Disclaimer: I do not own any of the X-Men movies, or any of the characters from them. I make no money from from the writing of this story. |
Author's Note: I'm not going to waste time this early on in the fic with a long winded author's note. So here it is my newest fic. Enjoy.
Disclaimer: I do not, and have not at any time, own Marvel and its characters. However, I do own the orginal characters mentioned in this fic. Nine of them in fact. So...DON'T TAKE THEM WITHOUT MY PERMISSION! I will be very very upset if I find my characters in someone else's fic and they didn't have my permission to use them. Thanks.

Prologue
The sun was just rising, breaking over the line of trees that guarded a vast mansion from the prying eyes of the public. Through the glass of the window it was refleted clearly, with just a hint of the brisk spring air that blew in from the slight crack. A gentleman sat in a gleaming yellow wheelchair, taking in the sight of a peaceful morning, one that had been a long time coming. At least in his opinion. So much had happened over the past few months that peace was clasped tightly to you so that you would not lose it. However, for every time there is a beginning and a new beginning was high on the horizon, just like the sun.
Charles Xavier turned his wheelchair and moved it back to his desk and stared rather blankly down at the assortment of files in front of him. Here were the more advanced of his students. Each with the training and battle experience. These, would be the new age, the start of a new era. Trouble was rising in a new group of rogue mutants who were younger, much younger than anything his X-Men had faced before. Xavier just afraid that his X-Men were getting to old to take on the younger mutant problems, and these young people would be a great assest to them. Sending in a fresh team, nearer to the rogues ages, would be beneficial, at least in his eyes. But the ultimate decision was not up to him. It was up to his team, the ones who had trained and knew who was the best.
And at any minute the X-Men would be arriving. Even as he broke his train of thought, there was a soft knock on his office door. Xavier called out for them to come in and three people entered, two women and one man. The first woman who entered was tall, with rich mocha colored skin and flowing white hair that made her seem like a goddess. The red headed, green eyed woman entered on the arm of her lover, a tall sandy brown haired man who wore red quartz glasses. Ororo Munroe, Jean Grey, and Scott Summers...three of his orginal students, and to his mind, his first children.
They were followed by a trio of men, each handsome in their own rights. The first was Remy LeBlue, the saucy Cajun, ever recongizable by his trademark kelvar armour and brown trenchcoat that brushed the ground. His devil eyes, red on black, glinted dangerously in the light. Following him was a bulky black man, with a large M scar over his eye. Bishop wore armor, even now in a time of peace, ever paranoid of danger. Scooting in right behind them was Bobby Drake, another one of Xavier's orginal students, and another son to him. Bobby wore a easy smile, with a all American feel just wrapping around him and his good boy good looks.
The last three entered individually. The first was a tall woman with deep auburn hair that was marred by a skunk white streak right down the middle. Her emerald green eyes flicked to Remy and glared. Charles saw that and sighed, trouble in paradise. Hank McCoy, standing out in his blue fur and squat body, rushed in close behind Rogue, apologizing for being late. Though he looked beasty, Hank McCoy had one of the smartest minds in this country. Sauntering in like he did have a care in the world, was Wolverine, ignoring the look he recieved for being late. Running a hand over the brush of a beard that had started, he took a place at the wall, leaning back and crossing his legs. He pulled out a cigar and clamped it between his teeth and grunted, "So why are we here Chuck? Are the bad boys back looking for another beating?"
Rogue looked over at the man who had helped her overcome some tough odds, "Logan why must you always assume there is to be a fight or a brawl? Can't you for once be satsfied with the peace and quiet?"
Charles held up a hand to stop any further arguement, "Actually Rogue, Logan is partly right. There are bad guys, as he puts it. However these are ones we have never run into before. They call themselves V-Force, for what that stands for I don't know. They are between the ages of eightteen to twenty-five. They are very smart. They have been operating for several months now and I have only just now sensed them, so I am going to assume that they have a very powerful telepath on their side."
Bishop sneered, "Then why are we just sitting around here twiddling out thumbs, lets go kick their asses and get back in time for dinner."
Rogue threw up her hand, "Your as bad as him."
Remy's lips turned up in a slight smirk, "And what's so wrong with that. A good fight would be a nice change from the screaming brats around here."
Ororo gave Remy a sharp look, "Those 'brats' are the new generation. One day when your old and can't get around as easyily as you can now, those 'brats' will be the one saving your life from those who want to kill you for just being a mutant."
"Ororo is right and that is one of the reasons I have called you here this morning. V-Force is made up of at least eight mutants who have based themselves in Los Angeles, for reason unknown at the moment. Their leader is a twenty year old man intent on following Magneto's footsteps." Charles said, shifting some of the papers on his desk.
"Talk about needing a new role model." Bobby commented dryly.
"We just never get a break do we. First Magento tries to take over New York City and turn it into some safe haven for mutants, when its not, and now this. Sometimes I wonder..." Scott trailed off, earning a look from Jean.
"Yes Scott, I think that we all feel as you do. But, no matter how bad things look, we must look on the brighter side of things. At least we had a slight reprieve before this new rogue group made itself known." Hank said, sliding his glasses up on his forehead.
Jean Grey looked at the professor and asked, "So, if you didn't gather us here to brief us on our next mission to fight V-Force, then why did you gather us?
Charles looked at his X-Men intently before answering her question, "I know that the last thing you guys want to do is fly out to LA to take care of the lastest distubance after so recently defeating Magneto and his Acolytes. So what I am proposing is that you hand pick a new team of X-Men. We have in this institute students who have trained many years with each of you to master their mutantations. Some have even fought when the school was attacked at different times. And I can name two students who had a part in the New York City conflict. I believe that there are a select few who are ready for the next step. A new generation of fighters to fight the new generation of opposition."
