangs and his cock as deeply as he could into Natasha's body. The combined sensation of both was almost too much to bear which surprised Natasha completely. Her body reacted on reflex with her one hand still holding Peter right where he was and her legs wrapped around his waist. Both held onto Peter like he was a literal lifeline. Natasha's eyes were firmly closed shut and her teeth were clenched tightly but bared. As much as she wanted to grunt in time of the rhythm of Peter's thrusts, all Natasha could really do was making loud and long groaning soundsNatasha knew what it felt like for her when she achieved a true orgasm. Of course she had been trained to literally fake it if need be but this was one of the very few times she didn't have to be. And she enjoyed it.The red head gave voice to her intense pleasure, practically screaming as loud as she could. The heat from the scream itself was clearly visible and reached a considerable height before dissipating. It was also a sign to anyone that might know Natasha intimately that she had truly achieved a genuine sexual release after so many years. Her entire body went completely limp after the intense feeling of release. All her senses were completely muddled. It was almost a challenge just to catch her breath and hope that her heart didn't just jump out of her chest from the pounding it was doing. After spending an eternity in several moments, Natasha's mind became clear enough to come to several conclusions about what had just happened. She might've asked the obvious question about how someone managed to get as close as Peter had gotten to her without her noticing. She also might've asked herself the question why she had allowed everything to happen. But these obvious questions were completely thrown out the proverbial window by something even more obvious.Peter Parker had never been there to begin with.It took Natasha several moments to realize everything she had just experienced was all fictional. She had torn off her own panties and her hands were covered in her own release. The simplest explanation at the moment for her was the fact she had masturbated herself into her own fantasy. Even looking at her hands and seeing the clear evidence didn't really convince Natasha of this. Her mind had been trained to still think under heavy duress and even now she couldn't think of anything else that might be a possible answer.Turning her head to look back at the laptop, Natasha noticed that the video file she had been watching was paused. It took her a moment to focus her eyes but when she looked at the frozen image, Natasha saw something she hadn't really seen before. Focusing her eyes as best as she could to reveal the sight of something that confused her while it made the strangest of sense. It showed Peter Parker with exposed fangs moving close to what could obviously only be to bite Janet in the neck area. That was enough to tell her that back when she first met the teenage vigilante, he had bitten her as well.Natasha rubbed the area on her neck where Peter's fangs had pierced the skin. Ever so often the area would ache just as much as the other parts of her that ache. That settled things for the master spy. There was something that Peter Parker had that Natasha wanted. And she was going to take it even if it meant taking teenager just for herself and risk both Nick Fury and her other 'employers' coming down on her as a traitor.Unfortunately for the spy, she had forgotten one of the basic rules when working for multiple employers. Even when every precaution is taken to ensure that no one is watching or listening, it can only work as far of a radius that can be maintained. Natasha's other employers knew how skillful she was in her trade. They also knew how dangerous she could be and how prudent it was to keep close tabs on her.The windows in Natasha's apartment were made of a type of glass that only the human eye could see through. Anything else, specifically surveillance equipment that could normally see or hear through, it was meant to guard against that. But none of that was effective against tech that used the electrical wiring of the building itself as a means of obtaining visual and audio information.Every electrical outlet of the room that Natasha was in clearly relayed all that had occurred right to the person that was assigned to watch the red head. His orders were to report anything even remotely suspicious to Abdul Al-Rahman. Clearly this qualified as such and he immediately reported it.“So the infamous Black Widow is playing an angle that she not only doesn't want Nick Fury to know but us as well. Is that what you're telling me?” Abdul Al-Rahman asked via the video conference call that the operative had initiated.“Not exactly sure the meaning of the details are right now but I've seen more than enough that warrant your concerns.” was the operative's reply. “Should I take the appropriate measure and eliminate the target?”Though the screen was blank and the communication line was heavily encrypted, the operative was well aware what the decision was going to be. The only real question was the method that would be chosen.“No. Gather your things and pull out. Your assignment is over. I'll deal with the twice-traitor.”Once that was spoken, the encrypted communication line went dead. The operative already knew it would be pointless to use this means of communication again because of S.H.I.E.L.D. monitoring everything the agency possibly could. As per the protocol, the operative hit a command key on his laptop and then walked away after gathering the few the items he had with him.Five minutes after he had left the apartment, the laptop followed its last command and self-destructed in a very impressive explosion. The resulting fire quickly consumed the entire building as well as the other tenants that lived in the apartment complex. The news media would report 20 families were lost in the unexplained explosion and fire that destroyed the building in under twenty minutes.Even with an agency like S.H.I.E.L.D., hiding in plain sight is still the best option. What was left of the building would not reveal anything no matter how fine of a search grid was done. That also included if S.H.I.E.L.D. decided to take a look. With the carnage that was yet to come, people would look back and say these lost families had been spared such horror. As the players made their moves behind