Chapter 11

Rise of the Storm

Hate

When the two arrived back at the mansion there was chaos. Remy and Rogue were in the lab there were plenty of conflicting stories as to what happened to them. Hank was watching over both. Gabriel, Alex, Warren and Jean-paul had gotten into a huge fight and were now in separate rooms via Jeanne-Marie and Karma's orders. Peter was dealing with most of the students. Bobby and Roberto, who everyone called Bob were separated after an argument and a test of abilities. Jubilee, Megan, Kitty, Amara, Rahne and Tabitha were all in the kitchen trying to make lunch and figure out what was going on. Evan, Samuel, Kurt, and Ray were outside by the pool just trying to stay out of the way.

"Ororo." A given name that made her flinch but she turned to see Jeanne-Maire walking towards her. "Oh my. What happened?" Ororo grimaced and made it look like it hurt more then it did.

"Magneto had me but Ro here gave him a run for his money." Logan spoke carefully not willing to betray the trust he had just been given.

"Well I am glad that you were able to take care of that but there are some things here that need your attention as well." Karma's english was getting better her words echoed in the hall as they walked to Ororo's office.

"Bring them by my office and I will see if I can piece out what happened." Karma and Jeanne-Marie nodded and left Ororo alone with Logan.

"Wolverine when Alex and Gabriel get here I need to find out what plans they have." Ororo turned to him and focused on him carefully. "I might need to play a little dirty." Logan growled because he understood what she intended to do. Scarlet Witch had brought out the darkness that rested in Ororo's heart the darkness that even she never touched. Ororo stepped over to Logan and ran her hand over his face. "I need you to pull him away when it gets to much." Ororo looked down and a smile crossed her face. "When and if he gets the wrong idea."

"You mean when you give him the wrong idea." Logan's voice was more growl then words.

"Yes." Ororo turned away from him and sat down in her chair, ignoring the fact that she was still bleeding in a couple of places.

Warren and Jean-Paul came in first the look on both of their faces were that of shame. Ororo sighed and placed her hand over her face making it look as if she was exhausted when in reality excitement wafted from her. Logan could smell it the air was thick with it.

"Ororo. I... We are sorry." Ororo stood and swung her arm out in front of her a stern and cold look on her face.

"Enough! This is a school if we can't put our differences aside and teach the children then what good are we? How will they respect and listen to us if all we can do is bicker amongst ourselves?" Ororo waited not expecting an answer and after a moment or two she spoke. "I expect that both of you will apologize to them as publicly as possible," Both of them were about to say something but a look from her steely eyes and they stopped. "You can do it anyway that you wish but I expect that it be done soon."

"You wouldn't say that if you knew what it was about." Warren spoke softly being one of the younger teachers he respected Ororo so much that, that was the reason the fight started in the first place.

"I don't care what the fight was about." Cold eyes turned to Warren and he was struck by how different Ororo was from earlier.

"Gabriel said that he would bed you by the end of the week," A growl rippled from Logan but Warren continued. "And that he would have this school in shreds by the end of a months time. Even said that he would then use you as a play toy and everything his brother ever loved would be dead!" Ororo sat with a sigh and looked over at Logan who was growling.

"Alright. Look I will handle Gabriel and Alex." Ororo looked up at the two of them. "I don't ever want to hear about anything like this ever again. So in the future if you overhear things like this come to see me directly. Understood?" When they both nodded like students she waved them off. Ororo turned the chair towards the window and an evil smile spread over her face. "This makes my job so much easier."

"How so?" Logan stood beside her.

"They want to destroy this place and we need a reason for the x-men to trust Magneto and become the Mutant Nation." Logan shook his head.

"I don't think the younger ones will ever trust Magneto." Ororo paused for a moment.

"Even if he is the one that rescues the school and their headmistress from the clutches of Gabriel." Logan swallowed at her words and looked down into her eyes.

"Maybe."

"So I won't be the one to save you?" Ororo stood and wrapped her arms around Logan's neck kissing him softly.

"You have saved me from eternity alone." Logan shook under her fighting himself because he wanted her but she was not herself. The truth finally dawned on him, Ororo might never really be his again.

"To be with you." Logan kissed her ravishing her mouth before she pulled away with a smile.

"Good now I really do need you to go to the Danger room." Logan stepped back. "Please there is a change in plan and I need you in a place that you can be 'trapped' in." Logan growled at her words.

"Otherwise you can save me." Ororo ran a finger over his jaw line.

"What if you need me?" Logan suddenly began to wonder if all this was such a good idea keeping all of these things from the team.

"Then I will release the door." Ororo's words peaked his interest.

"How will you do that?" Logan pulled her hand from his face.

