Over the next few weeks they establish a sense of normalcy again. Loki finds he enjoys the simplicity of this life, even with the threat of Sean returning always on Shelia’s mind. He knows she is still scared and makes it a priority to keep every door and window locked at all times. He calls from work to check on her in the evenings and always answers the phone when he is home. He wants to make sure she is safe and even more important wants her to feel safe. Most nights he sleeps in the bed with her because she finds it comforting. He finds it slightly maddening as his attraction to her continues to grow, especially now that he feels the need to protect her, but he is always a gentleman, having no intention of pushing her knowing her past with men.
After a few months and no incidents she is finally starting to relax and so she doesn't even mention that she has been getting random hang-up phone calls in the evenings when Loki is at work. A week later as Shelia is driving Loki to the bar he tells her that he will be home early because Joe is closing down early to have the floors worked on overnight.
When Shelia arrives back home she goes inside and locks the door behind her as usual. 2 hours later King goes to the front door and sits. Then he starts to bark and whine. Thinking he must need to go outside Shelia gets up from the couch and opens the front door for him. She doesn't expect the door to be shoved all the way open knocking her back off her feet. In an instant King leaps and bites the assailant on the forearm, but he is wearing a thick jacket and King's grip has little effect as he raises a gun and shoots the dog. King falls dead to the floor as Shelia screams and lunges towards his body. The intruder lowers his hood and with a laugh sneers, "did you miss me baby?"
She is frozen in terror as she recognizes Sean. He advances on her as she begins to scramble away on the floor. Her back hits the couch as he reaches down and grabs her by the neck and squeezes, lifting her to her feet. She begins slapping at his hand trying to release herself, "Sean, please. Don't do this. Let me go and we can talk. Please just let me go," she begs.
"There's nothing to talk about sweetheart. You sealed your fate when you sent me to prison."
"No! It wasn't me! I didn't turn you in I swear."

"Sir, there are unusual thermo readings at Loki's residence."
"On screen Jarvis." Tony directs then looks at the display. What he is seeing doesn't make a lot of sense at first until the figures turn and he can see two people, one appearing to be clutching the other by the throat and then he spots the image for what looks like an animal rapidly cooling. "Not good," he mutters as he prepares to suit up. "Jarvis contact Thor, tell him to meet me there now!"

"Sean, listen to me. You don't want to do this."
"There's where you're wrong. I have been dreaming of this since the day I was locked in that cage," he hisses as he releases her in a heap on the couch and begins to unbuckle his pants. She shrinks back but has nowhere to run with the gun pointed at her. He kneels on the floor in front of her and taking a knife out of his pocket he slides the gun under the couch out of her reach.
"No. Sean, please. Just let me go and we can work this out. I swear."
"Too late for that bitch!" he snarls as he starts slicing up the leg of her pants with the knife.
"Loki!" Shelia screams in relief, seeing him push open the door. He reacts instantly and jumps for Sean but not before Sean pulls the gun out from under the couch and points it at Shelia's face. Loki stops immediately in his tracks a few feet away, his green eyes flashing.
"What do we have here?" Sean asks. "You must be the replacement. Pity you showed up when you did. I was hoping to have one more go at her before I kill her. You know what a great fuck she is."
"I wouldn't know," Loki growls.
"Well I would," the armed man says with a sadistic grin. He turns his attention back to Shelia and runs the barrel of the gun down the side of her cheek. "We had a lot of fun didn't we? No good for anything else, but you sure did love to get fucked." He continues to trail the gun down her neck, between her breasts and down to her stomach. Loki lunges when he hears the gun being cocked. As Sean pulls the trigger, he hits him from behind causing the gun to jerk to the side.
Shelia's eyes go wide as Loki pulls Sean away and throws him to the floor just as Iron Man bursts into the room. Tony reacts to the scene based on the updates of the thermal data from Jarvis by jumping on Sean and knocking him unconscious. Loki kneels by Shelia and holds her hand trying not to panic as he watches the blood spread across the side of her shirt. Turning to Tony he yells, "Help her! Tony! Do something!"
Shelia is visibly paling and she continues to stare wide eyed at Loki. "Hang on for me. Ok? You're ok," Loki pleads as Tony retracts his gauntlet and feels her pulse.
"She's losing a lot of blood," he says. "Jarvis, send me another suit and patch me through to Fury on a priority line." He turns to Loki, "help me get her on the floor. I need to get her in my suit."