the scenes, the world at large paid more attention to an act that was seen even greater than the loss of 20 New York families to the public eye.Spider-Man had killed a police captain while trying to rob an armored car that was retrieving a shipment of cash from an Atlantic city casino. The words of this event easily suppressed the story of a fire destroying an apartment building. It didn't take long for it to spread across the city and reach the ears of a teenage vigilante and his 'close' friends. After his dealings with Janet Van Dyne, Peter had to explain to Liz and Mary Jane what happened in the van. Peter tried to keep some of the more scandalous details out but both girls' hard stare eventually made him reveal the fact he had sex with an adult. The situation wasn't entirely easy considering that Peter was already had sex with another adult woman.Peter had heard of the old saying, about 'Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned'. He currently wondered if he was about to get a real life from these two. If not then he knew one hellion of a girl that would certainly blast him for he had done. This was the main topic of conversation between Peter and the other girls.“So, just to make sure I'm on the same fucked up page as everyone else is, someone from S.H.I.E.L.D. comes to the school to patch you up because they saw you get shot just like the rest of us. And you fuck her?” Lana asked while eyeing Peter with a look that clearly said she was a step away from blasting him.Peter just shrugged rather sheepishly in response. He knew what he had said meant but he also knew there wasn't really a good way to spin the fact that he had screwed essentially a government worker.“I don't know why exactly. All I know is that after she had injected me with something she said would help me heal, I just couldn't help myself.” Peter realized what he had said wouldn't exactly work in his favor so he tried one more time for a suitable spin. “My biology is different because of that spider bite so what she injected me was probably more designed for humans than meta-humans. I could have easily mutated further, growing more limbs and eyes like a spider. I know it sounds like a crap explanation but how it went down is better than how it could've, right?”After he had said those words, Peter quickly looked around to see what escape route he could utilize. The looks he got from each girl definitely told him they were not really happy with him at the moment. Especially Lana since her hands were slightly glowing and his spider-sense was giving off a light warning.Somehow Lori, Lana's mother, must've sensed that her daughter was about to blast Peter for his recent actions and so placed a hand on her shoulder to help calm Lana down some. At least enough to where Lana powered down some.“Now that you've fucked a member of the Ultimates, what are you going to do now?” Lori asked, which was clearly the question on all the girls' minds. That question Peter was prepared for but was still at something of a loss of words on how to set up his point.“Did you plan on adding her as another notch on your belt when you first saw her? Or did you want to see if you could control her through orgasms?” Lori asked practically flat out.Now that was a question Peter wasn't at all ready for. It practically hit the proverbial nail on the head at what Peter's intentions with Janet Van Dyne. The group had discussed before about forming a kind of team that was similar to the Ultimates. All the details hadn't been addressed yet and the ones with powers, only two of them were so far on board with the idea. Within the last several days, the girls were starting to seem less and less committed to the idea because of some detail or reason that hadn't been taken into account.Peter had once thought that if he didn't regularly inject the girls with his venom, they might eventually realize their current situation and drastically change their roles. If that meant he would have to regularly inject the women, Peter knew he wouldn't be able to meet the demand since the amount of venom he could regenerate would only last at best several days. Three days if he could learn how to ration his venom than he could now.Looking at Lori and trying to figure out how best to answer her question, Peter did get an idle thought when looking at the mature mother. He would have to test this idea somehow and soon if his current hypothesis was right.Currently at the moment the entire room was quiet for the proverbial pin drop to be heard. It was because of that did the breaking news report was loud enough to catch all the room's occupants' attention.“Repeating our headline story, this news channel has received word that as of right now, Spider-Man is New York's new public enemy No.1.”That one sentence was more than enough to get everyone's attention. When they all turned to the tv to see what they had just heard was true, each one of them had an equally surprised look on their face. The news channel was showing an amateur footage off of someone's cellphone where someone in a Spider-Man costume had just knocked over an armored car but was making a run for it when a bunch of police officers at a nearby police convention quickly responded.“Ok, Peter, did you actually try to rob a fucking armored car?” Lana asked flat out which caused everyone else to look at her as if she had just grown another head. “Considering Peter's track record with the police and stupid shit, do all of you don't fucking consider it a possibility?”Peter couldn't help but groan when the others made acknowledgment of agreements.Despite the attempt to alleviate the mood, everyone's mood immediately became full of dread when the video they were watching showed what happened to cause Spider-Man to be seen as true threat.Several police officers fired at the imposter with one hitting the backpack the imposter was carrying. One could speculate that there was volatile items inside since the backpack started to seriously spew clouds of smoke. The imposter clearly knew what it meant for he desperately got rid of the burning backpack and threw it as far away from him as he could. In the vicinity of where the backpack landed was a young kid who had just been in the wrong place at the absolute wrong time.Peter and the girls watched as a police officer didn't hesitate to move in and get the five year old boy out of the blast