"With my weather manipulation." Ororo didn't elaborate further or wait for a response from him before turning back to the window. Logan looked at Ororo's back and left but before he left he whispered words that he was afraid he would never again say.

"I love you." As Logan descended to the Danger room a wave of fear rolled through him. It was happening again.

'Logan, where are you going?' The voice in his head was familiar.

"Miss Munroe." Ororo looked up from her desk at the two men that walked into her room.

"Gabriel and Alex Summers." Gabriel smiled the same smile he did the first time he walked into her office. Ororo sighed and stepped around her desk.

"Where is your lap dog?" Ororo raised an eyebrow at his words.

"We had an argument not that it is any business of yours." An even wider smile spread across Gabriel's face.

"Alex leave us for the moment." Once the door was closed Gabriel stepped forward and grabbed her waist. "I never believed that Magneto would do it." Ororo leaned closer so her lips were right next to Gabriel's ear.

"I have a message from him for you." She paused before she continued. "Sometimes a pawn must be sacrificed to win the game." Ororo leaned back against the desk while he absorbed the message. Suddenly the smile that covered his face disappeared.

"What does that mean?" Ororo jumped up sitting on her desk and crossing her legs.

"What do you think it means?" Gabriel stepped closer placing both of his hands on either side of the desk.

"He said he still needed me." Ororo placed a fingertip on her chin and very slowly a smile spread over her lips.

"Well, as a pawn yes but you can no longer be king of this game. Besides the most important piece in chess..." Ororo trailed off. Gabriel grabbed Ororo by the hair and pulled back her head. "The Queen." The words were hissed out between clenched teeth. Viciously he pulled her from the desk and heaved her to the floor.

"Magneto may have his own goals but I have mine as well." Gabriel grabbed Ororo by the neck and pulled her to her feet. "And you will help me get there." Ororo did not feel the pull when he began to use her powers only a slight wisp of a tingle over her skin.

Jubilee, Megan, Kitty, Amara, Rahne and Tabitha where in the kitchen finishing off the last touches for lunch when Kitty spoke.

"Do you think it's true?" Kitty pushed items back in the fridge once they were finished using them.

"What?" Jubilee flipped another sandwich in the pan.

"That Miss Monroe would leave Logan for Gabriel?" Kitty leaned back on the counter.

"Yuck no way he is so creepy." Megan leaned over grabbing a grape. "Besides if anyone is here to cause trouble it would be him."

"Has anyone else noticed that Alex and Gabriel are like always together?" Tabitha walked over to the window and looked out.

"Yeah like they are twins or something. Its hard to believe they were related to Scott." Jubilee sat at the table.

Rahne leaned against the wall and looked outside. "Was it supposed to rain?" Rahne's question pulled everyone from the conversation to look outside. A dark wave of clouds were heading toward the school. Darker then any of them had seen in a while.

"No I don't think so." Amara leaned over the stool.

"Hey Megan can you get the boys to come inside. I want to go see Rogue." Jubilee words were soft as she stood, grabbed an apple and walked toward the door.

"I'll come with you." Tabitha called after her and crossed the kitchen in a few steps. As the two girls left the room, Evan, Samuel, Kurt, and Ray followed Megan inside.

"You and Kitty seem distant." Tabitha questioned and Jubilee tilted her head shrugging. "Ever since her and Bobby got together."

"Yes well Rogue and I are closer so." Jubilee’s words were casual.

"I noticed that too. Kitty is a little..." Tabitha paused searching for the word waving her hand in the air as she lost her thought. "Well I suppose it doesn't matter I don't really like her all that much anyway." Jubilee smiled and bumped Tabitha's shoulder. By this point they had reached the elevator and Jubilee pressed the button.

'This way Logan.' The voice sounded again. Logan followed it to the med lab. The door opened and Hank sat in a chair looking toward a bed with a curtain drawn.

"Hank?" Hank turned to him and then turned back to the curtain and stood.

"Good Logan your here." Logan stepped in still confused.

"A telepath." Hank smiled and nodded motioning Logan forward.

"That storm that is coming doesn't look normal." Evan spoke as he dried his hair and shook the last of the water off his shorts.

"Maybe someone should go talk to Ororo." Kitty lifted her hand and placed her chin on it.

"Oh I know my Aunt I am not going anywhere near her right now." The others looked over at Evan then out at the storm.

"You think she is upset." Evan turned his back on the storm and climbed on a stool.

"Upset. No. Furious yes." The group of students all looked outside wondering what had angered their headmistress so.

"You see how easy it is for me to wield your power?" Ororo looked outside and then back to Gabriel. His eyes were as white as hers normally were when she used her powers.

"What will you do now? Now that you can use all of our powers?" Gabriel wrenched her toward the door.