The team exchanged somewhat surprised glances. Of all the things to expect this was the last thing they would have thought to come out of Charles Xavier's mouth. For the simple reason that it had been them for the longest time, that the idea of creating a new team consisting of their students had never crossed their minds. Gambit was the first to smile and comment, "Oh, this ole Cajun feels sorry for those boys wanting to start trouble in Los Angeles."
"I agree with Gambit on this one. We have several formidable students who will give them hell." added Bishop.
Rogue sighed, "I hate to be the one who poops on the party, but are they ready? I mean you can have all the training in the world but that won't help you in a real conflict."
"Which is why I was going to suggest that Caitlyn Gallagher and Meredith Gentry be part of the new team. They fought in the New York Conflict. They know what real battle is like. And they are both strong and team players. Plus everyone gets along with them." Charles said in response to Rogue's question.
"Andais McFarland." Bobby said and they looked at him, "I know she isn't a student but she was. And she does run that bed and breakfast that caters to mutants. Plus she is older than most of the students that we would choose from. She is responsible, she's proven that with the B&B."
Jean gave Bobby a sly smile, "Bobby, you sure are campaigning hard to get Andias on the team. Any special reason?"
That caused them all to laugh because they all knew about Bobby and Andais' blooming relationship. Bobby blushed and shook his head, "My relationship with Andais has nothing to do with selecting her to be on the new team. She would be a great assest."
"We know Bobby." reassured Ororo before continueing, "Caitlyn, Meredith, and Andias. What about Tianna McGregour? She's a good choice as an teleporter."
Remy sighed, "Those twins would never forgive me if I didn't mention them. Both Krysta and KeLyssa have come a long way since they first arrived here. Right Bobby?"
Bobby nodded, "He's right. KeLyssa has amazing control over her ice powers. And Krysta is just as good. Not to mention that Caitlyn is their older sister and they have that psychic rapport with each other."
"And then there is the lovely Aubrie Cornett. Empathic with a psionic whip. She amazes me everyday with her constant improvement of her empathy."
Charles had been pulling each student's file as their name was mentioned and was going over them, "So we have Caitlyn, Krysta, and KeLyssa Gallagher, Meredith Gentry, Andais McFarland, Tianna McGregour, and Aubrie Cornett."
Logan started to chuckle and they looked at him. He pulled the cigar out his mouth and raised a brow, "Are you telling me that noone has noticed what I have? That the students you have chosen to make up this new team is all female?"
Rogue laughed too, "Well if thats how its going to be then lets just add my own student, Isabella Jones. Doesn't hurt to have a flyer on the team."
"Or a telekenetic, so add Malina. This would be good for her. She's starting to doubt that she'll ever be beneficial with her powers." Jean added, speaking of her prized telekenetic student.
Charles pulled the two other folders and stacked them together, "Right so we have a team of nine, consisting of a shapeshifter, teleporter, telepath, telekenetic, elements, flying, strength, and a empath. Sound good to you? Does anyone have any objections?"
"Just one. The twins and Tianna are only seventeen. They would be the youngest. Is the smartest thing to do in sending them to a place where there could be a big battle?" Scott said.
Remy exchanged a glance with Rogue, "The twins will listen to their sister, and Tianna really looks up to Andais. I don't think they would be a problem, despite their age."
"They are young, true, but they are also very mature for their age. The twins power manifested when they were eleven so they have had six years to gain complete control and they have. Tianna has been teleporting since she was five. I wouldn't not choose them simply based on the face of their age." Jean said.
"And as for schooling, Andais can homeschool them for as long as they are out there. She helps me out with teaching when everyone else is out on missions." Hank added his opinion.
Charles scanned the students in question files and looked up, "Scott I share your concerns concerning their age, however I would hate to point out that you have been fighting since you were sixteen. They have a year up on you."
"Plus, if there is any trouble, we can always bring them back and replace them with other deservig students." Rogue said.
Ororo, who had been silent since mentioning Tianna's name, spoke up again, "We are looking for a group who works well as a team, correct? Then we won't have any problems with these girls because they are all friends, someway or another. They train in the Danger Room together all the time. I've seen some of their sessions, and the way they work through opponents and problems is amazing. Its like they have been together forever, like us, instead of just a few years. I think they are all a good choice and should be given this chance."
"Besides, if something happens all they have to do is call us and we can come to their rescue." Logan said. What he didn't say was that if anyone hurt Caitlyn, he would make them pay personally. He was very attached to his one and only student, probably because they were so much alike in temperments.
Scott nodded, "Then I say lets do it. When do we tell them?"
Charles smiled, "I'll contact them and have them meet us in the main conference room. That should hold us all."
Bishop held up a hand, "Hank and myself won't be able to make it because we have a Danger Room session scheuled in ten minutes with a group of students."
"Of course, Bishop, thats not a problem. Everyone else, go get set up for them. Jean, here is a disk containing all the information on what will be reviewed." Charles said.
They all nodded and filed out, Jean taking the disk the professor held out to her. Charles waited for his X-men to leave the room before closing his eyes and reaching out to each student who had been chosen to meet them in the conference room. He smiled to hisself as he left his office. A new horizon had dawned.
Author's Notes: Well here it is, my latest fic. And in all reality, I've had this story idea for almost a year now. I just haven't had a chance to work on it until now. And now that its flowing I just expect it to flow on out. And yes I'm dealing with a whole slew of new characters. About 5 or 6 of them are characters I created for Marvel Role playing. I actually have a website for my orginal characters.