zone. Unfortunately, there was only enough time for one to make it. The flash of the explosion was more than enough to temporarily blind the cellphone's camera but that also meant the worst possible outcome for the police officer. All the girls were completely silent at the sight of someone doing something heroic and paying the ultimate price for it. The girls were suddenly of the same thought, that maybe one day soon it would be Peter giving his life in a similar fashion. The entire scene that was shown on the tv screen sent a chill down each individual spine in the room. But it was Peter who had a much more deeper chill along with a horrible feeling growing in the pit of his stomach. The face of the police officer was only seen for at best several seconds but Peter instantly recognized the person. He had seen the man before when he had come to his home to ask his aunt if it would be alright for his daughter to stay with them for the time being. He told them he was going to be in Atlantic City for a convention.Peter didn't even bother to tell the others where he was going after his realization. He ran right out of the room and was gone before any of the girls could even speak a sentence of where Peter was going. There had been several times Peter had moved as fast as he possible could to get back home either because of his duties as a student or an employment or as a vigilante but this was the fastest he had ever moved to date. Peter wasn't sure what was driving him to move so fast. It was like a conviction he held but wasn't aware of having until now.Peter didn't realize that by the time he had made it back to his home via his web-lines, he hadn't put on his outfit at all. Someone could have easily spotted him and/or make the connection that he was Spider-Man. But Peter didn't even care after that realization. His only care in the world at the moment was to get home. What Peter saw when he reached the neighbor block confirmed what he feared. Peter had other thoughts running through his mind when he saw the multiple police cars in front of his home. One such thought was that was his own worst had come to past, that his Aunt May taken from him the same way his Uncle Ben was.Crushing that thought back down, Peter ran inside the house and saw what he expected to see.In the living room, there were several off-duty police officers with solemn looks on their faces. His Aunt May was doing her best to console a very visible grieving Gwen Stacy. Peter played the role of ignorance to make sure he didn't give away his other persona any more than he already had.It took only several minutes for Peter to hear the same story from everyone there that he had already heard on the tv. After the police officers gave their condolences to Gwen and left, the rest of the evening passed at a solemn pace. The sun had gone down with Gwen and Peter sitting on the rooftop of the house in silence. Gwen had definitely cried her heart out after learning her father was killed in the line of duty. Peter found it more troubling when Gwen hadn't said a single word after she finished crying. That was why he had followed her to the roof and sat next to her quietly for at least an hour. The silence was a bit unnerving but Peter couldn't think of anything to break it but he knew he had to at least try.“It's not the end of the world.” Peter said which caused some reaction from Gwen other than some kind of grunt of acknowledgment.Gwen looked right at Peter after he had said that to her. It was clear she wanted him to explain what he had just said.“I know it feels like it. That everything you've ever known and cared for is gone. There isn't anything that's going to take that pain away any time soon.” Peter reached over and placed a hand on Gwen's shoulder. “But that doesn't mean you have to deal with it alone.”The expression on Gwen's face was really hard to read. It was like reading a stone wall that only hinted at something was behind it. What was behind this wall actually worried Peter. He remembered what his expression looked like when he caught the man that had killed his Uncle Ben.Peter had asked himself a particular question about that situation ever since that day and the answer scared the Hell out of him. If it wasn't for the fact he had let him go earlier, Peter knew he would have killed that man and knew he would have gotten away with it. No one else knew he was there and no one, not even the cops, would care that another low-life punk was killed.Right now, Peter knew he could see a hint of that rage inside of Gwen. The teenage girl was in a storm of emotions now and one of them was clearly the kind that would grow into something dangerous. The teenage vigilante knew right here and now his next words had to be chosen very carefully if he had any hope of quelling the anger that was beginning to take root inside of Gwen.“It's alright to be angry but don't let it be what drives you. Don't let it consume you. You won't like what you'll become. Your father wouldn't approve of it.” Peter said, hoping that his words had reached his friend. But those hopes took a seriously hard hit when Gwen brushed Peter's hand off of her shoulder.“My father's dead.” Gwen replied. Her words easily echoed the anger that Peter feared was growing inside of her. “All because of Spider-Man.”Hearing that felt like the hardest hit to his stomach. Those words held such conviction that anyone hearing it knew that this person believed it to be true right down to her soul. All the good he had been trying to accomplish, the innocent people he tried to defend all amounted to nothing in this one person's view.Peter had never really cared what the Daily Bugle reported about him or what the internet junkies said on blog or forum sites. Mindless chatter is what he chalked it all up to at the end of the day. People trying to have an opinion and make it seem like they spoke the word of God or other such nonsense. But to hear this from Gwen and see it that she believed it as the absolute truth. It was more than enough to make Peter believe that even his own Uncle Ben was looking down upon him with complete disappointment.