"I will destroy everything that Scott ever held dear." Ororo almost laughed but stopped.

"Everything Scott held dear well one of them are dead. Toward the end of his life he stopped caring." Ororo’s words made Gabriel pause.

"Well you could be lying but since you do not have a telepath here I can't tell." Gabriel paused and pulled Ororo closer. "I'll tell you what I won't kill your nephew if you do everything I say." Ororo raised an eyebrow and shook her head even though Gabriel was holding her neck.

"My nephew..." Ororo spat the words, wrenched herself from Gabriel's hold and turned to face him.

"I'll tell YOU what if you leave now Magneto might let you live." Gabriel laughed it was a strong sound that echoed in the room.

"I can control his power what is he going to do to me?" Then a smile slipped across his face. "Magneto..." Gabriel stepped closer to her and grabbed both of her wrists. "Call your precious Magneto." Ororo raised an eyebrow. "If he is really the only one you care about then Scarlet Witch did her job." Pulling Ororo close Gabriel whispered in her ear. "I will let your precious 'father' live if you do exactly as I say." Ororo struggled against him. "Come come now Ororo." Gabriel leaned in and whispered in her ear. "I will even let you keep your wild pet alive... mostly."

"Forget it." Ororo spat the words out even as Gabriel’s grip tightened. Gabriel stepped back and back handed her. The sound echoed through the room and caused Alex to come back in. When Gabriel turned to him Alex froze.

"Get everyone outside now. Tell them that it's Ororo's orders that she wants to show them something." Alex nodded and left the room closing the door behind him.

Alex walked into the kitchen where the students were. "Miss Monroe wants everyone outside now." The students looked over at him confused.

"But its about to storm." Evan stood holding a sandwich that was half eaten.

"Those are her orders." Alex left the room before they could ask anymore questions and walked to the rec room where most of the teachers were. "Ororo wants everyone outside." Jeanne-Marie looked up from a game of cards with Warren and shrugged.

"I would prefer to stay inside." Jean-paul did not look up from the book he was reading.

"If I were you I would go she is furious about something." Alex stepped into the room.

"Why are you telling us this and not Logan?" Alex shrugged in answer to Peter's question.

"I saw him head down towards the danger room." Karma stood and headed for the door her words were cool. "Hank is still in the med lab with Rogue and Remy both of which are still unconscious." Alex nodded and headed back to Ororo's office. Once he was out of hearing Peter spoke.

"Something is off." Kurt walked up behind Peter as the students filed out of the kitchen.

"Ororo would never have sent Alex." Evan spoke softly not wanting to be overheard.

"I bet any amount of money Gabriel is with her which can only mean trouble." Evan nodded at Peter's words. "I'm going to go find Logan I think the rest of you might want to be ready for a fight."

"I will go with you I want to see Remy." Karma fell in step next to Peter as the rest went outside.

Logan had just enough time to step around the curtain, take in the sight before Jubilee and Tabitha walked in. Hank walked over to them to distract them. Rogue and Remy lay on seperate beds with a man standing in between them a hand over each.

'Hello Logan.' The voice in his head was familiar but the man before him was not. 'Don't be alarmed.'

"You said that to me once before." The man's arms dropped and he turned to face Logan.

"Yes I have."

"Charles how are you alive?" The man before him shook his head.

"I was dead Logan but my telepathic abilities allowed me to take control of this man who was brain dead." Logan lifted an eyebrow. "Although the journey was taxing and it will take me time to get my abilities back if I ever do." Logan stepped around to Rogue's bed.

"Her powers returned." Logan spoke softly and rested a hand on Rogue’s leg as Charles nodded.

"Yes and it seemed that it was at a moment when she was intimate with..." Charles pointed to Remy lying in the bed next to her. Logan grunted.

"Rogue is the main reason I returned. Although it seems like there is another problem that has arisen that needs my attention." Logan glanced at him.

"Your not staying?" Charles looked up at Logan.

"I haven't decided. Ororo has been doing a great job so far." Logan stepped around the bed.

"Magneto.." Logan spoke softly and again Charles nodded.

"I know I could feel it as soon as I got here." Logan sat on Rogue's bed.

"I... She needs me but Magneto twisted it all around." Charles nodded placing a hand on Logan's shoulder.

"We will fix it." It was at that moment that Hank brought the other two girls around the curtain. Charles motioned for Logan to follow him. Once they were out of earshot Charles spoke again. "We need to find the mutant that put the spell on her and I don't have enough power to use Cerebro."

"Her name was the Scarlet Witch." Logan spoke carefully.

"The real question is how do we get her to undo what she has done and get rid of Gabriel. I could do it if I had my powers." Charles sighed and rubbed his forehead.