“Now if you don't mind, I kinda want to be left alone.” Gwen said while turning her gaze away from Peter.Peter got the subtle message. He remembered that he was of like mind after his own tragedy and even if he wanted to say anything else, Gwen would not hear any of it.As Peter made his way to his room, it felt like he had to use every bit of his spider-strength to move one leg after the other. Peter felt he didn't even have the strength to take of his clothes off and get into his pajamas. He practically fell right onto the bed and just laid there for a good while. It was in this time Peter managed to figure out why he was in such a hurry to get back home earlier. In a strange sense of truth, Peter realized that he had hurt someone else again by his actions. Someone had used his name, his symbol for their own gains. That was bad enough since that gave most people the excuse to be right. Now that someone was dead, it fell on him because it wasn't some punk with a gun. It wasn't a gang banger or a career criminal.Gwen was right. It was Spider-Man that killed her father and it was indeed the truth. Peter knew that if hadn't gotten himself shot earlier like he had then he would easily be in a better position to stop the imposter. He even knew that if he hadn't given into his base desires and screwed that woman, he could've at least proven that to the public that there were two Spider-Man and the imposter was the one that killed Gwen's father. He had failed once again with the wisdom that his Uncle Ben had given him. Peter made the decision he had thought he had made before when he realized his first failure. This time he wouldn't fail and he would start by bringing that man who killed Gwen's father to justice. One way or another. The following morning came and as expected, Gwen was still understandably depressed. It wasn't a school day which meant that she pretty much stayed in her room the whole day. Peter wanted to stay at the house and try to help Gwen any way he could but his part-time job at the Daily Bugle unfortunately required his presence. He did manage to get in touch with Mary Jane and apprise her of the situation. The red head did agree to come over to the house and do her best to keep an eye on the blonde. After Peter had arrived at the newspaper building, he went about fulfilling his responsibilities as the business' web designer. Luckily, that also meant Peter could use the media's resources to help track down the Spider-Man imposter. His first idea was to pinpoint the location of the banks that were hit and try to establish a pattern. It was a Hell of a stretch of an idea but at the moment it was all Peter had to go on.If it wasn't for the fact that Peter's cubicle was practically right next to the editor-in-chief's office, he might not have heard the commotion that was happening between J. Jonah Jameson and his second-in-command Robbie Robertson and top reporter Ben Ulrich.“Get down to the bank Ulrich! GO! GO! GO!” Jameson yelled out as clear as he could for everyone to hear.Peter had learned quickly enough that whenever the boss shouted in that manner, there was a breaking story happening or he was firing another incompetent employee. Peter did smile since he assumed Ben was doing a story that Jameson wouldn't publish and they were arguing back and forth for who was right. Peter also noticed that those two arguing back and forth was practically a daily occurrence between the two.“Make sure to send a cameraman as soon as you can! I can take some pictures with my cellphone but I know you hate those!” Ben yelled back as he was running towards the elevator as fast as he possibly could.“Call the very instant you have anything!” Jameson yelled out before the elevator doors closed. He then turned to his old friend Robbie with a smug look on his face. “Told you Robbie! Told you so!”The brief conversation clearly hinted at something other than the usual yelling match between Jameson and Ulrich. It got Peter curious enough to look out of his work station to see what was actually going on.“What's going on?” Peter asked Robbie since J. Jonah Jameson had already reentered his office.“Huh? Oh, Peter.” Robbie's face clearly told Peter that something was bothering him. That definitely increased Peter's curiosity since from what he knew of the man, he wasn't the kind to be bothered easily. “You know that fool running around in a Spider-Man costume? Well, he got himself into another stand-off with the police.”That was all Peter needed to hear before he took off. He didn't even bother to wait and hear how Robbie hoped that Jameson was still wrong about Spider-Man. That he was the hero the city sorely needed.Hearing that the murdering bastard had re-emerge, Peter had his chance and he was not going to pass it up. Peter managed to get within earshot of the cab Ben was taking to the crime scene. He just managed to hear the address that Ben wanted to be at only because he yelled out while jumping into the cab at the same time.Wasting not time once he knew where to go, Peter was already in his outfit and started web-swinging just as fast as he had yesterday. But only now with a greater reason than before. Someone was already dead because he wasn't there to make the difference. Now, Peter was going to make a difference by stopping this criminal today. And end him.In what was probably record time for him, Peter swung to the bank that the police had reported had Spider-Man cornered. Peter wanted to enter the bank right away but he remember the last time he barged in without thinking and got shot as a result. This time he wanted to make sure about the situation before he confronted the imposter. Peter overheard from the general chatter that the police also reported that there were hostages and they couldn't make a move since they had no idea if the fake Spider-Man would inflict harm on them. That alone made Peter spur to action. He didn't really care this time about whether or not in making a grand entrance but he wanted to make sure the world knew there were two Spider-Men. And the real one was going to deal with the fake here and now.The whole world watched as Spider-Man, the real one, swung down from the city and crashed through the main skylight of the bank and directly confronted the imposter who was holding a woman hostage with a taser. A self-defense tool that wasn't necessarily lethal but Peter wasn't going to take that chance considering the fact the criminal had the tool against her neck. For the crowd of people in the bank, what was happening in front of them made no sense to them. They thought they were being held hostage by Spider-Man when all of a sudden another shows up and has a face-off with the first one.