"I might be of some assistance with the witch." Charles looked over Logan's shoulder to see Peter and Karma standing there. Karma smiled and continued to speak. "I... do not mean to interrupt." Logan nodded for her to continue. "I have the ability to control other’s mind." Charles raised an eyebrow. "Karma."

"Well Karma you can call me Charles." Karma held out her hand and Charles took it.

"Professor?" Peter looked the man up and down taking in his dark hair and dark eyes.

"Yes Peter." Charles paused. "It's actually a good thing you are down here. Hank told me about Madelyne and the children." When Logan nodded Charles continued. "It is better if they don't know who I am, but if Peter, Jubilee and Tabitha could go get the them. And Logan, you and Karma could go find this Scarlet witch we might be able to end this thing right here right now."

"Alex said that everyone on Ororo's orders are supposed to go outside though." Charles thought for a moment.

"Well if Alex comes down I can make him believe that you are all stuck in the Danger room." Logan raised an eyebrow.

"And if it is Gabriel." Charles thought for a moment.

"He won't come down not away from the weather now that he is channeling Ororo." Logan sighed but nodded at Charles's words and then stepped closer so that only Charles would hear his words.

"Don't let her die." Logan turned on his heel and left Karma followed him quickly. Charles's eyebrow was still raised when Hank joined Peter and him with the two girls.

"Something wrong?" Hank inquired at the look on Charles’s face.

"No I just not sure who Logan meant." Hank and Peter looked at each other and at the same time said.

"Ororo." Charles eyebrow rose even more.

"Really?" Curiosity laced Charles’s voice.

"Just ask Jubilee." Peter motioned to the smaller girl.

"Ask me what?" Jubilee was almost prancing over to the group.

"Logan and Ororo?" Charles knew that Jubilee didn't know who he was because she started in on her gossip voice.

"Totally! A couple of the students were caught when Logan and Ororo came in from the rain and started making out. Ororo and Logan not the students. Although we all knew something was going on when Logan decided to be her," Jubilee made the quotation movement with her hands, "'Enforcer'. I think it's been a little weird though cause he treats her so much different then Jean." Jubilee looked at Tabitha who picked up the gossip train then.

"Well it's good I mean from what I heard he never really loved her it was just an infatuation anyway. We all know what he feels for Ororo is real. I mean you could tell by that one storm we had." At Tabitha's words Jubilee had to stifle a giggle.

"What do you mean?" Charles had a feeling he knew but he would prefer to find out what the students knew they were after all very perceptive about these things.

"Well we all know that Miss Monroe's emotions are tied to the weather and this one night there was this really freaky thunder and lightening show. There was only one conclusion to be made afterward." Charles nodded a small smile spread over his face.

"Alright well you two I need you to accompany Peter out to the cabin in the woods." Jubilee and Tabitha looked from Peter to Hank and then back to the stranger in front of them. Suddenly it clicked for Jubilee.

"Professor?" When Charles smiled at her Jubilee jumped up and down and squealed hugging him. "Your not DEAD!?" Tabitha covered her ears and shook her head.

"For the moment but lets save the happy reunion until we save the day." Jubilee nodded confused but followed Tabitha and Peter from the room.

Ororo looked up as Gabriel dragged her to her feet. "That will leave a nice mark." The smile that fell across his face gave Ororo the chills.

"Why do you hate.. why did you hate your brother?" Gabriel pushed her into a seat and looked around the room.

"When his powers developed he got sent here. Free from our parents but when mine developed they believed that I could be an asset to the government so they were going to send me away too. But Alex got upset and his powers manifested to. I had to stay home and help him control them." Gabriel picked up a picture of the X-men standing together. "They called Charles in." Ororo raised an eyebrow at his words. "He must have found something in me that didn't sit well with him. I remember him talking to Scott and then the decision was made. I would not go to the school. Alex was too young and without me he had no control of his powers."

"I thought you said..."

"Yes that Scott left because he didn't want me controlling him. Well that was a lie. You see I am the youngest brother." Ororo was surprised to learn this he looked older. "No power is free." Realization dawned on her.

"Your power drains your age."

"Oh yes. So every time I had to stop Alex from using his was another day, week, month or year off of my life."

"You blame Scott?" Gabriel turned back toward Ororo.

"Not at first. But when he didn't return to show Alex how to use his powers and then when I learned of his beautiful girlfriend and his perfect life." Gabriel lifted the picture higher. "Then I blamed him and I wanted him to burn for it." The picture was thrown across the room and Ororo shielded herself as it crashed into the wall above her.

"I look older then him and Alex even though I am only 19." Ororo stood slowly finally understanding why he seemed so out of touch with reality. "Now the time has come for action." Reaching out he grabbed Ororo by the arm in a vice grip and pulled her towards the door.