“YOU! You back the fuck off or I will kill this dumb bitch right here and now!” the Spider-Man imposter said while holding the weapon in his hand right against the woman's throat. The people watched as the new Spider-Man had yet to make a move to the first Spider-Man's threat. Again, the one holding the woman hostage screamed at the other one to leave or he would kill her.“I'm not scared of you!” the fake Spider-Man yelled out. Only the real Spider-Man caught the truth in the fake's voice. He was very much afraid. “Now you go back the way you came and you get out of here!”Spider-Man didn't make a single response or move. The imposter was starting to show how nervous he was. His hand was starting to visibly shake and the rest of his body language was screaming how worried and afraid he was becoming with each passing second.“I-I'll do it! I swear-swear to Christ that I'll-I'll-I'll kill her! I will fucking kill her!”That sentence alone spiked Peter's anger inside of him twice-fold. He moved so fast in firing a web-line at the man's taser that the man was already speaking the words, “I'll do it.” before he realized Spider-Man had caught him in his web.“Come here you murderer!” Spider-Man yelled out as he yanked his web-line which sent the criminal flying right at him. When he was close enough, Spider-Man back-handed him and sent the criminal flying across the room.“Do you know what you've done?! That you killed someone?! Do you even know what you've done yesterday?!” Spider-Man yelled out as he quickly moved to where he had knocked the fake to. “You dressed like me and you murdered someone! Did you think I wasn't going to do anything about it?!”“Get away from me! Get away!!” Those were the only words the would-be bank robber managed to say before his ability to speak was rendered useless when Spider-Man grabbed him by the back of his neck with the force of an industrial vice-grip. It was clear to all now watching, even the police officers that were still outside that this man was afraid and the real Spider-Man wasn't letting his prey go.“The people, the entire city thinks I killed a man! They think I stole from them! You did all this and for what?! Money?! Attention?! Fucking shits and giggles?!” Spider-Man practically roared out when he pulled back his fist and hit the man just close to all of his strength he could summon. The fake Spider-Man again flew across the room. This time he crashed right through some cabinets and a desk, turning the wooden furniture into practically kindling. The man's jaw was clearly broke from the punch when he tried to speak to stop the assault.“Okay, I know you're mad. Just-just take the money. Take the money and leave me alone!” The fake's words sounded like he had tried to speak with some gravel in his mouth.Spider-Man didn't even acknowledge the man's words. All he did was fire another web-line at the guy which caught him dead center of his chest. Spider-Man pulled the web-line hard enough to send the guy right back at him like before. To the audience, it was like watching someone playing with a rag doll. Taking every bit of anger and frustration out on it.Once the fake Spider-Man was within arm's reach again, the real Spider-Man held him by his throat again and ripped off his mask to see who it was that killed Gwen's father.Peter got a good look at the guy's face. Despite the blood coming from both his nose and mouth and half of his face starting to swell up, Peter didn't recognize this person at all. Only for like a second did Peter lose some of his anger since he at least knew it wasn't someone he had met before using his name and such as some kind of twisted pay back scheme. But his anger came right back in full force after Peter realized that he didn't know this person.“I've seen jerks like you running around the city taking whatever they want! Like they live in some kind of movie where the consequences are non-existent!” Spider-Man said while bringing the man's face right next to his own. “Why my costume?! Why did you pick me?!”“Aw come on! It's nothing personal. I just thought it would be a cool gimmick...” the man managed to say despite having a hand on his throat that was crushing his wind pipes. “It wasn't personal, I swear! I just...gaah!”Peter's grip was increasing in response to the reply he was given.“Please....I'm...just some...guy...”Peter threw the guy to the floor, his rage so apparent that everyone watching knew Spider-Man was seconds away from killing this man with his bare hands.“So...'some guy' can pretend to be famous because he puts on a costume, is that it?!“No...” it was the only word the man managed to so now. It wasn't just a reply to Spider-Man's question. The man had now realized that he was dead and nothing was going to save him.“Then what's the stop me from murdering you, huh?!” Spider-Man wrapped both hands around the imposter's throat and began to apply some serious pressure. “What difference would it make?! You killed someone and you're going to tell me you don't deserve the same?! You took a father away from a daughter, the only family she had left all because you wanted someone else's money!”Everyone inside the bank watched as Spider-Man began squeezing the life out of the exposed imposter.“Tell me why I shouldn't kill you right now?!” Peter didn't care if there was a reason or not. That was how much his anger had taken control. The residual anger Peter had back when he caught the guy who killed his Uncle Ben was something Peter had thought he had buried deep enough so it wouldn't be a problem. But it was still there and it latched onto the anger Peter had at the moment. It was clear that at this very moment Spider-Man was more than capable ending this man's life. Practically nothing could save this man's life now.“Kill him and you're no better than he is. Especially when he took that man's life.”Spider-Man might've not acknowledge the words but he definitely acknowledge that someone had spoken to him when he felt a hand grip his shoulder. Turning to see who it was, Spider-Man was more confused than surprised by who he saw.“Nick Fury? The head of S.H.I.E.L.D., here?” Spider-Man said while still keeping his hands around the criminal's throat.“It's true. Kill him and the police will have a legitimate reason to arrest you. You've beaten him. Hand him over to the police and let’s get out of here.” Nick said.Spider-Man looked at Nick Fury and then back at the man he was just about to kill. He wasn't sure how long he debated about his situation but he made his decision. Spider-Man let go and allowed the man to fall back to the ground with an audible thud. He was still conscious enough for Spider-Man to say one last thing to him before he left.“You're going to tell the police you were behind all the robberies. You're going to take the responsibility of killing that police officer. If you don't, I'll make sure that when they let you out of jail, you be begging that I ended your life this day.”Peter was actually worried that though he intended his words to be a bluff, a part of him would actually follow through with his threat. He decided to put those thoughts off to the side for now and deal with what was in front of him. After Spider-Man webbed the would-be bank robber to the ceiling, he reluctantly followed Nick Fury out the back. He wasn't sure why the reported Top Cop of the World would do something so obvious such as going out the back of a surrounded building. Peter quickly realized that it was a sort of misdirection since all the hostages practically stampeded out of the bank through the front entrance. The police force was distracted just enough for the two of them to duck into the alleyway and easily walk away from the entire scene and completely out of sight from the public. This definitely surprised Peter because of how simple and basic of a strategic move it was.Maybe there was something to the Top Cop of the World after all.“How did you know we could easily walk out the back and no one would see us?” Spider-Man asked flat out when he was sure they weren't in anyone's view sight.“This ain't my first rodeo, kid.” Nick replied with high level of confidence to the teenager.“So you help vigilantes on the weekends or something?”“Only those that are about the make the biggest mistake they could make as a vigilante.”Peter was grateful that the man had intervened when he did but the teenager was already wondering why such an important man was standing next to him all alone. It was like if the Pope had gone to random catholic church for a Sunday brunch event and didn't tell anyone else in the world. In a way, that gave Peter a clue that Nick Fury was here for a reason. This was the first time Peter was going to play a round of Texas Poker with the man and he was sure the cards that were in Nick Fury's hands were better than his own right now.But that didn't mean he couldn't bluff through this round.“Well, thanks for the assist but I'm not clear about something.” Peter asked while at the same time keeping an eye on the current surroundings. He had followed the man and it was possible that right now Peter was where Nick wanted him to be.“What needs to be cleared up for you?” Nick's current expression was readable but somehow Peter knew it was a practice facial expression. A mask that was in plain sight as it were.“Right now, instead of when that bastard first showed up, is when you make a move. Aren't you supposed to ensure the peace or is the events of one city escapes your notice because you're too busy?”“Kid, as much as the politicians that sit their asses in cushy chairs on Capitol Hill would have you believe how effective S.H.I.E.L.D. is, in truth we do as much as we're allowed to do. Someone pretending to be you knocking over banks doesn't mean I get to send Captain America or Iron Man or even Thor after him at the snap of a finger.” Nick's reply carried a tone that said he was explaining something that was dirt simple to a child of five years.“Oh I get it. If it's only one life, someone that you don't know or is a general nobody than it's not worth your time. But if it's someone who's high profile or if the situation is high profile in of itself, then you get off your ass to do something. That about right?” Peter said.“Check that attitude of yours, kid. The world isn't as black and white as you want it to be or even believe that it is. Last I checked, killing an unarmed civilian, even if he was a criminal that just murdered someone, can still be a crime. He would have been the only to claim self-defense since you were clearly dead set on killing him.”Peter narrowed his eyes at Nick when he said. Nick's own words gave away a clue whether the man realized it or not.“How long had you been in the bank out of sight?”Nick reflexively tightened his jaw when he was asked that. Peter caught it and that told him what question he should ask next. “You don't strike me as the kind of guy that got that position of yours by, as they say, polishing a desk with your ass. The eye patch alone says that you never had to deal with paperwork as much as you probably do now. So I should really ask: why didn't you take that fake Spider-Man out?”“Get real kid. If I had taken him down before you showed up, the public would still believe you're nothing but a criminal even with that guy confessing to everything and rotting in jail. I'm pretty sure that you aren't that young to grasp the old saying 'seeing is believing' and how much it plays a role in today's modern society.”'Well played hand there.' Peter thought since he couldn't really fault that kind of logic but he had a card he could deal out that would really challenge Nick's position.“How about Atlantic City yesterday?”Again, Nick tightened his jaw some more. Almost came close to grinding his teeth before he replied.“What happened there happened way too fast for any kind of response could be put into place.”Peter felt his mouth form a small smile resulting from Nick's response. “Including the aftermath? Where pretty much all form of news latched onto the idea that I had just killed a police captain?”Nick was fairly impressed at how sharp the kid's mind was. Intelligence reports tell you one thing but seeing it in action always told you more. Unfortunately, it also meant that the teenager had made some connections in his mind that would be very difficult for Nick to spin into his favor.“How about we get to the point and you tell me why you're really here.” Peter said while crossing his arms in front of his chest. He also began lightly tapping his foot to show his level of impatience with the man in front of him.“I'm here to stop you from making a mistake. You were fully prepared to kill that man with your bare hands. You were going to do what a lot of people who have nothing better to do than speak their absent minds over the internet and such love to talk about. Why no one should take the law into their own hands.”Again Peter had to give credit to Nick since he was undeniably right in that regards. Then again, there was a possible other side to Nick's argument.“I get that but you left out an important fact here.” Peter waited a moment before saying anything to gauge the reaction of this man. “What about the fact I learned before yesterday that you already know who I am under the mask and yet you were going to let me twist in the wind when it came to the public wanting my head for the death of Police Captain George Stacy?”Nick decided to go more on the offensive at this point. “Kid, do you realize how many people are actually trying to find out who you are? Only one percent of your admirers are just nerds like you and gossipers that have no other real thing in their lives at the moment. Remember that big guy they were calling in the newspaper as the Kingpin, Wilson Fisk?Peter nodded, remembering how close he came to losing his life but in the end he managed to score a major victory against him.“Well, he's spending some serious cash trying to learn your identity. You did something that no one else managed to do and that was get him to leave the country and his 'empire' behind. Even with the influential people that are in his pocket, there was no way he could walk away from a solid murder act like he was caught doing on that video.”That made Peter momentarily cringe since it proved how easily he overlooked more of the consequences of that victory. He had thought that the power vacuum that occurred when Fisk ran away was the worst since it allowed every gun-totting punk with dreams of delusions to come out of the woodwork.“The man's got contacts in the FBI, NSA, CIA and about almost every other major law enforcement agencies in the world. Hell, he's even asking known terrorist organizations for information. That doesn't even mention how many politicians he's got in his fat back pocket. I can honestly tell you that the hour after Fisk had to leave the country because of what you did, he put out a bounty on your head.”Nick pressed his point more towards the teenager. “The amount of resources I've had to utilize in order to cover any trails that could possibly lead to you as being Spider-Man are considerable and frankly, I wouldn't even do this for the president of these United States and he's the one that signs my paychecks.”Peter knew he had made some dumb decisions before but that was because he wasn't all the informed on those situations. Everything he was hearing now told Peter that if someone like Nick Fury was doing this without his knowledge or asking, it was a “quid pro quo” situation. Never in his life to date had Peter ever come across such a situation where it was actually fair in his regards. The man in front of him just showed Peter that whatever the teenager had for cards in his hands, the secret agent man in front of him had a better hand and the deck was stacked against Peter.“What does the Top Cop of the World want from me?” Spider-Man asked flat out.“As strange as its going to sound, I want you to keep doing what you're doing.”Nick Fury didn't see Peter's eyebrow rise in suspicion. Sure the teenage vigilante only had spy movies that he had seen and the general public opinion about government people doing something for someone without asking permission to go on. It really wasn't much but even his own personal opinion of the man right now wasn't all the good either. For the next several minutes, Nick Fury explained his reasoning for why he wanted Peter to continue to be Spider-Man. Nick had told Peter that the world was in sore need of heroes for many reasons. One of them being that there were too many scumbags criminals that didn't fear the police or any kind of punishment for what they did. The only thing that criminals of any kind did fear was a symbol and whether Peter believed him or not, Spider-Man was a symbol. When Peter told Nick that symbols aren't bullet proof, Nick replied that they didn't need to be. Nick reminded Peter of the time where Captain America freed the fourteen Red Cross aids that were taken hostage by rebels. Because of his reputation, Captain America only had to tell the rebels what he would do to them if they didn't surrender. It was times like that where Nick was right in that it took a certain kind of man to be Captain America. Even Peter agreed with Nick about that but said that was Captain America.“Kid, do you know how Captain America became the bad-ass that he is? World War II may have played a role in it but in the end, it was because of his determination to make a difference that set him apart from any other soldier. And before you say it was the serum that turned him into a super soldier that made the difference, I'll let you in on a little secret: it only amplified what was there, not give it.”“Again, I am not Captain America!” Peter knew he shouldn't have yelled out as loud as he did but his overall impatience with Nick Fury was starting to get better of him.“I already know that, kid. Your temper tantrum back at the bank is proof of that. But you want to know what else I saw aside from your immaturity? I saw the same drive that I see in Captain America in you. The kind of drive that can make a difference in this world. But only if you choose to do so.”Looking at his wristwatch, Nick muttered to himself about the time. “Alright kid, here's the situation: with all the power you've got, you can easily be a hero for this city or its worst criminal. Back at the bank was what we in the spy business like to call the tipping point which means you have to make a choice.”“And what choice is that?”“You get a hold of yourself and choose to be either Spider-Man or Peter Parker.” Nick said before he snapped his fingers which caused something that easily got Peter's attention. A red dot appearing on the center of his chest and then moving up to the middle of his head. “Or I end a possible threat here and now.”Peter tried to see where the laser sight was originating from but couldn't. His spider-sense wasn't going off but that could only mean that the red dot was for show now. The order to shoot had not been given just yet.“Kinda extreme solution, isn't it?” Peter said to Nick, just now realizing the man had lead him to this spot on purpose.“Not the first time someone was shot to end a possible threat. Wouldn't be the last either.” Nick replied before snapping his fingers again which caused the red dot to disappear. “Go home and think it over, kid. Think real hard because what you do makes more of a difference than what you can do.”With that said, Nick Fury turned around and began walking away. Peter wasn't to say something back to the man but decided not to since he believed there was nothing else needed to be said. At least for now. After entering the transport that had been waiting for Nick the entire time, the Top Cop of the World entered and let out a sigh after he had told the driver to return to the Triskelion.“Problems, sir?” the driver asked, momentarily forgetting that it wasn't a good idea to question a man like Nick Fury. But to his credit, Nick didn't reprimand the man at all.“Just hoping that in the next 24 hours, I won't make a decision that I know I will regret.” Nick replied but it was more to himself than it was to the driver.Only a handful of people in the world knew the kind of decisions Nick had made in the past that he regretted. Ironically enough, Peter Parker knew two of those people: Logan and Wilson Fisk. The three of them were soldiers during World War II just before Captain America made his debut. All three of them didn't really give a damn for anything else but themselves when they robbed homes of their left-behind treasures. Of course they were caught in the act of looting the abandoned house and taken back to the United States but Nick realized two things every time he let himself wander back down memory lane.He wouldn't be where he was if he hadn't acted like a man without honor that day. Nor would he have gotten Peter Parker's parents killed because of one of his super soldier projects. At the same time Nick Fury made his way back to his home base, Peter was web-swinging back to his neighborhood and he too was thinking back on past events. Specifically more recent ones.Peter realized how much he wasn't really thinking when he was about to kill the imposter. He didn't care about the ramifications of him taking a life. Only now did he realize that despite what he thought earlier, it was exactly the same when he cornered the man who had killed his uncle.Too many thoughts were running through his head that Peter almost didn't noticed that he was about several blocks from his home and he had yet to change into his civilian clothing. Ducking out of sight and changing his clothing, Peter had started to just to walk back home when his thoughts really hit him.'Dammit! I didn't even know I could get that angry. It-it just creeped up on me. Like it's always been a part of me and everything that I do in my life.' Peter thought to himself, being both angry and disappointed at himself at the same time. 'As much as I hate to admit it, Nick Fury was right. I can do great things or I can be the worst anyone has ever seen.'As Peter took each step towards his home, he started to remember the night Uncle Ben shared with him a piece of wisdom that he knew he should never forget.“You father had a philosophy that he held to pretty strongly. He believed that if there were things in this world that you had to offer, things that you did better than anyone else, things that you could that helped people or made people feel better about themselves...well, he believed it wasn't just a good idea to do those things. He believed it was your responsibility to do those things.”Peter closed his eyes while he heard those words repeat though his mind. So much so that he didn't realize that someone was near him until felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to see who it was. It was Uncle Ben smiling at him.“Don't try to be something else. Don't try to be less.”“And with great power, there must always come great responsibility.” Peter said to the fading image of Uncle Ben.What felt like a huge weight being taken off of his shoulders, Peter began walking back home with a better sense of resolve than he had before. Even when he choose to be Spider-Man.As he entered home, Peter thought back to another idea that Nick Fury had pointed out when they talked. About the idea of a symbol and how maybe it was time to honor that idea.'Maybe it's time to be the hero I can be. Maybe...it's time to be the Ultimate Spider-Man.' Peter thought to himself. 'And if I can be the ultimate, I wonder how the girls will be when they become as such too?'There was a brief mental image of Peter, in a new Spider-Man costume, standing in front of Lana, Lori, and Jessica in their new superhero personas. Peter didn't have much of an imagination when it came to costume designs but he knew Mary Jane and Liz could easily have some ideas in that department.'Who knows? Maybe they might even make something...sexy.'Next Chapter – Assembling the Teams
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxAuthor's Note: Sorry about the long delay. A whole mess of things happened where honestly the writer's muse cannot work. One event was losing my place to live because the old landlord died and the new one wanted to sell the place for the money and kicked everyone out including me. That could easily been more than enough but there were other things as well that happened. Just know my lateness in updating the story had a real solid x-factor of an excuse. Now, onto the contest that I had put in place about who gets to be chosen next to become part of Peter's harem. I realized I made it rather unfair. One reason was the fact that some readers had asked some characters that I had already planned on adding to be next. I should have been more clear in that the next character could be anyone in the Ultimate Marvel Universe. These are the current members of the harem: Mary Jane Watson, Liz Allen, Lana Baumgartner, Lori Baumgartner, Jessica Drew, Gwen Stacy, Kitty Pryde, Felicia Hardy. Natasha Romanov, Silver Sable, and Betsy Braddock. So now I'll just make it simple as I should have made it before. If there's a female character that you want to see added to the harem, doesn't have to just be in the Ultimate Marvel Universe, then say it loud.An example would be like Morrigan Aensland from Darkstalkers since there had been several Marvel vs. Capcom games where Spider-Man was one of the playable characters. In the meantime, I will make sure the next update doesn't take months to write out. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
